Chapter 111 - Chapter 111: Street Cleaners

[Time: 09:15 PM][Location: Naruhata District – Warehouse Zone]

The rain slicked the neon-lit streets of Naruhata. It was a grittier part of the city, where the buildings were older and the shadows were deeper.

Reiji crouched on the edge of a rooftop, the rain steaming off his suit.

Next to him, Mirko was practically vibrating with energy. She wasn't crouching; she was bouncing on her toes, her large ears swiveling like radar dishes.

"Hear that?" Mirko whispered.

Reiji focused. He didn't have her super-hearing, but he had the System.

[Map Scan: Active.][Hostiles Detected: 25.][Threat Level: Low to Moderate.]

"Twenty-five heartbeats inside," Reiji confirmed. "They're moving heavy crates. Metal on metal."

"Drugs or guns," Mirko guessed, licking her lips. "Either way, it's illegal. You ready for your first lesson in 'Street Cleaning'?"

"Kick down the door and ask questions later?"

"Exactly! But mostly the kicking part!"

BOOM!

Mirko didn't wait. She launched herself off the roof, shattering the concrete edge. She plummeted four stories down and crashed directly through the skylight of the warehouse below.

Reiji sighed. "She really hates stealth."

[Skill: Teleport.]

Reiji vanished in a swirl of fire.

[Inside the Warehouse]

"WHO THE HELL—?!"

A thug in a cheap black suit screamed as glass rained down on him. Before he could raise his machine gun, a white blur slammed into his chest.

CRACK.

Mirko stood on top of the unconscious thug, dusting off her hands.

"Evening, boys!" she shouted, her voice echoing through the massive space. "The Hero Public Safety Commission sent me to check your permits! Oh wait, I didn't ask!"

The warehouse was filled with men in suits. But unlike common thugs, they were organized. They wore matching red masks—plague doctor style.

'Shie Hassaikai?' Reiji thought, reappearing in the shadows of a stack of shipping containers. 'No, these masks are slightly different. Remnants? Or a splinter group?'

"It's the Rabbit Hero!" one of the Yakuza shouted. "Open fire!"

RAT-TAT-TAT-TAT!

Bullets shredded the air.

Mirko laughed, hopping between the bullets with impossible agility. She used the crates as springboards, ricocheting around the room.

"Luna Fall!"

She dropped her heel onto a gunman's head, driving him into the concrete.

Reiji watched for a second, analyzing the battlefield.

'Mirko is drawing all the aggro. That leaves the flanks open.'

He spotted a group of five thugs trying to flank Mirko with quirk-enhanced weapons—glowing blades and heavy gauntlets.

"Not on my watch," Reiji muttered.

He stepped out of the shadows.

[Mortal Kombat Style: NOOB SAIBOT.]

"Shadow Tackle."

A clone made of pure darkness shot out from Reiji's chest. It slid across the floor, grabbed the lead thug's legs, and slammed him face-first into the ground.

THUD.

The other four turned, startled.

"A shadow?!"

Reiji didn't give them time to process. He teleported behind the second thug.

[Skill: Leg Sweeper.]

Reiji dropped low, spinning on his heel. His leg, reinforced with 10% One For All (mimicked stats), swept the thug's legs out from under him. As the man fell, Reiji followed up with a brutal uppercut.

POW.

Two down.

"Die!" A thug with a mutation quirk—his arms turned into stone pillars—swung at Reiji.

Reiji didn't block. He remembered Mirko's words from the gym. 'Endeavor relies on fire. I rely on survival.'

Reiji ducked under the stone fist, moving inside the thug's guard.

[Skill: Scorpion's Sting (Knee Strike).]

He drove his knee into the thug's gut, winding him instantly. Then, he grabbed the thug's stone arm and used it as a shield to block a gunshot from the fourth enemy.

PING.

"Thanks for the shield," Reiji whispered.

He kicked the stone thug away and threw a Kunai.

"Get over here!"

The rope dart pierced the shoulder of the gunman. Reiji yanked him close, meeting him with a clothesline that knocked him cold.

The fifth thug dropped his weapon and ran.

"Coward," Reiji scoffed.

Suddenly, a white blur flew past him.

WHAM!

Mirko landed on the fleeing thug's back, pinning him to the floor.

"Nice sweep, kid!" Mirko yelled, giving Reiji a thumbs up while casually restraining the struggling Yakuza. "Your form is getting better. Less flashy magic, more blunt force trauma. I like it!"

The warehouse was silent. Twenty-five men lay groaning on the floor in less than three minutes.

Reiji walked over to a crate that had been broken open during the fight.

He looked inside.

It wasn't drugs. It wasn't guns.

It was... vials. Hundreds of small glass vials filled with a glowing red liquid.

Reiji picked one up, his eyes narrowing.

[Item Scan: "Trigger" Variant.][Description: An unstable quirk-enhancing drug. Origin: Illegal Labs.]

"Trigger?" Reiji muttered. "I thought the factories were shut down."

Mirko walked over, frowning. She snatched the vial from his hand and sniffed it (without opening it).

"This isn't normal Trigger," she said, her ears flattening against her head. "It smells... chemical. Artificial."

She looked at the unconscious men in the red masks.

"These guys aren't just street punks. Someone is supplying them. Someone with a lab."

Reiji looked at the red mask of the man under Mirko's boot.

'A lab... Dr. Garaki? Or maybe... Overhaul is making his move early?'

The timeline was shifting. The chaos in society was accelerating the villains' plans.

"We need to interrogate one of them," Reiji said, his voice cold. "I have... methods."

Mirko grinned, cracking her knuckles again.

"Good. You play Bad Cop. I'll play 'Badder Cop'."

End of Chapter 111.
