When Ariel had first been rushed to the hospital with the medical staff not knowing what it was that was causing her to not be able to breathe on her own. Tristan had been worried. But then the doctors had run their tests and they had determined that she had been poisoned with Curare. And Tristan had felt hopeful when they had outlined a treatment plan.
After they had done all that they could for her and had moved her to her room. Finally allowing Tristan to see her he had felt hopeful. Then, when Ariel had woken up a few hours later. Bringing Tristan out of his own mini nap as she had started to move around, that hope had felt as though it had bloomed fully. With Tristan finally feeling as though he could breathe.
The sight of his wife's lovely green eyes fixed on him had been such a relief that Tristan had wanted to drop to his knees and weep. But the relief had been short lived. Just one brief touch and Tristan had known that something was wrong.
