Chapter 23 - Chapter 23: Freya's Call

Magnus and Seraphina were furious and lifted their finger in anger. However, Silas threw an indifferent glance in their direction,

"As I said before. I don't love Ivy anymore. I won't hesitate to beat you all up."

His cold words drove daggers into the Ravencroft family member's heart. After all, Silas had indeed slapped Isla. It was enough to prove how serious he was.

Without hesitation, they helped Isla and turned to leave. Isla paused and stared at Silas viciously,

"Men who lift their hand on women are not men! You should be ashamed of slapping a woman!"

"I don't slap a woman. I consider you an animal." Silas suavely replied.

Isla: "..." Damn you!

Magnus and Serphina, having been insulted enough, dragged Isla away. Not once did they think about Ivy.

Silas waited till they left the floor, and immediately scooped Ivy from the ground. He was dying to pick her up from the ground. However, the annoying Ravencroft family wasn't leaving at all.

Ivy's cold body filled Silas with guilt. Even though he was disappointed that this time, too, Ivy had betrayed him, he still couldn't bear to see her suffer.

'You are indeed a dog, Silas... even after so much... you can't bear to leave her...' He thought.

Ivy's heart was filled with satisfaction. In this entire world, if she hated anyone after Talon base and Patrick, then it was Isla.

In her previous life, Isla used Ivy to lay traps for Silas, and in the end, even forced Silas to marry her.

She went as far as getting caught in bed with Silas. Ivy was the one who had tricked Silas into bed. And though Ivy didn't know about Isla's plan all along, she felt guilty when she saw the light fading in Silas's eyes.

Silas died protecting her; if he hadn't... he might have to marry Isla.

Hence, when Silas slapped Isla, Ivy was filled with satisfaction.

Unaware of the thoughts going through Ivy's head, Silas placed her on the bed and covered her with a blanket.

He got out of the room and checked his phone. Seeing two missed calls from his parents, he called them.

A stern, feminine voice sounded,

"Are you with Ivy?"

Silas fell silent for two seconds before asking,

"Why did you call? Just to ask this?"

His parents, as well as his family, didn't like Ivy at all due to her past actions. And advised him to stay away from her.

His mother, Freya, snorted.

"No. Anyway, thank her for the advice."

"What advice?" Silas asked in confusion.

Freya frowned; her voice, which sounded melodic and pleasant to hear, rang in his ears,

"Ask her. I won't tell."

With that, she hung up. Silas stared at his phone in confusion.

Just then, Herny, Amelia, Chloe, Jack, Scarlett, Arial, and Aiden walked out of the guest room.

"Ah... Captain, you are awake? Why did you knock us out?" Henry asked. He was the type of person who couldn't stomach his curiosity.

Sila's brows furrowed, before he shook his head,

"I didn't...."

Midway through his sentence, Silas paused and remembered his parents' statement.

Ivy had asked them to sleep throughout the Power Rain. Maybe she had knocked his teammates, too.

So... did he misunderstand her?

If she had only knocked out his teammates and him, he still might have thought that Ivy was trying to frame him; however, now... things seem different.

'I should ask Ivy once she wakes up.' He thought.

Henry, ever the clueless guy, asked in confusion,

"You didn't? Then who did?"

Silas cleared his throat and calmly stated,

"It was me."

"But you said..." Henry began, but he was interrupted midway when Silas firmly insisted,

"It was me."

Henry: "..." No, something is amiss.

"You all may leave." Silas calmly said, and the other team members exchanged a glance before turning to leave.

Only Scarlett stayed behind. She stared at Silas. Her hazel eyes shone brilliantly under the bright lights of the room. While her red hair was let loose, making her look a bit fiery and mischievous.

"Silas~ I missed you so much!" She pouted and leaned toward Silas, "Why did you put me in the separate team?"

Silas cast a helpless glance in Scarlett's direction before shaking his head,

"Scarlett, you have already grown up. Stop acting like a spoiled child."

"I am not acting spoiled, Silas... you know that I am acting like this because I like you!" Scarlett bit her lips as she batted her eyes.

Ivy, who was hidden behind the wall of Silas's room, stiffened, color drained from her face.

Scarlett's voice from the previous life echoed in her mind,

"Ivy, if Silas had ended up with me, at least he would have been alive!"
