"Clare, can you tell me why I changed my clothes for a dress again? I'm not even a student here, even though it says otherwise on paper," I said, looking at myself in the mirror.
I don't know why, but I let them do it, but in the end, Clare, with Lene's support, persuaded me to wear a long, chic dress. It actually looked stunning on me, but it wasn't my style, and they even tied my hair back.
I looked like a socialite... a fox?
And it's all because of the tests she and Rae are competing in, but what I have to do with it is a mystery.
"Stop complaining, you look absolutely gorgeous in that dress," said Clare, who was also wearing a similar dress.
"Anyway, I won't be participating in the test, I'll just be observing from the sidelines," I said, since I genuinely didn't want to observe noble etiquette and other bullshit that didn't serve me.
"As you say... Okay, come on, let's go take the test already," Clare said and walked toward the ballroom.
I could only sigh and headed toward her.
As soon as we entered, my eyes immediately fell on the large hall, filled with elegantly dressed boys and girls.
Ignoring the stares, I walked to the corner of the room and sat down on a chair. My posture wasn't exactly "ladylike"... Because I caught the murderous gaze of the teacher, and several other teachers who would be serving as examiners.
What the hell is wrong with them? I simply turned the chair around and sat facing the back, placing my feet on either side of it. Maybe if I'd been wearing something short, I wouldn't have done it, but I was wearing a long dress that could stretch, albeit with difficulty.
Leaning on the chair, I kept catching the teachers' glances, but I simply ignored them and watched as the test began.
Well, I definitely couldn't do that...
And indeed, the way they carefully cut the food and put it in their mouths... It even gave me goosebumps.
But two people, let's not point fingers... ahem... Clare and Rae... ahem... kept looking at each other with lustful eyes.
Honestly, are you two rabbits in heat? With great difficulty, this hell ended, and I could finally take off this dress, which I did as soon as the test was over.
The next test was on magic, which I skipped, instead choosing to visit a certain stalker-san who was sitting in the bushes. "You know, for a 'demon lord,' you stalk quite a bit?" I said, standing behind Rae the Demon Lord, or whatever she calls herself.
Since our first conversation ten years ago, I hadn't seen her again, though I constantly felt her presence.
"Are you still playing the young lady's bodyguard?" Rae the Demon asked me—I'll probably call her that to avoid confusion.
"Young lady, she can protect herself now," I replied with a smirk.
It wasn't for nothing that I trained her for ten years. I also made sure she never skipped magic lessons, so she could become the best at everything.
"I know..." Rae said quietly.
"So, how does it feel to see yourself?" I asked, to which she simply snorted.
"It doesn't matter, when the time comes, I'll kill Clare myself," she said, her eyes as determined as before, but she wouldn't fool me!
I saw a hint of doubt cross her face, but it vanished almost immediately. Well, I think she's just jealous, looking at the couple in love. Although she's done this with Clare a million times before, in different lives.
"Yes, yes, as you say, miss, 'I'll kill my girlfriend because she doesn't love me.' I think that's actually a good title for a Japanese novel," I said, to which the Rae demon removed her hood and stared at me.
"I knew you weren't from this world... In any case, your arrival won't change the outcome..." she said.
"Yes, yes, whatever you say... Why did you put on fake horns? Is it to look like a demon?" I asked, to which Rae-demon blushed.
"Those aren't fake..." she couldn't finish as I rushed towards her and easily removed the fake horns.
"GIVE THEM AWAY!" she screamed, trying to take the horns from me.
She was shorter than me, so when I reached up, her hand couldn't reach her horns. And strangely, she didn't even use force, even though she said she was going to become, or already was, the real villain of this story.
"Are you sure you're a demon lord?" I asked, at which point she paused, and her eyes lit up.
Without thinking, she punched me in the chest, which I didn't expect, so I couldn't block it in time. The blow was so powerful that it sent me flying a hundred meters, and I cut down numerous trees along the way, but otherwise I was fine and unharmed, and didn't even feel any pain.
This is probably the first time something like this has happened to me, as usually the opponent is too weak compared to me, unable to even touch me. But Rae the Demon was quite strong, and she used a blow on me that could level an entire castle, and I don't even have a speck of dust on me.
And of course, when I returned, she was gone, along with her fake horns, and only crowds of students had gathered at the noise, and the only thing they saw was me, behind me a line of felled trees.
"Miss Miyabi? What happened?" the teacher asked me, staring at me.
I scratched my head, unsure what to say, and in the end...
"I tripped and fell badly..."
Of course, no one believed me in the end, but they didn't question me again; they simply turned a blind eye, just like they had to the makeshift path into the forest...
Well, actually, Clare knew exactly what had happened, judging by her gaze, but she tactfully remained silent.
After all the tests were completed, Clare, unsurprisingly, took first place, and Rae second, meaning Rae would have to grant her wish.
"Come to my room tonight," Clare said seductively, not embarrassed, and it was worth it, since our group of girls was here.
"..."-Me
"..."-Misha.
"..."-Pipi
"..."-Loretta
"Okay..." Rae replied, blushing.
Sigh...
Should I have even interfered with the narrative of this world?...
