The Nightmare and a New Day
Rose was lying on her bed when suddenly she had a terrible nightmare. She woke up with a start, frightened, and with trembling hands, picked up a glass of water and began to drink. This dream was nothing new for her. She would often see a strange creature in her dreams, one that had a horn on its head. She would always be running from it, and there would never be anyone to save her. This dream came to her again and again, and each time she would wake up in the same panic. Tonight was no different.
Even after drinking water, she couldn't fall back asleep.
The next morning, she washed her face and got ready for work. As she stepped out of the house, she saw Jackup standing in front of her. She said,
"Whatever had to be said between us was said yesterday — what more do you want?"
She turned and started walking away. Before Jackup could say anything, she added,
"If you've come because of the painting, I've already forgotten it. I don't want to repeat the past."
With that, she left. She didn't listen to a single word Jackup was about to say. The truth was, Jackup had come to return her purse, but he didn't get the chance.
Rose had applied for a nursing job, and she had gotten it because she had studied for it — not because she wanted to, but because her parents wished for it. She thought maybe she could manage both jobs at the same time, but it seemed difficult. Still, she wasn't one to give up. She told herself she would only do what her heart truly wanted.
It was her first day at the job. She didn't enjoy it at all. All she wanted was for the day to end so she could go to the studio and paint. At the hospital, she saw a doctor — her childhood friend. He was now a successful and respected doctor. Rose was very happy to see him because she considered him more than just a friend. She still remembered how, when her parents wouldn't let her paint, he would take her to his house and let her paint there. Seeing him made her feel like someone was finally on her side again.
She walked up to him and said, "How are you, John?"
John turned around and immediately recognized her. They both were delighted to see each other. He took her to his office, and they sat there, talking for a while.
Meanwhile, Jackup asked his assistant to find out everything about Rose. He wanted to know who she really was. When the assistant brought the information, it turned out that Rose's father had once been a very good doctor but had left his job. Her mother was also a doctor, and Rose was their only child. She had studied in Bosan and later moved to Italy for work. She had done her MBBS and was a heart specialist.
Jackup asked, "If she studied medicine, then why does she paint?"
The assistant replied, "I don't know — but this is the information we have."
Adrian, a famous businessman, was not only known for his power but also his cruelty. He was always trying to take over Jackup's company. Hurting others meant nothing to him. That's why Jackup wanted to find out the truth behind the loss his company faced and who was spreading the rumors — but he couldn't share this with anyone. He knew he was being watched all the time. That's why he had changed his appearance.
Adrian had also instructed one of his men to find out where Jackup was. He wanted Jackup to be followed — and that's exactly what he did.
After finishing her shift, Rose left work at 9 PM. She had told her family she'd be home by 11, but she was heading to her studio. Before going to the studio, she met up with a friend. She told him she really didn't want to do this job. Her friend knew exactly who she was talking about. He said he wanted her to meet someone. Rose asked who, but he told her he couldn't reveal it just yet — and then he left.
