Chapter One Hundred and Thirty-Three
As the dust from the first wave settled, silence returned to the Eternal Bastion. The air shimmered with residual divine energy as Xar'Zenth coiled above the fortress, his eyes scanning for the next threat.
Crow stood atop the main spire, overlooking the battlefield. His expression unreadable—focused, distant.
A soft presence approached from behind.
"Crow," Liana's voice was low, almost musical, laced with that otherworldly charm she rarely turned off. She stood close, her silken white hair brushing his shoulder.
He turned to her.
Liana tilted her head, a small, knowing smile playing on her lips. "I fought well, didn't I?"
"You decimated a quarter of the wave with one ability," Crow said bluntly.
"I think I deserve a reward," she whispered, leaning in slightly. Her hands laced behind her back, pushing her chest forward ever so slightly, clearly teasing.
Crow narrowed his eyes. "What kind of reward?"
She stepped closer, gaze smoldering. "A kiss... or two," she said softly. "Just a little one."
Before he could reply, Sylvanna landed nearby with a soft thud, vines recoiling from her limbs.
"She's shameless," Sylvanna muttered, her voice clipped but her cheeks tinted faintly.
Liana just grinned and looped her arm around Crow's. "You didn't say no," she whispered, eyes gleaming.
Crow let out a quiet sigh but didn't pull away.
The calm was over—the second wave was coming.
And Liana looked far too pleased.
