Dave stared at the status screen, stunned.

He had clearly died, and yet somehow he had been reborn as a newborn.

Even more shocking, he had been granted a system, just like those he used to read about in those novels. The same kind of system every main character received after reincarnating or transmigrating.

Yes, during his lonely nights, he used to read those stories as well. But between his exhausting 9-to-5 job and life's burdens, he could never find enough time to finish many.

He couldn't believe it at first.

But eventually he had to belive as the status screen flashed before him occasionally.

Had he actually been reborn as one of those "protagonists"?

Did that mean he was now living inside a novel? Or had he fallen into some supernatural world?

The thought excited him briefly, but he quickly shook it off.

No, he wasn't that lucky.

Still, he couldn't help feeling a flicker of hope. After all, he had been born with the bloodline of a powerful dragon.

"Sun Dragon" sounded incredibly strong.

But then again, misfortune clung to him like a shadow.

His bloodline was suppressed.

And somehow, he had still ended up in an orphanage again.

Misfortune truly never left him.

Dave furrowed his tiny brows as he stared at one particular detail.

"What's with this Unique Skill... 'Hunger'?"

Finding no answers from the system, he focused his mind on the skill.

[ Unique Skill: Hunger ]

[ Effect: You Get Hungry ]

"You get hungry? Isn't this just another useless skill I'm born with?"

"No... this is torture. It's already making me feel hungry."

Dave sighed internally.

The sensation of hunger was deep and hollow, gnawing at him from the inside as if he could devour a hole cow through his tiny stomach.

Opening his small pair of eyes, he glanced around curiously.

Yes, even though he was just 7 days old, he could somehow see everything clearly.

He was lying in a small infant bed, in a dimly lit room surrounded by finely crafted stone walls.

The setting gave off an ancient, old-world vibe, as if this place hadn't even brushed against the magical spark of science yet.

Or perhaps, something more advanced did exist in this world, and he was simply born into a lowborn area, far from where the miracles of magic.

But that wasn't important right now.

He was hungry, but there was nothing to drink.

From the looks of it, he had to use his last resort.

"Wah, waah, mwahh!"

He started crying out loud in his baby voice, sharp and piercing.

He felt a little embarrassed, but for the sake of filling his belly, he had to do what was necessary.

And fortunately, his efforts didn't go in vain.

The door opened with a small creak, revealing a woman dressed like a nun.

"Awwh, Archon, my child, don't cry."

The nun gently picked up Dave and started patting his back.

But Dave didn't stop crying. His small stomach growled loudly in her arms.

"Huh? You're hungry already? I just fed you milk a little while ago," she muttered in slight surprise.

Dave only blinked in response, gazing at her with tearful, pleading eyes.

The nun was even more stunned.

"Archon, you can see me already? That's incredible. I've never seen a child like you before. Not even the children of noble heritage. God must have made you special," she added with fervor.

Her gaze was fanatical, as if she were looking at a godchild.

"Mel, bring some milk for Archon," she called out.

With that, she carried Dave out to a more open area.

It was just outside the small orphanage building, where several children were playing or sitting beneath the trees.

The sky was sunny, and the air was fresh with the scent of grass and earth.

Dave and the nun took their seats at an open table.

The other children noticed and began gathering around.

"Sister Sera, who is he?" a little boy in shorts asked curiously.

Seraphina—whom the children affectionately called Sister Sera—smiled and replied, "He's a new member of our family."

"Oh, oh! A new family member? What's his name, Sister Sera?" a little girl asked, her eyes wide.

"Archon," she answered simply.

"Archon? That's a beautiful name. Why didn't I get a cool name like that?" one boy grumbled.

"Hehehe... Wayne, you're so funny," the others giggled.

"You all, what are you doing? Didn't I tell you to stop disturbing Sister Sera."

Just then, a young girl about 7 or 8 years old carefully approached with a glass bottle in hand.

"Mel, my child, It's fine. But I can always rely on you," Sister Sera said warmly.

"It's nothing, Sister Sera. I know how much you care for us. I can do this much, at least," Mel replied calmly, her composure beyond her years.

"Sister Sera, can I have some milk too?" one of the children asked, eyes gleaming.

"No, you can't. It's for Aron," Mel replied immediately, sounding protective.

Sera chuckled, watching Mel act like a true big sister.

She had already begun feeding the baby with the glass bottle.

"Mel, you're calling him Aron? Do you find the name 'Archon' unpleasant somehow?" she asked curiously.

Mel shook her head slightly, her brown hair swaying gently.

"No, I think it's short and sweet. I have no grudge against his birth name," she replied calmly.

"I see... that's good to hear. I like the name too. Alright, we'll call him Aron from now on," Sera declared, her face brimming with satisfaction.

"Awesome, I like it too, Sister Sera!" the other children chimed in excitedly.

Everyone was happy.

Just then—

"Wahh, waah, mwaah!"

Another sharp cry burst from Aron's small mouth.

Seraphina and the others paused, turning to see that the milk bottle had been emptied in barely a minute.

"Oh my, it looks like we have a little glutton in our family now," Sera laughed, cradling Aron closer as his tiny hands pawed at the empty bottle.
