Ariel had ruined the previous date within seconds of it beginning.
She had to find a way to fix things up. Tristan did not hold it against her. He had been a true gentleman about it. But Ariel still felt awful that she had chickened out over some silly thoughts. The date ending in some awesome karaoke singing only slightly made up for it.
So Ariel was determined to make sure that the current date was a good one.
"Ariel, you do know that you do not have to prove anything to me, We have absolutely no reason to go kayaking. We can choose to do something different. It does not even have to include physical activity. How about we just find a wall to stare at and watch the paint dry?" The fact that Tristan did not sound patronizing.
That it actually seemed that he really did not want her to go through with kayaking, simply because she had a point to prove, made Ariel even more determined to prove her point. Sure she had been too uneasy to finish off the hot air balloon date.
