'I guess these things give us more than just the Stigma windows huh. But where have I heard the word acid before?' Xavier thought while looking at the tattoo on the back of his hand.
"Listen up everyone, that acid slime is one of the monsters that wonder this isle. Anyone who can kill them and claim their monster stones will receive a larger share of food." One of the guards said and at the prospect of food, the prisoners cheered. They haven't eaten in a few days, which was normal in the prison and indeed the outside world. Food was almost as scarce as water for lower ranked citizens, in other words, most of the population. Most of the prisoners rushed towards the slimes in a frenzy, but a few level headed ones like Xavier, stayed behind to watch. One man ran forward and kicked a slime, sending it flying away and crashing into a tree.
*Ahhhhhhhhhhhh*
The man screamed in pain and fell to the ground as he looked at the leg he used to kick the slime, which was covered in blue liquid. Everyone could hear an audible sizzling sound as the man's flesh was being dissolved by the blue liquid. His leg soon revealed the red flesh underneath, as blood started to be poured onto the ground. The other slimes, attracted by scream, rushed towards the man. The man tried to push them back with his hands, but they simply enveloped it and it started to melt as well. One of the slimes jumped onto the man's face, cutting off his screams as his face melted inside the slime. For the next fifteen minutes, everyone watched in complete horror as the man's face was melted and the slimes continued to 'eat' his corpse.
"What are you waiting for? Go kill that thing." A guard said, pushing one of the prisoners forward
"Are you insane, didn't you just see what just happened to Melvin?!" A woman screamed, but the guard pointed his gun at her.
"Either you go, or we shoot." The guard said and everyone looked at them with rage and despair.
'Fuck.' Xavier thought as he realized that the guards didn't care whether they lived or died, as they could always bring more prisoners. Gensin Capital Prison alone had over three hundred thousand prisoners, much less all the other prisons around the world. To the guards, their lives are expendable. Xavier decisively walked forward, under the stunned gazes of everyone, and around the corpse of the prisoner who just died, Melvin. He made his way towards where Melvin kicked the other slime, and observed the slime. The blue liquid was splattered all over the area, melting through trees and grass.
'I wonder why it didn't melt the grass when it was sliding over it.' Xavier thought, remembering how the grass didn't melt when they slid over it, but now wasn't the time for that. He observed the area, and noticed a small, green marble sized gem on the ground.
"What are you doing over there?" A guard asked, pointing his weapon at Xavier and he quickly raised his hands in the air.
"I found something." He said, showing them the small green marble in his hand.
"The monster stone, good, hand it over." The guard said menacingly and Xavier obliged, walking over to the guards while throwing a side long look at the other slimes, who were still busy eating the corpse. He handed the stone over to the guard and he quickly pocketed it with a nod of his head.
"Only three left." He said, looking at Xavier and Xavier's eyelid twitched at the bastard's shamelessness, but he was the one with the gun, and he would rather not be riddled with bullets. Xavier mulled his mind over what he could do, and he quickly realized that as long as the acid didn't touch him, he should be fine. He looked around for a moment, and started gathering a small pile of stones under everyone's curious gaze.
'You guys can help too you know.' He thought, but dared not say it out loud. With his weapons gathered, Xavier took up a stone and threw it at a slime, and it hit it, causing the blue liquid to splash everywhere. Realizing it was under attack, it quickly identified the source and moved towards Xavier, making everyone back away. The slime wasn't very fast, only as fast as baby creeping, and Xavier quickly pelted it with stones until it stopped moving. He took up the marble sized stone which was only a few meters away, and threw it at the guard, who caught it, before looking at him and then at the monster stone before pocketing it. Xavier did this two more times, until all the slimes were dead, and the monster stones were in the guards pockets.
"Now that wasn't so hard was it." The guard said and Xavier threw him a murderous glare before turning away.
