The Root jounin's face tightened at the voice, Danzo, Root's supreme leader, unmistakable to him.
As a direct subordinate at this headquarters, he knew it well.
"Danzo-sama." The jounin dropping to one knee respectfully.
"Report." Danzo said, his gaze icy. Anyone would be livid finding their stronghold ransacked.
"Yes, Danzo-sama." The jounin recounting Tengen's forceful breach into the facility.
He was puzzled, the intruder hadn't stolen anything. What was the point of the attack?
"Nothing was taken?" Danzo's voice was low.
"Correct. The enemy used pure taijutsu, no ninjutsu, so we couldn't identify them."
"I see." Danzo inhaling deeply. "Where's Kinoe?"
To Danzo, Kinoe, a Wood Release user, was a valuable asset.
"Danzo-sama, Kinoe is here." A Root operative escorting a young boy forward.
"Kinoe, did the intruder do anything to you?" Danzo asked.
"No." Kinoe shook his head.
"Continue the investigation." Danzo ordered.
"Yes, Danzo-sama." The Root ninjas replied in unison.
"What happened here, Danzo?" Hiruzen arrived flanked by Anbu operatives.
"Just an enemy attack on Root." Danzo shook his head.
"An attack, and nothing stolen?" Hiruzen's expression shifted. Root held countless sensitive Konoha documents.
"Relax, Hiruzen. The critical files aren't here, and the intruder took nothing." Danzo said.
"They escaped." Hiruzen said, his hand pausing.
"Gone." Danzo said, his eyes flickering. "Their taijutsu was exceptionally strong."
"An enemy ninja?" Hiruzen asked gravely.
"No clue. I don't even know why they targeted here." Danzo said with a cold laugh.
Hiruzen studied Danzo. "If you learn anything, contact me."
"Of course." Danzo nodded.
Tengen's actions would likely remain an unsolved mystery. Even if Danzo later suspected him, he'd lack the power to act.
That night, Root and Anbu scoured Konoha, searching for clues.
Such destruction within the village was a humiliation.
Fortunately, Root's remote location prevented civilian panic.
Konoha's safety was its draw for residents. Villagers in the five great ninja villages were generally secure.
Only a fool, or someone like Pain, with devastating ninjutsu, would attack a village head-on, unless aiming for its annihilation.
Tengen slipped back to his home.
"Thrilling, but I got the video." He said, smirking. HD videos often yielded decent rewards, mid-tier at least.
"Let's see what it is." Tengen's checking the system. His eyes widened. "Didn't expect this."
The HD video was Naruto. Receiving videos from this world wasn't unusual.
"But extracting it here might be risky." Tengen murmured. "If it's something big like Red Bull or those cigarettes, it'd be a disaster."
And if that were a giant summoning beast crashing down and flattening houses, it would be hard to explain.
Coupled with Root's destruction, it'd fast-track him to defection, with Konoha interrogating him.
[No need to manifest items immediately, host. They can display in the system.]
"I'm tempted to punch you."

The system feigned innocence. He hadn't asked.
"Adjust the system. Display physical items first."
[Done, host.]
"Extract it." Tengen's hopeful for the HD video.
[Ding! Obtained Three-Tomoe Sharingan.]
The system announced, revealing blood-red eyes with three tomoe.
"Sharingan, huh?" Tengen said, intrigued. "Pretty good."
It wouldn't boost his strength much now, but it laid a foundation for a future Mangekyo.
"Absorb it." Tengen said. Crimson energy flowed into his eyes.
His pupils turned blood-red, two tomoe spinning, a third gradually forming.
Three tomoe swirled in his gaze.
"Three-Tomoe Sharingan complete." Tengen grabbed a mirror to inspect the change.
"Three-Tomoe Sharingan." He said, a smile spreading on his face.
