Subaru stared at the paper, skimming over it and learning that he, in fact, can't read shit.
'Man this is some Bullshit. Why is it still so hard to decipher?'
And with that thought, he folded under the weight of his curiosity and activated the translation functions of Realmhart, finally understanding the contents of the paper.
Glancing back at the maid to see if she was still asleep and after confirming he began to go through it.
After an hour or so of theorizing, calculating, finally he got up. Putting the paper back in the book, subaru exit his room without noticing the blue haired maid hiding behind a corner.
His mind was too occupied to care for anything else. He walked out of the mansion and into the moonlit garden of margrave manor and sat down between the golden flowers he grew.
'So, the theory is just as simple as anything. The gate absorbs the mana in the surroundings and allows one to use it.'
From the two energies flowing through his secondary circulatory system he separated a strand and let it pass into his blood stream.
'I can evolve the charging skill already with the control but it will become useless from the large cost and not to mention, my body would rupture without reaching at least hundred in endurance.'
Subaru let out a sigh, scratching his head and gazed at the moon, annoyance flashing in his eyes.
'Man, why do those regression stories make it look so easy to get stronger?'
His musings paused as he finally felt something in his body. Something circular, humming with power.
'Finally. Now I just need to let it open.... slow and steady.....'
Subaru's focus shifted from the strand of gold to the mystical organ that began to open, pain exploded in his mind growing with time.
".....almost..... I can.... feel it....."
Sweat drenched him from head to toe and soon, blood began to flow out of his nose and after what seemed like hours, he felt it.
His mind felt liberated, the pain slowly fading behind the feeling of power coursing through his veins. He had done it.... he had Awakened it.
[Your gate has been activated! The Realmhart records your achievement]
Subaru opened his eyes, blood trickling out of his nostrils but a smile of satisfaction forming on his face. He looked to the horizon and saw the first light of dawn peaking out.
"It's morning already? How.... long did... I...?"
Subaru fell backwards, his vision turning dark as unconsciousness claimed him. His body relaxed and lost all vigilance.
Soon, the blue haired maid walked up to his sleeping form, her face was as monotonous as ever but her eyes revealed a complex set of emotions.
Anger, hate, confusion, reluctance. Thoughts running through her head as she continued to glare at the boy's blood covered face.
'The witch's scent.... it has diminished, just like the morning. That golden light somehow erases the miasma. Why? Why would a cultist wish to remove her scent when they are so obsessed with her?'
Rem's glare turned colder and she crouched next to his face, her hand reaching for something behind her.
'Natsuki Subaru.... who are you really? Are you a deranged cultist, or a priest as you claim yourself to be? '
She brought her hand forward, holding a clean cloth and gently wiped the blood off of his face.
"I truly wish for it to be the latter... Subaru kun."
_______________
Subaru felt something soft pressing on his face and muffled voices in his ears that slowly became clearer.
"Puck, can you tell what's wrong?"
A worried smooth voice asked and the small soft weight on his face lifted before another small voice began to speak.
"He's asleep. It seems he exhausted himself and fell unconscious here."
"Mgnhnhh....!"
Subaru groaned from the pain of light of the morning sun hitting his eyes and sat up.
His body felt numb but it soon began to gain feeling and the energy flowing in his veins also became clearer.
He smiled at the feeling. His body wasn't any stronger but it now gained another form of energy. His mouth opened and he mumbled a few words out.
"I really did it huh. Great."
"Did what?"
His were cut at the sound of the same voice that was worried before, but now it was laced with confusion.
Subaru finally focused on his surroundings and remembered he fell unconscious in the garden and now emilia and puck were there.
"Uhhh... good morning mili-tan, puck, I just opened my gate."
Subaru greeted them and answered her confusion only for her cute face to light up.
"Really?? That's great! Puck, can you check his element?"
Emilia spoke with excitement and anticipation making the other two chuckle before puck floated toward Subaru and placed his hand on Subaru's forehead.
"Alright, alright! I'll check his elemen-!!..."
Puck stopped speaking almost instantly, his small eyes widening from shock, confusing both Subaru and emilia.
"What's wrong puck? Is something wrong?"
Emilia spoke, the excitement dissipating and the worry return. Subaru himself was confused. The Realmhart didn't show any problem with his gate.
"He.... he has all of them."
Puck whispered in astonishment, first time ever seeing someone who has all the elements.
He knew that rarely someone can learn to harness all the elements like roswaal but Subaru had just learned to channel mana.
"Uhhh.... Puck? What happened? Why are you so quiet?"
Emilia asked, scooting closer to them, worry and anticipation appearing on her face.
"Huh- oh- no, no! Nothing is wrong lia! I was just a little surprised that's all! And as for your affinity with elements... you have all of them!"
Emilia and Subaru were awestruck at the revelation of such news, emilia more so since subaru remembered how his [divine circle of elements] had reacted to it.
"That's amazing Subaru! This means you can use any element you want with your own power!"
Subaru smiled at the enthusiastic goofball of an elf and returned his focus to the flying cat.
"So, got anything else to tell me? Like, what are the "all elements"?
Any drawbacks?"
At subaru's query, puck nodded and began explaining the six elements being fire, water, earth, wind, yin and yang.
"You possess all of them but it seems your strongest affinity is with yin and yang. I don't have much for yang magic because how rare it is but I can teach you yin magic."
Puck offered and Subaru accepted gladly. From what he learned, yin magic is to place debuffs on others.
Subaru stood up and went to the middle of the garden with puck. Emilia remained seated and gave him a nod of confidence.
Puck lifted his paws infront of subaru's face and took a deep breath before yelling out the yin spell.
"Shamak!"
Suddenly, everything turned pitch black. Subaru was unable to see, hear or smell anything. Instead of panicking, he took a deep breath which felt weird because he only felt it entering his lungs.
Spreading his senses out he activated his sensing skill and checked his surroundings. Emilia was still seated in the same place and puck was snickering right front of his face.
Subaru grinned and swiftly grabbed the mischievous spirit and began to smoothly caress its fur making the snicker turn into full blown laughter.
The smoke dissipated and emilia saw Subaru playing with puck in the same place where they were before.
"Haha- sto- ha! Stop-hohoho su-subaru! hahaha!"
The cat managed to wheeze out between fits of laughter and after a little more he finally stopped, letting puck take deep breathes and float up to his shoulder.
"Now. Channel your mana and yell out the spell to change its property to yin."
Puck explained after taking a seat on his shoulder. Subaru nodded and lifted his hand and gathering his mana, he uttered.
"Shamak..."
And that's when shit went down. The entire garden, the Forrest around and half of the mansion, All were suddenly flooded with smoke that looked like shadows given form.
It disappeared as soon as it appeared, leaving Subaru on the ground wheezing like he was deprived of oxygen. His body felt utterly drained, just like when Beatrice had absorbed his mana.
"Puck.... you didn't explain.... the amount I needed to use...."
The cat stuck out his tongue and bonked himself on the head while smiling sheepishly.
"Sorry! I kinda forgot! It seems all that laughing made me forget to tell you the basic amount of mana required to cast it!"
'This petty little-'
