"He meant that you really did well ~" Shizuka said this as she told Rei what Kaneki really meant after seeing her sad thinking that she is disappointed
"Thank you" Rei said as she looked towards Shizuka even though Rei could understand that Shizuka was mistaken her sadness was for another reason
But she doesn't intend to correct her since she doesn't want to ruin this peaceful mood by bringing him up which is gonna only make everyone upset
"By the way, how are we gonna cross the river?" Rei asked this question as she looked forward towards the river since she somewhat remembered the way and from what she knew, this river is in the way so they needed to cross it
But the problem is that they can't see a bridge or anything to cross which is definitely not good because at worst they need to cross it by swimming
Even though she might not problem but the problem she her clothes might get wet which definitely is not great and she thinks it's a problem for everyone here
"We're gonna cross it by swimming" Kaneki replied as he looked forward even though they might not be able to do it since it's too far away
But Kaneki can due to his super senses and knows the road ahead isn't an easy one also the fact that there are not only many many things blocking the paths like destroyed cars, bodies, fallen buildings but also the Bridge itself is broken
So the only way is to cross this river by swimming otherwise if they look for a way around the river then who knows how much time it might take
"Huh?! Why??" Saya asked this as she got up from her lying position as she really doesn't want her clothes to get wet
Even though she wants to reject what he told her but during her time with him, she clearly knows that he must have said this for some reason otherwise, he wouldn't suggest that
"There is no bridge in sight" Kaneki replied to her question as he thinks she will understand too what he is trying to tell
'He isn't wrong' Saya inwardly said this as she looked forward and found out not a single bridge as they needed to cross the river That's where they could continue their journey to her house
If they continue to path while killing all the zombies on the way then there is no saying how much time it would take them to find an actual bridge which they can use to cross the river without getting wet
And the main problem is that they don't have time since if they kept delaying then they surely might not be able to reach her home before nightfall
Which is really bad for them considering the fact that she knew how dangerous it might get dark, she knew they won't have a place to rest since unlike Kaneki they aren't monstrous as they need to sleep otherwise it will be really bad physically as well as mentally
Another thing is that yesterday she personally saw how zombies roam freely as well as in groups, and even a single sound might trigger them
Night is dangerous since she is sure it's gonna be really dark at night since street lights are mostly destroyed and moreover she can't be sure whether there will even be electricity here which will be really bad
Saya doesn't wanna spend the night worrying about these 'things' that will attack her at the slightest sound
Unlike during the day when they can avoid making sound by moving quietly as well as avoiding all the obstacles, at night they can't see the obstacles which is a real problem because they can't see where they are going
Even though she can't be sure whether Kaneki can see without any light sources at night or not but she won't be in any surprise if she can since from the moment she met him, she saw him do things which are considered impossible for human beings
"I see…" Saya replied in a low tone as she lowered her head since she knew Kaneki was right to say that due to the fact that they needed to hurry as much as possible
"But what about Alice? I dont think it will be safe to let her swim in the river" Saeko speak this as she looks towards Kaneki since it's obvious it's dangerous for her to cross the river
There are 2 reasons for that first one is because she is just a kid so the chances of her knowing how to swim are slim to none as well as from the looks of deep even for an adult like her let alone for a kid like her
The second reason is that she doesn't have any additional clothes to wear after her clothes get wet since she will easily catch an illness or diseases if she swims in river water which is normally not
Recommended especially for a child let alone when water might be infected by viruses and bacteria
To this moment, Alice couldn't help but lower her head while feeling sad and scared as she was thinking that they were gonna leave her here
"I will take her" Kaneki replied as he also agreed with what Saeko said this as taking her to the other side isn't a problem since she could carry her with his power to the other side without letting a single drop touch her body
*sigh*
'As I thought Super Hero brother is really the best' Alice said this in her mind as she couldn't help but release a sigh of relief after hearing what he said and understanding that he won't be leaving her alone
After hearing this they all couldn't help but look at him with eyes like they wanted something at this moment and Kaneki who is sensitive to this sensation
He could tell that there was something they all wanna say but for some reason, they were hesitating
"Is there something?" Kaneki finally opened his mouth as he asked this after not being able to ignore the glances they were casting on him
"I mean kan-chan~ you can take us too~ right?~" Shizuka asked this as she came close to him since if it was a normal swimming pool then she might not have had any problem
