RAE POV
The ceremony proceeded and ended soon afterwards, but the silence that ensued after I kissed Alpha Kendrick didn't fully lift. I kept feeling them glancing my way and some openly glared at me.
At the ceremony, Alpha Kendrick just takes my hand and lead us away from the gathering. I looked up and saw a strange smirk on his face, it gave of a proud possessive look and a gulped hard, wondering what that would mean for me.
Although I was sceptical, I didn't resist him and followed along obediently, walking side by side, trying to feel confident despite hearing all the jealous whispers and hateful stare follow me. Fortunately, because I'm with Alpha Kendrick, they couldn't afford to act out and I was protected.
We arrived at Kendrick's quarters 20 minutes later and my heart couldn't stop beating and I feared Alpha Kendrick could hear it.
The tension in the room was overwhelming and was suffocating me. The interior of the room had a dark monotone to it and felt lifeless, so the scene was properly set for whatever vile thing that could happen to me here.
I was then regretting my actions. I shouldn't have kissed him on impulse now he's going to finish what I've started no matter what, what werewolf wouldn't?
I stood there in front of him in silence waiting for him to act, I expected him to touch me, to continue what I started at Jerome's mating ceremony—but after more than a minute passed, he still didn't make a move.
I looked up and found him studying me intently. I've noticed he enjoys doing this, just watching me and what I'll do next just as how I wait for his next move.
Finally, his mouth moved, a sly smirk tugged at his lips, "You made a bold move back there today." He chuckled, his blue eyes always watching me, not leaving me for a second. "I guessed you wouldn't stand still at the ceremony like you did last time but for a timid person like you? I was not expecting that." He laughed out loud like he was enjoying himself and the situation. Well he obviously is.
I wanted to tell him that it was just a little reaction from what he did to me and it's the least of what's coming to him as I plan my revenge but instead I said…
"I… I was… I was caught up at the moment… sorry." I bowed my head, I was so embarrassed.
I took a peak at him from my lashes and saw him staring at me with an intense gaze I knew all too well, Alpha Kendrick took a step closer, my heart begun pounding in my chest, I was surprised I desired him this much.
He leaned in close, brushed his lips against my ear, "More like you could no longer resist me, just look, your eye's all red again." He chuckled, the sound of his laughter filled my ears and vibrated through my body like electric. Everywhere became hot and suddenly I forget how to breathe.
"I'll give you what you want, don't worry."
Alpha Kendrick ignites something inside of me, making my heart skip with just a few words.
Are we going to be left off where I started at the ceremony? Will he take it even further?
I find myself dreading his next move yet oddly excited.
Luckily, Alpha Kendrick's Beta walks in, interrupting the moment—to both my relief and disappointment.
The displeasure from the interruption was evident in Alpha Kendrick's eyes. The Beta informed him that there are things that need to be finalized and agreements that need to be made because of the mating ceremony and his presence is needed, and Alpha Kendrick decided now's the best time to have it done.
He walked up to me in long and steady strides, his sudden movement somehow made my heart start racing and I instinctively stepped backwards, putting distance between us, but that was all for naught because he instantly closed the distance again and cupped my chin before raising it to look at him.
"From now on, you'll stay in my bed chambers, have I made myself clear."
I nodded in obedience but deep down, my heart sank because I knew what this meant. I have made his possession, his sex toy, a slave to him to be at his beck and call. I no longer have freedom.
After he left, I sat on the sofa to wait on him but I didn't know when I gave in to the darkness and was fast asleep.
The darkness was endless and I couldn't find a way out until I was suddenly engulfed in fire, it spread everywhere fast and burned aggressively. The entire floor was bloodied but I didn't know who's blood they were.
The scene before me was horrific and I scream in terror, hoping someone will find and help me but nobody came.
I cried as the fire kept coming closer and closer and I suddenly heard a banging sound growing increasingly louder and louder until I jumped up.
Was I sweating profusely, the pillow was soaked as well as my gown. The weather was hot, sleeping in that gown wasn't the best idea.
I tried taking in deep breaths to calm myself but I suddenly heard banging from the door. It startled me but I soon realized I was in an unfamiliar bedroom because it was Alpha Kendrick's.
Alpha Kendrick probably has returned and wants me to let him in.
Thinking this, I calmed down and got off the sofa. It was weird why he had to knock instead of just entering his own room?
Maybe he's trying to respect me? And because he thought I was sleeping so he knocked loudly to wake me up?
I came up with reasoning as I rushed over and open the door expecting but I froze in place when I saw Jerome stand behind the door instead.
Before I could even react, he grabbed me by the neck.
