Chapter 2 - Chapter 2 A Deal For a New Hell(1)

With the sudden, unexpected appearance of the Ashari, an alien race that appeared out of nowhere, the entire planet was a buzz with excitement and trepidation. Most of the human population felt excited to meet another race, hoping that they would help them as they so boldly claimed and if they desired to conquer them, they didn't care. Nothing could be worse than their current hell after all. The small percentage that felt trepidation were the rich who feared that their current status will be overruled by this new alien threat, but they soon realized that their fear was for naught.

The Ashari spoke with the leaders of the world through floating spherical orbs, and after a week of negotiations, a deal was struck. The Ashari promised to fix the planet for the humans and give them clean energy, in exchange, they wanted a constant supply of humans. This deal rattled the human leaders a bit, as even with the current state of the world, they couldn't just hand over large amounts of people to an alien race. That is, they couldn't hand over a large amount of people that anyone would miss.

"Today, you will enter a new world, a world full of dangers and fortune. Many of you might not survive, but you will die for the honour of the human race. You will sacrifice your pitiful lives for the good fortune of the human race." The warden shouted as the over a thousand prisoners gathered in the courtyard. Hundreds of guards, all dressed in black and carrying an assault rifle, stood to the side with an emotionless look on their face, but that wasn't the most spectacular sight in the courtyard, but the large, swirling mass of energy that seemed to stretch to the heavens. The mass of energy was purple in colour, and it was infact a portal.

The prisoners, both men and women, looked at the large portal with a fearful look on their faces, while others looked resigned to their fate.

'Why couldn't I just be dead?' Xavier thought as he looked at this spectacle and sighed

"You will proceed in groups of three into the portal you see before you. Be not afraid, the portal will not kill you, now proceed!!" The warden shouted and the guards pushed the first group of prisoners forward. They looked at the portal with a hesitant look in their eyes, but the guards pushed them forward roughly and they quickly entered, disappearing without a trace, with a sound similar to paper burning. Which didn't help to quell the prisoners fear.

The second group that stepped forward fought against the prison guards, pushing one to the ground and one of the prisoners tried to take his gun, but they were quickly shot dead in a hale of bullets. This almost started a riot in the courtyard, but it was quickly quelled as the guards pointed their guns at the prisoners. This continued for hours, until it was Xavier's group turn, and he proceeded into the portal with no fear. Resigning himself to death.

"Ugh, what the hell is that?" Xavier asked, as he covered his eyes. A bright light radiated from above, hurting his eyes as he wasn't used to this much light. He took in a deep breath, and instantly started coughing violently, almost falling to his knees. Once his eyes adjusted to the light, he looked up and his eyes widened at what he saw, or rather, what he didn't see. There were no clouds of ash in the sky, but fluffy white clouds and a giant ball of light floating beyond it.

'What the hell? Where...where the hell am I?' He wondered and moved his sight to the scenery around him which brought him even more surprise. He could cobblestone streets, clean and free from mountains of toxic black snow and ash, homeless people coughing violently on the verge of death and garbage. He could see a large stone wall that encased them and the beautiful stone buildings, the likes of which he has never seen before.

"Enough sight seeing, join the line you three." A man said and pushed the three of them to the open space where the rest of the prisoners were gathered, kneeling on the ground with their hands behind their heads, as they soon did as well. For the first time, Xavier noticed that they were surrounded by dozens of guards, making him realized that they crossed over first, and he didn't have to put much thought in the reason they did. To keep all of them in check.

'I wonder where we are? And what exactly are we doing here? The warden did say something about us sacrificing ourselves for the human race. I guess I'll find out once everyone arrives.' Xavier thought with a glint in his eyes, as he watched as more prisoners arrived.
