Shen Ruihan had planned to spend quality time today with Shen Xiaoting without any disturbances, but now it seemed impossible. These people would not leave anytime soon. They were like gum. Sticking to him in every possible way.
He was previously fine with them sticking to him, but now he was not. Especially today, why did they have to stick to him on this day?
Shen Ruihan sighed. He had no energy to deal with them. His energy was reserved for Shen Xiaoting.
"What do you guys want?"
"Of course we're here to give you a surprise." Old Man Wu said as he stroked his beard.
"Surprise? Where's the surprise?"
"We are the surprise. "
Shen Ruihan wished he could strangle the old man to death. His annoyed expression landed on Auntie Wang who was acting dead, and she shrank to the corner even more, trying to minimize her presence.
"Now.. now... dear nephew. Don't blame your auntie. She let it slip by mistake. Besides, weren't we all waiting for such a day? Now that it has come, of course we have to celebrate together." Fang Ming made a fake cough at the end of his speech.
"Also, you did not tell her not to tell us." Old Man Wu chimed in.
"How do you know that I did not tell her not to tell you?" Shen Ruihan raised his eyebrow.
"I just know." Old Man Wu replied with confidence.
Shen Ruihan wondered how the old man was still alive. His behavior should have gotten him killed a long time ago. One thing was for sure, he had to get rid of these people as soon as possible, or else he and his Shen Xiaoting would never know peace.
Shen Xiaoting, however, was lost at what was going on. What were they talking about? Who were these people? She looked at each and every one of them in confusion.
One young and pretty lady was dressed in a red knee-length ivory pleated dress with matched accessories and high-heeled shoes. The old man was wearing a black suit, his long hair neatly combed back and had his beard neatly trimmed, giving off an intimidating and noble aura. There was also another man, which she could not make out his age. He was tall and wore a dark blue tuxedo. He had a handsome face that might compete with that of Shen Ruihan. He was sitting on the sofa in a sophisticated manner.
As she darted her eyes, she saw another woman with a black dress, seemingly hiding in a corner. She looked like a middle-aged woman but was quite pretty. Judging by their interaction with Shen Ruihan, they seemed close. She thought maybe they were his family.
Her train of thoughts was interrupted by Shen Ruihan's voice.
"Why are you guys dressed like this?"
He knew very well that these people did not care about dressing themselves appropriately when at home. They usually put on whatever came to their sight first. Looking at them dressed neatly like this now, what was he supposed to think? It was as if they were going to attend the queen's gala. It was surprising!
"First impressions." Old Man Wu said without batting an eyelid.
Hearing his response, Shen Xiaoting suddenly felt that her dress was a little shabby. As she was quietly sulking, she heard him continue to say.
"We have to look good in front of your wife and score a few points." Then he winked. Shen Xiaoting was baffled.
The lady in red made her way to Shen Xiaoting, bent a little so she could face her. She flashed her beautiful smile.
"Xiao Xiao darling. Welcome to the family. We are all here for you. You can order us around however you want. Even Ruihan, you can make him your personal servant if you want."
Shen Xiaoting was speechless as she failed to say a single word. The only option she had was to look at Shen Ruihan.
Shen Ruihan felt her burning gaze and could not help chuckle internally.
The little bun was starting to depend on him.
"Let's sit down first."
Everyone listened to Shen Ruihan and took a seat. Even the lady that was hiding in the corner slowly made her way to sit down but sat further away from Shen Ruihan.
Shen Ruihan sat next to Shen Xiaoting and was holding her hand. This time, she did not seem to mind.
"Let me introduce you to our family."
He revealed his perfect white teeth as he smiled at Shen Xiaoting. Shen Xiaoting felt as if she was floating.
He introduced everyone, but there was still a person missing. Shen Ruihan said that the person was currently busy at the company and would introduce him to her later.
When it was time to eat, Shen Xiaoting did not know whether to laugh or cry. The more she thought about it, the more she was convinced that this family was abnormal.
