Chapter 7 - A parallel universe

"Butler Lu," she began, her tone urgent, "I need you to contact the cameraman or the videographer. I want the birth footage. All of it."

A pause, "You asked them to delete them, Miss..." Before Butler Lu could say more, Chen Yiran cut him off.

"I know! but, someone might still be having it," She said, her voice steady, "It might still be in their cloud."

Butler Lu hesitated before responding, "We checked every camera before they left."

"Someone still has it." She was certain, "They might have it. Maybe in their phone. Not everyone deletes things completely! You know, Defiant people."

"They should get punished!" Butler Lu exclaimed ready to take action.

"What?" Chen Yiran blinked, shocked at what he had said.

"Based on the rules, If anyone is found to have illegally taken or in possession of a video or photo of a member of the royal family or Wang family, which is considered as betrayal of trust, they will be punished by heavy fine or three years of enforced servitude." Butler Lu enacted the rule as if he had learned it by heart.

'What the...'

"Butler Lu," Chen Yiran schooled her expression, masking her confusion, "We are not punishing the guys, Okay?" she continued, "I need the footage from them."

"It is a crime. They will be charged guilty if found...." Chen Yiran cut him off.

'This old man!'

"Butler Lu, I need the footage urgently," she emphasized.

He hesitated, "They know its a crime, they will not bring it."

"Then put a fucking bounty on the goddamn video," Chen Yiran was losing it, "Place it at 100,000 dollars"

Butler Lu was flabbergasted, He had never heard Chen Yiran cursing before, "Dollars?" then he carefully asked, "What is dollars?"

Silence.

A strange unease pricked at the back of her neck. That wasn't a normal question

'They don't use dollars?' 'What do they use?' 'Pounds?' 'Euros?' 'Yuan?'

Seeing Butler Lu still waiting for an answer, "Money," she said to which Langley still didn't get, "Currency," she said.

"How many Frostmarks should I place?" Butler Lu asked as soon as he understood what Chen Yiran tried to say.

'Frost? What?' Chen Yiran wondered.

'Is that a currency or what?'

"One hundred thousand," She answered.

Butler Lu for a minute remained motionless, looking at her like she had grown two heads.

"One hundred thousand Frost..." Chen Yiran repeated though she didn't remember its full name so she left it at that.

"Miss Chen," Butler Lu swallowed his saliva, "That is a lot!"

"You put it at what you think its best!" she left it at his disposal. She didn't know nothing about their currency. Even the name itself was something she had never heard of before.

"I'll put it at 10 Embers," Butler Lu decided before excusing himself, bowing then leaving.

'Embers'

'Frost...'

'Where the hell am I ?'

Chen Yiran sat still, she tried piecing the gaps but she still remained with spaces. She then flew to the stand where her tablet was charging at. Her fingers ran swiping across the screen as she began searching for answers.

She didn't know what to begin with, 'Where am I?' That's what she searched.

'You are currently in FrostVale Empire, Silverpine city.' That's the answer she got.

'FROSTVALE?!'

"Did they make another country?" She asked herself not even daring to believe it.

She wasn't in England. She thought the people had this strong accent but what did she just see? FrostVale Empire!

An empire she never heard of. An empire that never existed in her world.

"Or I am in heaven?" She wondered.

A chill slithered down her spine. Her fingers flew across the keypad as she typed frantically.

Her home country. Came as a singer's name.

Her city. Does not exist.

Her name. Nothing

She was a renowned doctor. She had had many interviews so 'An Chuxia' had to be on the internet.

Donald Trump. A tennis player

"What?" she was confused. He was even different from the one people knew.

The search results made her breath hitch.

A cold realization settled in her chest.

She wasn't just lost.

She was in another universe. A parallel universe.

She typed 'history of FrostVale'. She had to know things about the empire if she wanted to survive. And according to what the butler had told her, it seemed FrostVale had strict rules to follow which she definitely wouldn't survive not knowing. She didn't even know what currency they used.

'FrostVale empire now under the rule of King Long Ri (IV) and Queen Long Wei, once a land of warring clans and fractured kingdom, the empire rose from the ashes of bloodshed under the rule of King Long He Nan and General Wang Zhi He, who united the warring clans into a formidable empire.

The economy is driven by Frostmarks, the highest and rarest, used exclusively by the elite and nobility. Below it are Crowns, the gold standard for merchants and aristocrats, followed by Embers, the everyday currency of the working class. The lowest tier are Shards, small copper or iron pieces used by commoners for basic small-scale trades and necessities.'

"A single Frostmark can buy a small estate or fund a mercenary company and here I was offering one hundred thousand! That's why Butler Lu looked at me like that," Chen Yiran reasoned before she began laughing.

'1 Frostmark = 5000 Crowns = 100000 Embers = 5000000 Shards'

'A handful of Shards can buy a meal for the commoners, but hold no to little value in noble circles'

She scrolled down where she found over fifty thousand rules.

"I am a member of the Wang family, obviously no one is going to ask me any of these," She skipped the rules with that in thought.

Zhang Pei stepped inside Energy Hospital, she had an errand to run. After a few minutes, she left the hospital.

Travis walked leisurely through the hospital hallways, hands tucked into his white coat, barely paying attention to where he was going. Until a quiet exchange near the nurses' station caught his attention.

"Miss Chen sent this for a test. Get it to the lab immediately." A doctor, Dr. Renata handed a sealed vial to a nurse.

Travis barely broke stride, his interest piqued instantly

'Miss Chen?'

"Chen Yiran?"

His gaze flickered toward the vial before the nurse whisked it away. Without hesitation, he brought his hand to fish out his phone. He didn't have his phone with him. The gossip waiting to ignite! He couldn't wait! He ran towards his office.

Nurses and doctor who saw him running like a possessed human being didn't react, Guess he is a repeated offender.

On arriving, he took his phone, his fingers moving swiftly as he dialed Wang Zichen's number with an unmistakable thrill.

The line was barely picked.

"Guess what?" Travis drawled the moment the call connected, "You'll love me!" a grin tugging his lips, "Chen Yiran just sent something for a test!"
