"Dear, where are you heading to so early in the morning?" Mr Fraser asked as he walked towards his wife who was already outside the house.
Mrs Fraser stopped and turned to look at her husband.
"I'm going in search of my daughter. " She said fiercely and walked away without waiting for her husband.
Mr Fraser had a grim look on his face.
He knew she won't find their daughter alive again.
He went back inside to go freshen up for the day.
In the cold river,
Evelyn who had managed to sleep with the little air she could use it to breath slowly opened her eyes as she felt herself floating.
She quickly dived to upper surface of the water.
Once she was able to swim forward, she quickly held the edge of the river before gasping hard. Her wet hair covered her face sticking to it.
She stared at the bright sky as she slowly came out of the river. The moment she stepped out of the water, she felt strangely weird.
Why was she suddenly feeling weird as though she didn't want to leave the river? What was so special of the river that she didn't want to leave?
It was as if something was drawing her back. But she chose to ignore it and turned away from the strange river calling her back.
She was weak, cold and hungry. She began to walk weakly and sluggishly back to the market.
After walking some miles, she suddenly sighted her mother from afar asking people questions.
Meanwhile,
Mrs Fraser was in deep tears as she ask people about her daughter's whereabouts.
"We don't know. "
"Why don't you report to the king ?"
Some suggested while some became more fearful as the thought of another human been consumed by this deadly monsters is gone.
While Mrs Fraser was crying silently and painfully, not caring about the way she was dressed fell to the ground painfully as heavy tears rolled down her cheeks.
Evelyn watched the scene from afar and for some reason, she felt broken and as though a force pushed her, she ran as fast as her legs could carry and rushed to her mother surprising the people in the market.
"Mother!!" She rushed to her mother not caring about her own condition.
Mrs Fraser who was crying weakly looked at her daughter in a daze for a moment before she pulled Evelyn into her deep embrace.
"My sweetheart, my happiness, please don't scare me that way again. Don't you know I almost died. " Her mother said tearfully.
Evelyn nodded her head as she too kept crying. Seeing her mother in that state gave her the kind of goosebumps she never expected to feel.
With that, the mother and daughter remained like that for a while before pulling away.
The people who had gathered to watch were all in awe at the miracle of a human girl saved from the hands of night monsters. How did it happen? Or could have saved her? They all thought.
Mrs Fraser and Evelyn stood up and turned to look at the people.
Evelyn could understand the the look in their eyes. It was as though they wanted to know who or how exactly she was saved.
Without saying a word, she turned to her mother and said,
"Lets go mama". She said weakly. With that, the mother daughter duo left the market.
In the Frasers apartment ,
Mr Fraser and Lila were stunned to see Evelyn.
But Lila's stunned expression suddenly turned ugly at the sight of her sister been alive.
"How is she alive?" She thought coldly.
Mr Fraser stood up and rushed to hug his daughter. He thought he had lost her forever.
"My child,I'm sorry for not protecting you enough. " He said pulling away from the hug.
"No dad, don't blame your self for not protecting me enough. It was all my fault I almost got killed by a blood sucker. But I promise it won't happen again. " She said with a soft smile.
Mr Fraser just nodded.
"Mum, dad, let her go freshen up, she stinks. " Lila said calmly as she too hugged Evelyn.
Evelyn chuckled loudly at her sister's comment.
I miss you too Lila. She said and Lila just pulled away from her embrace.
"Get cleaned up and come tell us how you got saved. Or who was the mysterious person that saved you. " Lila said and Evelyn was stunned for a moment but quickly shook her head to avoid any thoughts and went to their room to clean up.
Once Evelyn was given, Mrs Fraser also went to her room to freshen up.
The moment they were gone,
Lila had a deep frown on her face. "Who could have saved Evelyn from the vampires?" She mused coldly. "It can't be a human right, only a mysterious being could save her and who could that be? " She sigh deeply before going to prepare the dinning room for breakfast.
Some minutes passed by,
The family of four could be seen seated in the dining having their breakfast. Whole they were eating.
They heard a knock on the door.
They paused their eating and turned to look at each other.
"Are you expecting anyone? " Mrs Fraser asked her husband.
"No, how about you girls?" Mr Fraser asked.
No. They both answered.
Let me go and see who is at the door. Mr Fraser stood up and went to open the door only to be shocked by who he saw I front of him.
He froze in disbelief.
The cold blooded vampire king visited the Frasers apartment. Did words spread about his missing daughter to the King's ear? Could that be the reason why the king was here.
"Dear, who is at the door? Mrs Fraser asked, standing up as she walked towards the door only to freeze on the spot as though she had seen a ghost.
"What was the king of valtenia kingdom doing here in broad daylight?" She thought as she tried to calm her heart beat.
There was suddenly thick silence between the three of them that a pin drop could be heard. The tension was killing.
"What was the king looking for and why is he here?"
