Yuyu takes a deep breath, her dramatic act finally dropping into something shy and hesitant. Her cheeks tint pink as she fiddles with the edge of her plate.
"Now, Yunhua," she says, almost whispering, "I want to say something… important."
I narrow my eyes, suspicious. "I know that tone. Say it. What is it?"
Her blush deepens, and she glances away like she's about to confess a crime. "Uhm… actually, I… I…" She squeezes her eyes shut. "I was asked out."
I almost drop my tea. "HUH? Really?!" My voice shoots up an octave. "Oh my god, Yuyu, really?! Who is it?!"
Her lips curl into a tiny smile, nervous but a little proud. "Our new senior. Your uni friend… Li Zeyan."
For a solid three seconds, I just stare. "Li Zeyan?"
She nods quickly, clutching her sandwich like it's her lifeline. "Yes. Him."
