It was uncomfortably hot. That was what woke Ariel up. The discomfort was so great that it wrenched her from the clutches of sleep and tossed her right into wakefulness. Blinking at the ceiling, Ariel became aware of a second source of discomfort. This one was sound. Beep, beep, beep, beep, beep. Was that an alarm? She knew her own alarm and Tristan's. Whose was that?
Had her husband changed his wake-up tune to something so annoying?
'Tristan shut that off I'm trying to sleep,' Ariel tried to say. And that was what alerted her to her third source of discomfort. In all honesty, it should have been the first thing to register for her. There was something in her mouth and whatever it was, was going down her throat. It did not belong there.
She had to get it out! Ariel tried to move her hand to do just that but there was a weight pinning her down. And despite the fact that she could tell that it was light, she was actually struggling to shake it off. Why was she so weak?
