Chapter 24 - Chapter 24: Bento

Ivy lowered her head, and a wave of complex emotions flooded her heart: regret, panic, guilt, and reluctance. The faint smell of peppermint flooded her senses, yet her taut heart didn't find peace.

Scarlett... would be a good choice for Silas.

Unlike her, who was a jinx... Scarlett, a cheerful young lady, was raised in a warm family. Perfect for Silas.

And yet Ivy didn't dare to push Scarlett toward Silas. No... she would stay away from personal matters.

In this life, she was there to atone for her sins, not to force anyone. Let nature take its course.

Silas said he didn't love her anymore, so she would not force her feelings on him.

Ivy wasn't planning on playing the sick game of pushing another woman to Silas while harboring thoughts about him.

Even she knew... she loved too much to take that hypocritical step. She can stay away from Silas, but she can't bear to see him together with someone else.

"Why are you standing here?" Silas's stunned voice broke Ivy's train of thought, and she stared at him with a dazed expression.

"Huh? Nothing... I... I just felt dizzy, so I took the support of the wall." Ivy calmly said, her tone was so even that it was difficult to deduce the pain in her heart.

"Oh." Silas didn't dwell on the topic, knowing Ivy wasn't going to tell him the truth anyway, and straightaway asked,

"Why did you knock me out? I heard the Ravencroft family say you did it just so Isla can sleep with me? Is that true?"

A misunderstanding. Silas hoped it was all a misunderstanding. The change in Ivy's temperament ignited hope in him.

As for trusting the Ravencroft family? Though he was repeatedly betrayed by Ivy, he was ready to hear her explanation, if she had one, and trust her.

Ivy stared at Silas for a long while before swallowing the lump in her throat,

"You are indeed smart."

It was an indirect confirmation.

Ivy didn't want to lie, and hence she used such a roundabout way.

The hope in Silas's eyes died down slowly, replaced by sorrow and disappointment.

Ivy, unable to bear the sight, looked away.

Silas pursed his lips, unwilling to give up continued to ask,

"Then what about others? Why did you knock them out? And why did you ask my parents to sleep during this rain?"

Ivy softly chuckled,

"Returning the favor."

It was again a half-truth and half-lie.

Silas's heart sank further. It wasn't because he believed the Ravencrofts were telling the truth. But it was purely because he saw through the inconsistencies in Ivy's words, and yet she refused to tell the truth.

'Even after all this... she doesn't trust me enough and is still taking the side of the Ravencroft family. Maybe it wasn't her plan, but knowing the Ravencroft family's claim, she decided to defend them... oh, Ivy... why are you so silly!'

Fatigue took over him, and Silas decided to rest. Ivy stared at his retreating figure, and suddenly her eyes fell on the bento boxes on the ground.

"Huh? Why is there a bento box lying here?" Ivy asked, confused.

"What bento? Are you trying to trick me again?" Silas asked, sadness in his eyes.

"This one!" Ivy said, holding up the packaged meal and waving it at him.

Silas: <("0 ")>

"What the... where did that come from?" Silas stared at it in shock. Ivy's eyes widened.

[A bento box detected. Would you like to store it in the Temporal Storage Space?]

[Would you like to multiply it 25 times? The cost is 1kb.]

Eh? What was going on?

Ivy quickly remembered the condition stated by the temporal storage space. As long as she stores something using her superpower, she can multiply it.

So her superpower... did she awaken a different superpower this time?

No! The most important question was... what kind of strange superpower was this?

She can see bento boxes lying on the ground, and as long as she picks them up... they materialize?

Logically speaking, with the help of Quantum Displacement theory... the existence of such a superpower was possible, but... such a bizarre superpower was unheard of!

"Can… I buy it from you?" Silas asked, bringing Ivy back to the earth.

"Of course. But I won't give it to you for free." Ivy smiled like a fox.

However, in her heart, Ivy was panicking.

'What is happening? Why can't I control my body?'
