But then, Marco's tone suddenly shifted—his voice became icy cold, like a winter wind that chilled to the bone.
However, how could Katakuri even consider surrendering after reaching Beehive Island?
More importantly, he knew very well that if he gave in like this, that guy—Kronos—would surely find out. If that happened, his entire family would be in grave danger.
That was something he absolutely couldn't allow.
"Enough talk—this is pointless."
"I will not surrender. So don't bother."
Katakuri said coldly.
Marco couldn't understand why Katakuri was resisting to such a degree—it made no sense.
Still, if Katakuri was determined to fight to the death, then Marco would just have to risk everything to bring him down!
The reason Marco didn't want to kill Katakuri outright was because the man was, after all, the second-in-command of the Charlotte Family. Killing him would mean thoroughly offending the entire Charlotte Family—and possibly turning them into sworn enemies.
Right now, the Whitebeard Pirates were already in a precarious position. Surrounded by enemies on all sides, every faction was waiting for Whitebeard to fall in this war.
With Whitebeard's defeat, a massive territory would suddenly become up for grabs.
All along, from the shadows, countless forces had been eyeing the Whitebeard Pirates' domain like vultures.
Outwardly, things seemed calm—but in truth, the situation was critical. No one could say what would happen next.
That was why Marco didn't want to provoke yet another enemy for their crew. It was the last thing they needed.
