"Temmy still hasn't gotten anything out of that Greta woman," Ruka muttered, his eyes scanning the path ahead. "She's playing the long game."
Lucifer's phone buzzed in his hand.
He glanced down—a message from Dera.
A nest appeared in the east wing. Might get messy. Want you to clear it out.
Lucifer didn't even blink. He just sent the info straight to Zane.
"She's not worth the effort," he said coolly, slipping the phone back into his pocket. "She can rot with her secrets. I've got better things to do."
Ruka frowned but said nothing. He knew there were some things Lucifer had buried too deep—even for him.
They walked a little more… and then the world changed.
The street was dead silent, soaked in moonlight, wind brushing gently against the trees. A moment ago, the campus paths were lively with chatter and movement. Now? Nothing.
Lucifer and Ruka stopped walking. No footsteps. No voices. Not even the sound of night insects.
