"Continue!" Samui shouted, her hand still moving.
Sixty-four Kumogakure shinobi, already prepared, moved like arrows, taking positions. They formed seals, the ground rumbled, and rock pillars rose, encasing the valley.
With thunderous booms and flashing lightning, this combined with the initial binding, created an even larger sixty-four-pillar binding technique.
The vast valley was instantly engulfed in lightning, obscuring even Matatabi's form. Only Matatabi's ferocious roars pierced the blinding light, proving the beast was still within.
"Good!" Dodai said, relieved.
This barrier had never been used in combat before.
Previously, the Third Raikage had personally confronted rampaging tailed beasts, even cleaving off a horn from Gyūki. This cumbersome barrier had seemed impractical.
But its success was gratifying, even as their chakra rapidly depleted.
"Quickly subdue it! We can only maintain this formation for ten minutes," Dodai shouted urgently at Samui.
"Sensei Dodai, understood," Samui nodded firmly, determined to play the role of hero to protect Karui and the others.
Taking a deep breath, a resolute glint in her eyes, she formed seals.
"Attack! Suppress the tailed beast!"
Her sharp command was met with a sudden shift in everyone's expressions, including Dodai's.
"Kinkaku, Ginkaku, what are you doing?!"
"Samui, watch your back!"
Dodai roared, his warning sending a jolt through Samui.
She glanced behind to see a chakra-infused blade flashing towards her, rapidly enlarging in her vision.
"Our great hero is about to die," Kinkaku laughed cruelly.
They had manipulated Matatabi's seal to weaken it, luring Kumogakure's elite shinobi into using this complex formation. While they were distracted and unable to fight back, they would strike.
Their goal was halfway achieved.
Eliminating the remaining elders and sealing the Two-Tails with Black Lightning would leave them in control of Kumogakure when the Fourth Raikage returned.
"Black Lightning: Black Lightning Spear!"

Black lightning descended from the sky, blindingly bright, striking towards Kinkaku with terrifying speed. The attack was completely unexpected. In their plan, the Black Lightning was supposed to be theirs.
Even if someone could use it, it would be Mokkaku, who had developed the Lightning Seal. This situation defied their expectations.
Before they could react to the sudden attack, they were faced with the black lightning. They couldn't retreat.

"Darui, you… how can you use Black Lightning? You shouldn't even be eligible for the trial," Samui said, her voice tight.
While Darui possessing Black Lightning would be an honor for any Kumogakure shinobi, his refugee status disqualified him from the Black Lightning Inheritance Hall. Darui's possessing Black Lightning violated Kumogakure's laws, punishable by death. This was not something Samui wanted to see.
Before Darui could speak, an elderly figure descended from the sky, his panicked expression sending a jolt of tension through everyone.
