Alpha Kendrick stared intently at Rae as he strode closer to her, before he closes their distance, she tried to stabilize her breathing so he didn't catch on.
When he got closer, she sat up and he bent down to her level. He examined her face carefully, as if searching for something. His hands caressed her face, leaving tingling sensations as they moved. Rae's heart kept thumping wildly and she was getting excited again, like she wasn't in a dear death experience moments ago.
"It seems there are no bruises." He whispered but more to himself, Rae's heart skipped a beat from hearing those words.
'He was searching for bruises, which means he was worried about me?' Rae thought to herself. 'Or he just does not want his property to be damaged. That makes more sense seeing how possessive he is of me.'
Rae saw the flaring anger in Alpha Kendrick's deep blue eyes slowly subdued, that was a good sign, she couldn't agitate him even more so before he noticed, she quickly used her hair to cover her neck. Jerome's grip might have left a mark and she couldn't risk Alpha Kendrick seeing them at that moment.
His hold on her face loosen, and his left hand trailed down her face to the top of her chest above her bust before dropping to his side. Rae felt the heat engulf her again and she didn't know what to do with herself for feeling this way after all that's happened today. Subconsciously, her eyes turned red and this didn't go noticed by Alpha Kendrick's watchful gaze.
Alpha Kendrick suddenly chuckled then took her lips in his and kissed Rae again. It was hot and demanding and she felt a surge of emotion as they kissed but she had to break free from him for now, she hadn't fully caught her breath after being almost suffocated to death and she couldn't breathe while kissing.
"I'm tired." Rae dared to say to him.
"Is anything wrong? Are you okay?" Alpha Kendrick immediately asked, Rae noticed the panic flashed through his eyes for just a second.
"No, I'm fine." she continued her lie, subtly glancing down her neck to see if the mark was visible or not, when she realized it's not, she continued,"I'm just tired. I'll drink water and go back to sleep."
'That concern couldn't possibly be genuinely for me but for me as his property. I'm not sure if I even saw correctly, maybe because I was choked, I was seeing things.' she thought dishearteningly but quickly pulled herself back.
To Rae's surprise, Alpha Kendrick nodded in understanding, his shoulder-length hair swaying as he nodded. His eyes shined under the moonlight penetrating from the window, he cupped her face and placed a kiss on her forehead, took another look at her before he got up. "I understand and I'll leave you to rest." He said and Rae was shocked.
'He was going to leave his own room for me? Is he serious?' her thoughts spiralled, 'What's gotten into him? I thought I was merely a toy to him? A sex toy, used only to entertain himself or de-stress?'
Alpha Kendrick actually left the room, and Rea walked to the door to see if he'll change his mind and come back but he didn't. She watched as his silhouette disappeared from her view before she shut the door.
She slapped her forehead then slummed to the floor and groaned. "I'm always the one making the moment intimate," she grumbled to herself. "My eyes probably got red again and it made him think I was interested. I'm such a fool!" she continued insulting herself before getting up to get herself a glass of water.
"I have to be careful around Alpha Kendrick since he's not going to kill me just yet. I can't let my entanglement with him detour me from my revenge plans. Jerome must get what's coming to him no matter what." she mumbled to herself.

In the study room of newly appointed Alpha Jerome, he roared in anger as he flung all the stationeries on his desk. "Ahhh!" The sound of his voice was louder than the crashing sounds from the things he just furiously flung.
"Shit, shit, shit." he cursed under his breath as his hands roamed through his hair.
"I'll go mad with the way things are going!" he shouted.
'But I cannot let that happen. Rae, that whore! Just what did she do to have already trapped Alpha Kendrick like that?' Jerome questioned himself, deep in thoughts.
Back at Alpha Kendrick's bedroom, the worry in Alpha Kendrick's eyes when he saw Rae on the floor was undeniable and the fury that rose up in his eyes could burn down a pack. If not for Rae, Jerome knew he might have been dead by now.
"Dammit!" he cursed under his breath. He doesn't even want to acknowledge that Rae actually held power over him and decided whether he'd live or not. "Fucking stupid bitch."
"With the way things are going, she might have more authority over me if she curries more favour from the Alpha and from the looks of things, that might happen sooner than later." he rambled to himself.
A knock suddenly came at the door but he didn't answer, he was still fuming and mortified by the way Rae embarrassed him and didn't want to see anyone right now.
"Are you okay in there?" Olivia's voice asked from behind the door. She didn't finish her sentence before she pushed open the door to the study room and stride over to Jerome.
Jerome tried not to look at her, but the concern on her face was evident even from a quick glance.
"What's wrong, Jerome? You know you can tell me anything?" Worry laced in her tone and it softened Jerome's resolve a bit. He sighed then turned to her, "It's that whore, Rae. After that stunt she pulled at the ceremony, I went to teach her a lesson so she knows her place, but Alpha Kendrick protected her and she was the one who decided my fate, that damn cheap she-wolf!" he yelled, his anger surging up again.
"I am not sure what place she holds in Alpha Kendrick's eyes right now and I fear she'll soon hold a position over us."
After Jerome was done, a sly smile spread across Olivia's face as she suggests:
"Why don't we turn Alpha Kendrick against her?"
