Chapter 228 - Chapter 228: What’s Meant to Come Will Still Come

Bianca opened her mouth, but before she had time to speak,

Kiana had already lunged over and hugged her tightly.

"Big sis, you're back! I missed you so much!"

Bianca froze, then gently hugged her back. "Mm, I'm back, Kiana…"

Because Siegfried had caught a cold last night, Cecilia had taken him to the hospital early in the morning.

As for Sirin, she had locked herself in her room, doing who knows what.

In the living room, after taking a sip of coffee, Bianca looked up at Kiana sitting on the other side of the sofa.

"You just said you guys had a gathering yesterday?"

"Yep~" Kiana replied while playing on her phone, "And we're planning to go have fun at a newly opened resort in a few days…"

"Oh right! Bianca-sis, do you want to come with us?"

Hearing this, Bianca instinctively wanted to refuse.

After all, returning home this time was just a sudden decision to try recovering her memories, her work hadn't been finished yet.

If she really went, wouldn't the whole studio be in chaos?

Truly worthy of being the silly goose, so meticulous with work, no matter the situation.

'Life isn't easy.' Rita sighed.

However, just as Bianca was about to open her mouth to answer Kiana, her intuition told her not to refuse.

So, against her better judgment, Bianca said, "If I have time, I'll go check it out."

"Yay!" Kiana immediately sent the address to her phone. "I heard there's even a hot spring there, it's gonna be super fun!"

The sound of the door opening came from the entryway.

Cecilia walked in carrying a medicine bag, and her eyes lit up when she saw Bianca. "Bianca, you're back?"

"Mom." Bianca stood up and nodded slightly. "I'm back."

After putting down the medicine bag, Cecilia walked over and hugged her.

"Work must've been tough, huh? You look like you've lost weight."

"Just regular work." Bianca shook her head. "By the way, where's Dad?"

"He's getting an IV drip at the hospital. The cold got worse." Cecilia shook her head helplessly. "Told him to cut down on drinking, but he just wouldn't listen."

At that moment, Kiana suddenly jumped up from the sofa and ran toward her room upstairs.

"Mom, Sis… Bronya's calling me! I'll excuse myself first!"

She grabbed her phone and ran upstairs, then suddenly stopped and turned back to say, "Oh right! Bianca-sis, you have to come if you're free, okay?"

After Kiana left, the living room quieted down again.

After a brief silence, Bianca suddenly asked, "Mom, I have a question I want to ask you…"

Cecilia, "Is it about the past?"

Hearing that, Bianca paused, then looked deeply at her mother.

"Yes…" Bianca hesitated for a moment, then poured out all the confusion in her heart.

Looking at her eldest daughter's conflicted face, Cecilia's expression stayed calm on the surface, but deep down, she was already cursing a certain someone a thousand times over.

'That damn guy, just had to mess with my whole family, huh?'

———

Meanwhile, inside her room, Sirin was standing in front of the mirror, trying on a purple yukata while muttering to herself,

"Hmph! It's not like I prepared this on purpose! I just… just happened to see it on sale!"

Truly worthy of being a tsundere blowfish, hardest mouth in the world.

Just then, her phone suddenly vibrated.

It was a message from her best friend Aponia,

[Sirin, based on the intel I gathered, these outfits are the most man-killing ones this year. You might want to check them out…]

Looking at the ridiculously embarrassing outfits in the chat, Sirin's face instantly turned red. She quickly typed, "W-Who even asked you about that?!"

She dove onto her bed, buried her face in a pillow, and kicked at the covers in flustered panic.

After a while, Sirin sneakily pulled out her phone again and replied,

[Um… send the link over. I want to see how many shameless people would actually buy clothes this embarrassing…]

———

Time passed quickly, and soon it was the day they'd agreed to go to the resort.

In the early morning, sunlight streamed through the windows into Kiana's room, where she was frantically rummaging through her closet.

"No way… I swear I put the clothes here. Where'd they go?"

After tossing everything upside down, Kiana still couldn't find her clothes.

With the meetup time getting closer, Kiana had no choice but to call for backup.

"Mom!" she shouted downstairs. "Have you seen my yukata and swimsuit?"

Cecilia walked in with a coffee in hand, shaking her head as she looked at the mess. "Didn't I help you pack them into the storage box at the bottom of your closet yesterday?"

Saying that, Cecilia bent down, dug through the pile of clothes, and pulled out a white storage box, inside were Kiana's neatly folded outfits.

"See? Right under your nose and you didn't see it?" Cecilia tapped Kiana's forehead playfully. "You're this grown up and still act like a little kid."

"Hehe, thanks Mom~" Kiana scratched her head in embarrassment as she took the box.

With Cecilia's help, Kiana quickly finished packing.

As she rolled her suitcase out of the room, she bumped into Sirin, who was also just stepping out of her room.

Sirin glanced at Kiana, then casually peeked at the suitcase behind her, and gave a cold snort.

But as she watched Kiana's figure going downstairs, Sirin's mood suddenly turned sour, and she instinctively kicked the door frame.

'Hmph! It's just a group trip. What's there to be jealous about?'

'Once I have time, I'll drag Van on a couples' getaway, let's see if they don't all die of envy!'

But after a while, when she saw that Kiana was really about to head out the door, Sirin felt really unsettled.

'Clearly I was the first one here… so how did it come to this?'

Just then, a voice spoke beside her.

"You really not going? There's still time to pack, you know~"

Sirin turned around and saw Kiana returning to grab something, standing there with a half-smile on her face.

Seeing that, Sirin instantly realized that all her little actions just now had been seen by the other girl.

Just imagining her own awkward behavior being completely exposed made Sirin's face turn red at a visible rate.

But even so, she still stubbornly replied, "I said I'm not going! W-Who wants to go to some boring place like that! I-I don't care about some dumb resort…"

Saying that, Sirin turned and walked back to her room.

Her voice faded as she left, until the door finally closed.
