Luna held the paper that looked torn out of a book in her right hand, staring at it as she read it aloud.
"Day 1, Dad told me that I should keep a diary from now on, to write any thoughts that come to my mind. He's so wonderful and smart! Well, that's a given! I don't have anything really on my mind to write for today, so that's all."
Scratching her neck, Luna thought for a while. Who wrote this? This place is really weird. No one lives here. This place is massive, but why?
Just as Luna finished the thought, the chandelier in the middle of the room lit up, its brightness flooding the space and revealing a warmly decorated room. There was a simply decorated table with white lily flowers and four red leathery sofas around it. A fireplace stood to Luna's right. She looked around, seeing so many dressers—at least twenty in total—lined against the walls around the entire room.
But something caught her eye: a peculiar painting on the left side wall, in front of the fireplace. It was shrouded in shadow, despite the room being illuminated by the chandelier. She walked up to it and touched it, thinking, Why are you covered in shadow? I want to see it.
Just as she thought that, the shadow dissipated and revealed the painting—or at least what was left of it.
In the middle stood a girl, a beautiful girl. She was captivating. Her peerless beautiful white hair, blue eyes, and pure white skin. Luna was instantly mesmerised by her beauty, unable to look away. The girl looked warmly forward while leaning back on someone, but the more Luna looked, the more confused she grew.
She raised her eyebrow and covered her mouth with her hand, thinking silently.
That girl was the only one left on the painting. The people that were around her were sliced, slashed violently, or more precisely, ripped apart from the painting itself. Only shreds of it remained, but the girl was left intact.
Why? Luna thought.
She touched the painting. Who are you?
She shook her head and turned away. I'm sure I'll know if I just explore more! Now… where do I go?
Luna couldn't decide as to where to go, due to there being three additional doors leading to somewhere in this monstrously huge palace.
"Where should I go?" Luna said out loud and turned towards the painting. She jolted as she saw the girl's head now looking towards the doors on the left from the painting.
"W-what?" Luna murmured, her voice shaking from excitement.
"Thank you, lady! I don't know what you are or who, but one thing is sure! I'm happy that you helped me choose!" Luna smiled from ear to ear, waved to the girl on the painting, and ran towards the door. Opening it, she passed through, leaving the doors open.
A while passed, and the girl in the painting returned her head to the position she had before and with a hateful disdain, she moved away from the man she was leaning on.
…
Luna ran down the corridor, looking into every single room: a kitchen, a restroom, a library, and a guest room. Those four rooms were behind the four doors in the corridor, but there was yet one more left. At the end of the long corridor was a door, white lilies carved out of the wood, and in the middle of those doors was a sign whose content was "Nivaris."
Such a thing couldn't be left unexplored, so Luna walked up to the door. Grabbing the handle, she walked in.
The room was demolished. Every piece of furniture was destroyed; the table, the dressers, the bed, and even the chandelier were in pieces. The chandelier was barely holding, hanging only on a torn string.
What happened here? Luna wondered as she walked in, looking around.
The more she looked, the more she noticed. The pinkish walls were dented as if someone was throwing stuff violently at them. The furniture was smashed by someone deliberately; it didn't look decayed at all.
Luna touched the pieces of wood, but they were as hard as wood is, with no sign of any decay.
This perplexed Luna to the bone. What would push a person to do something like this?
She thought while standing up. Sighing, she walked up to the bed, where the only thing left intact was a fluffy white pillow.
So Luna picked it up, but as she did, she uncovered a book hidden underneath the pillow.
Intrigued, Luna threw the pillow to the side and picked the book up. Opening it, she saw every page of the book ripped out.
It didn't really shock Luna at all due to the state of the room she was in, but thinking what the content was, she remembered the paper she found, the one that looked torn out of a book. So she grabbed it and held it close to the book, trying to fit the page to see if it would.
Surprisingly, the page lit up gently with a golden glow. As it did, the page fused with the book, returning one page to its original state.
Oh, so that's why I found a page lying there… I get it now… Luna thought while shaking her head up and down.
"I have to find every page left on this land… Don't worry, whoever wrote this book! I'll find the pages of this diary for you and assemble it back together!" she shouted, holding her right arm with the book up high, loudly proclaiming her task.
With a grin on her face and a slight blush, she turned toward the entrance to the room and started slowly walking, saying, "I am having so much fun!"
