Marlene came to a sudden realization and nodded quickly.
"I'm so sorry, Darcy! I misunderstood your intentions against Mr. Yancey," Marlene apologized.
Darcy noticed that Marlene was an extremely naive and gullible girl.
But then, Darcy realized if it weren't because of how unwary Marlene was, Darcy would not have manipulated her that easily.
"It's not your fault, Marlene. I didn't express myself clearly. I'm sorry."
No matter how many ulterior motives she had harbored in her mind, Darcy looked as harmless as a pure white swan. She said gently, "Forgive me for not being good with words."
"Darcy, y-you d -don't have to apologize!" Marlene quickly waved her hands and continued, "It's just me being silly and not understanding what you said. It's not your fault."
