Asher Land was baffled by her evasive answer, and the smile on her lips only added to his unease.
"Sophie Smith, are you okay?"
"I'm fine."
Sophie Smith thought for a moment and still felt that it wasn't suitable for them to stay together now.
"You should go. I'm really fine. I'll just stay here by myself for a while."
Her heart twisted painfully, but she couldn't show it, couldn't let Asher Land worry about her. She hesitated for a moment, but still leaned into him, reached out, and hugged him.
Asher Land was taken aback, not understanding the sudden gesture, but he quickly embraced her slender body in return.
"Asher Land, I love you."
She couldn't recall how long it had been since she'd said those words to him. Oh, it seemed like there was one night when he called her, repeatedly asking her to say it. She was too sleepy then and didn't comply, but now, she really wanted to say it to him several times over.
A few seconds later, she withdrew from his embrace.
