"What the hell happened?"
On the balcony of the rented apartment, watching the retreating mercenaries, Roberta asked.
She had heard gunfire at the start. Although it was intense, it quickly weakened. Then she saw a large number of mercenaries fleeing like madmen.
This was a very rare situation. She felt that although those mercenaries couldn't be called elites, they were still fairly well-trained. So how did they collapse all of a sudden?
"Was it the people from the Moscow Hotel who did it? I remember they were all former SL veterans," Roberta asked again.
"Probably not." Aiden shook his head and pointed at a mercenary who was crawling and rolling on the ground, saying, "If it were just an ordinary firefight, he wouldn't be scared like this."
"Then what should we do now?" Roberta continued to ask.
"Grab someone and ask." Aiden said, then lifted his gun and turned to leave the room.
EO's mercenaries were all fleeing for their lives, no one noticed Aiden. So he boldly stopped a mercenary and dragged him into the rented apartment.
"Answer whatever I ask. I don't want to hear any nonsense." Aiden pulled out his pistol and pointed it at the mercenary's head, saying.
The mercenary's already pale face turned even paler, and he quickly nodded.
"Who are you people, and what are you here for?" Aiden asked.
"We're mercenaries affiliated with EO. We came to Roanapur for revenge. Our target is the Black Lagoon Company."
"Very good." Aiden nodded and continued asking, "What did you encounter? Why did you collapse so quickly?"
"Monsters, we ran into monsters," the mercenary shouted when he heard this.
"What kind of monsters?" Aiden's expression darkened, and he asked.
"They have sharp claws, long tongues, and run faster than cheetahs. They're demons from hell." The mercenary was somewhat incoherent.
"Alright, very useful information. You can continue running for your life now." Aiden let go of him.
The mercenary quickly got up and ran outside. But just as he walked out the door, Aiden shot him.
"Sorry, the Black Lagoon Company is my friend." He said to a stunned Garcia.
Garcia didn't say anything about Aiden's actions. Silence was the best response.
In these past days, he had thought through a lot. The world he was in now was one where the strong preyed on the weak. If you had no strength, you were just a piece of meat on someone else's chopping board. They could eat you however they wanted.
If you didn't want to be someone's food, the only way was to become stronger yourself.
Glancing at Garcia, whose eyes gradually became more determined, Aiden put away his pistol and said to Roberta and Garcia, "Let's go find Revy and the others. Hopefully they haven't run into trouble."
Saying that, he didn't care about their opinions, lifted his gun, and got in the car.
Garcia looked at Roberta and saw her dazed for just a moment.
"Let's go. Follow Aiden," Garcia said.
Roberta nodded, grabbed her gun, and also got in the car.
Since it wasn't far from the Black Lagoon Company, they arrived within a few minutes. Aiden got out of the car and knocked on the Black Lagoon Company's door.
The Black Lagoon Company had long been prepared. Hearing the knock, they opened it immediately.
"Aiden, you came at just the right time."
The one who opened the door was Rock. He was fully geared up too, an AK-74 hanging from his neck, wearing a thick bulletproof vest, and said.
"Are they ready?" With Dutch here, Aiden could skip many words and asked directly.
"Of course." The one answering him was Dutch. He was dressed in full American-style gear, standing side by side with Revy.
"Then let's go to the Moscow Hotel. Balalaika is definitely waiting for us."
After speaking, the members of the Black Lagoon Company left the office, but Revy didn't get in her own car, instead, she got into Aiden's.
"What are you doing?" Garcia asked.
"Protecting Aiden," Revy said forcefully, pulling the bolt on her assault rifle with a harsh click.
"No need." Roberta replied. She was fully armed and looked like a super-soldier from the apocalypse, her entire body loaded with guns and ammunition.
"That's not your concern." Roberta continued.
These past two days, she had noticed Garcia's focus and reliance on Aiden. So, unconsciously, she had also added Aiden to her list of people to protect.
"Hmph." Hearing the maid's words, Revy snorted coldly.
The outer district wasn't far from the inner district, only a few kilometers. Driving fast, it would take around ten minutes.
But it took Aiden and the others more than half an hour to reach the inner district.
Not only did fleeing mercenaries block their way, but they were also attacked by those B.O.W.s.
It was the first time Revy and Roberta had seen these bio-organic weapons. They silently closed their mouths. Although they weren't mentally broken like those mercenaries, they were still a bit shocked.
"These are the monsters you said were made with a virus?" Revy asked. She shot down a Licker that pounced at them, using up two entire magazines.
Even though Aiden had told her that these biological weapons' weakness was their head, habit made Revy aim at their bodies instead.
"These guys are just the lowest-level B.O.W.s." Aiden stepped on the gas pedal and said.
"What about higher-level ones?" Roberta asked in a deep voice.
"I can't describe them, but one thing is certain, ordinary firearms don't work on them."
"Is that so?" Roberta clearly didn't believe him. She glanced at her own equipment, especially the portable grenade launcher Aiden insisted she bring.
"No matter what kind of monster, I can deal with it," she said.
"Of course, you definitely can." Aiden trusted Roberta.
Just as he'd said before, Roberta could be considered the strongest woman in the entire Black Lagoon series.
From Aiden's understanding, with her ability to bite through a dogleg knife with her teeth, even if she were to win in hand-to-hand combat against a Tyrant, no, a Nemesis, he wouldn't be surprised.
After all, in Aiden's opinion, Roberta was definitely more worth studying than a Tyrant.

Finally breaking through the siege of several Lickers, at 8 PM, Aiden and the others finally entered the inner district.
By now, the inner district had also become a target of the Lickers' attacks. A large number of them had broken through the Moscow Hotel's defenses and were constantly hunting prey.
Getting out of the car, Aiden's group advanced toward the headquarters of the Moscow Hotel.
And as the main and supporting characters of this series, they performed much stronger than ordinary people. The Lickers that attacked them were either killed or repelled.
A few minutes later, they entered the building and climbed the stairs all the way up, heading to Balalaika's usual office.
Balalaika and the others were still in the office. With their superior firepower and combat will, they had repelled wave after wave of Licker attacks.
While they were catching their breath, the door was kicked open by Aiden and the others.
"Balalaika, are you guys okay?" Aiden shouted loudly as he rushed in.
"We're alright." Balalaika fired a few more shots at a Licker on the ground and then replied.
"You didn't tell me last time that these monsters were this troublesome."
"Duh. Would you have believed me if I did?" Aiden retorted.
Balalaika paused and nodded, "You're right. I definitely wouldn't have believed it. After all, no one could've guessed how strong the monsters you mentioned really were."
As they talked, they didn't stop shooting. Soon, they had wiped out all the Lickers that had rushed in.
Aiden changed his rifle's magazine and walked toward Balalaika. But after taking just a few steps, he stopped, and to everyone's surprise, slowly raised both hands and shouted,
"Hey, brother, don't do this. Let's talk it out."
Seeing his sudden move, everyone in the room was confused.
Behind him, Revy shouted, confused, "No way, Aiden, what are you doing?"
Farther away, Roberta frowned and looked at him with the same confusion. But soon, she sensed something strange, narrowed her eyes, and shifted her gaze to Aiden's side.
"Roberta, what do you see?" Garcia noticed his maid's expression and actions and asked.
But before Roberta could answer, Aiden spoke to himself on the spot, "I remember Vector is already dead. Are you the new scout of the Wolf Team?"
