Chapter 274: An Unexpected Gain — The Tricolored Origin-Devouring Beast
Life is full of surprises.
For example, getting a fully grown, dazzlingly golden daughter with a killer figure and pretty face—entirely for free.
Faced with the simple-minded, borderline dimwitted Ayesha, Allen naturally assumed a father-daughter relationship.
"Hold on, Daddy will get you some clothes."
Ayesha had just emerged from the solution, stark naked—he couldn't exactly let her wander around like that.
From the perspective of the High Evolutionary, there was nothing sexual about it. She was merely an experimental subject.
In the eyes of the beastfolk, only their own kind were considered aesthetically pleasing.
In contrast, hairless humans seemed odd and even repulsive—like skinned animals.
This was exactly why, in beastfolk society, the more hair one had, the higher one's social standing.
Allen took off his white lab coat and dressed Ayesha in the blue-and-white-striped patient gown he had underneath.
"Daddy, do I look nice?"
Wearing the gown, Ayesha spun in a circle happily—she looked exactly like a lunatic.
Allen even gave her his favorite pair of hard blue rubber slippers. Meanwhile, he was left in only his underwear with the white lab coat thrown on top, his hairy legs sticking out, making him look like a flasher in a trench coat.
"Very good."
A father's affirmation.
As for why Allen didn't wear the patient trousers and had underwear on instead—it was because he'd just changed before transmigrating.
Now, with no gear stored in his armpits or butt crack, there was no need for clothing to hide anything.
The Redemption Blade had been sold to a collector.
The Pig-Slaughtering Knife was used as a vessel for an illusion.
The only item he still had on him was the eerie Lantern Ring—worn in a very... unspeakable place.
"Are you with the rebel army?"
With so much rebel activity in a single day, Kevinna couldn't possibly have missed it.
Attacking the blood-sweat factories was news that had thrown beastfolk society into turmoil.
But what she really didn't understand was why they would attack the Supreme Tech Center.
"I'm an alien, here to rescue my teammates."
Allen explained everything truthfully.
He didn't hide any of the details, even mentioning the takeover of the satellite military base.
Kevinna found it hard to believe.
It was like a stranger walking up to you one day and saying your entire life was a lie—completely surreal.
"Then how do you explain this?"
Allen gestured at Ayesha, who was clinging to his clothes.
A shimmering golden sentient being like her couldn't possibly be native to planet Wundagore.
Kevinna had been undercover in the Supreme Tech Center for a long time and had seen plenty of bizarre experimental subjects.
At first, she'd assumed they were all clones produced by the company's research. But thinking it over now, there were just too many inconsistencies.
"I don't know."
The truth was simply too outrageous. Kevinna was conflicted.
After all, she had been taught from a young age that beastfolk were the result of natural selection and evolution. Accepting the idea that they were lab products was hard to swallow.
"I'll prove it to you."
Allen only needed to defeat the High Evolutionary and reveal the truth to the world.
But for now, his mission was to rescue his teammates.
At this point, Kevinna's value began to show.
Having been undercover for so long, she naturally knew where the experimental subjects were being held.
The three of them crept toward the storage area, knocking out any beastfolk scientists they ran into along the way and stuffing them into storage closets or bathrooms.
Kevinna raised her hand, signaling them to stop at the corner.
"Turn that corner and you'll reach the containment chamber. There are two guards posted at the door. I think we should send someone to draw them aw—"
She turned back mid-sentence and found Ayesha tilting her head, staring at her blankly. Clearly, the girl had no idea what she was talking about.
Bang! Bang!
Two heavy thuds echoed out. Kevinna peeked around the corner.
Allen had already embedded the two guards in exoskeleton armor straight into the wall. He waved them over. "Hurry up!"
"Coming, Daddy!"
Ayesha skipped over happily, clutching Allen's coat like a little tail.
"How did you even do that?"
Kevinna was stunned as she looked at the soldiers half-sunken into the concrete wall, their life or death uncertain.
How could anyone punch through such a thick wall so easily?
Even with powered exosuits, that shouldn't be possible.
"My ex-girlfriend and current girlfriend are both very hot-tempered."
Allen raised his hands as if to calm her. "Sorry about that."
"Huh?"
Kevinna's lips twitched. She didn't get it.
"I wasn't talking to you."
Allen looked guilty. "Lefty, Righty… I know I haven't let you two out in a long time. You must be mad. I'll make it up to you tonight after this is over."
"…"
So your ex and current lovers are your own hands. Self-sufficiency, huh?
Beep. Access denied. Please contact a supervisor-level staff member.
Kevinna tried the access panel and said awkwardly, "I'm just a regular employee—I don't have clearance."
"I got this."
Beep. Access granted. Welcome, Chief Scientist Gunan.
Allen scratched his head sheepishly. "Tch… turns out I robbed someone really important."
The alloy gate opened.
Inside were rows of cells containing experimental subjects—at least hundreds. Most of them were animals locked in cages.
Even the High Evolutionary probably couldn't explain where all of them came from.
Many valuable research specimens couldn't be acquired through legal means.
So he'd hired bounty hunters to poach them. Kidnapping intelligent lifeforms was strictly forbidden under Ravager law.
Back in the day, Yondu abducted a young Star-Lord from Earth. Because of that, many Ravager crews ostracized him, forcing him to recruit criminals and bounty hunters with shady pasts—which naturally came with the risk of mutiny.
"Yondu."
"Kelp."
"Uncle Da."
"Uncle Punishment."
"Purple Yam Demon."
"…"
As Allen searched for his teammates, he called out their nicknames.
Then he suddenly stopped, took a step back, and looked into a cage.
"Tricolor!?"
That's right—a tricolored cat, wearing a muzzle, was curled up inside.
After triple-checking, it was indeed the same Tricolor that would one day stay by his side in the future.
He snapped the iron lock open with his bare hands, took off the muzzle from its head, and cradled it in his arms.
"So we've known each other all along… No wonder you were so shameless, always rubbing up on my leg when we met."
"Meow…"
Beep beep beep beep…
Suddenly, sirens blared throughout the warehouse. Red lights flashed ominously.
"Daddy, I didn't mean to."
Ayesha ran up, flustered and apologetic. "I was just curious and pressed a red button."
Too late.
All the experimental subject containment doors had been unlocked at once.
"The High Evolutionary must be out of his mind. Who installs a button that opens everything? That's just absurd."
Not that there was any time to dwell on it.
Allen quickly scanned the area but didn't see his teammates. So he grabbed Ayesha and Kevinna and made for the exit.
The freed experimental subjects, looking for something to vent their rage on, tried to attack.
But after Allen convinced them with the universal language of fists, they quickly gave up any hostile intentions.
Mainly, their hatred was directed at the beastfolk scientists who'd experimented on them.
