"Damn, those people are cruel. Poor Hannah, all caught up in this mess between families. " Charles said amidst just anger.
"I don't know why, but I feel scared and worried that once Hannah knows the truth, she will be more than heart broken. First, her alleged biological parents sold her off to a couple who was later killed and was brought up by her aunt who ended up selling her for money. This is so cruel". Carie said worriedly and Logan spared her a quick glance.
"How do you know that Hannah was sold to me?"
"It's very obvious even if grandfather wanted to get you married to a simple woman with no complicated background but you ended with not just a simple naive woman, but one whose existence might cause chaos in the political system. Carie said calmly.
"But..."
"No wait let me finish. Imagine now the government should find out his own daughter is a step sister to his political rival. What do you think will happen? Hannah's life will be in danger. A grave danger. That is why even if you pretend to us that you don't love her at least protect her from those mad women who are after her. Now that you have exposed scarlet, she won't rest until she seeks her revenge on what you did to her today." She cut him off.
"I won't even be surprised if Scarlett pretends to change and then befriend Hannah. She might lure her into the enemy's den and if she is in the enemy den, how will you save her?" Carie continued as she stared back at him.
Logan had a deep frown on his face and didn't say anything.
"Charles, inform Chen to find out what Gregor is up to. He has been too quiet for a while now. Something seems strange. " Logan said and Charles said okay and got down from the car to make the call.
Back in the hospital,
Mrs Emerson and Mr Emerson went into the ICU to check check up on Hannah.
"Such a young girl. Why would her memory be tampered and why?" Mrs Emerson whispered softly sitting on the empty chair beside her bed.
"At first I was feeling so reluctant to accept her. But seeing how Logan treats her and care for her like a egg as though he is afraid of he wasn't careful, she might break. Even if our son don't say anything about his relationship or love life. It is very obvious how much he cares and loves his wife. I just hope he doesn't take time before he realize it." Mrs Emerson said with a little sob.
"I feel we should Hannah find out who had tampered with her brain." She added cleaning the teardrop that slid down her cheeks.
"We must find out the truth dear at least she will be happy and I will feel at ease knowing that I'm not part of those that don't like her". She continued and Mr Emerson nodded in his head.
"I will ask my men to dig into her background. " He said and Mrs Emerson beamed a smile at her husband.
While the couple were busy watching over Hannah as she sleeps,
Logan and Carie got down from the car and went back into the hospital.
"I will take care of Hannah and make sure no random person enters her ward". Carie suggested.
"No need, I will speak to the doctor. Now that both her aunt and uncle are determined to not let Hannah regain her memory, they will do everything in their power to tamper with the brain scan. So you will keep a close eye on them. Once they arrive at the hospital, keep tracks of them. My men will be scattered all over the hospital so no foul play will take place. " He explained and Caroline said okay as they walked to get ward.
Upon arrival, Carie saw her Grandma fuming in rage and couldn't help but rush to meet her.
"Grandma, what is the matter? Why do you look so angry?"
"Are you asking me? Your grandfather and father have lost their minds. Tell me, I said it from day one that this girl will never got into our family. She is nothing but bad luck. But no one listen to me. " Grandma Emerson half yelled in frustration.
"What happened grandma?" Logan asked, walking towards her.
"Your mother and father went inside to check on that bad luck...."
"My wife is not bad luck grandma. Please grandma. Hannah hasn't don't anything wrong for you to utter such words. If you can't respect her as a woman, respect her as my wife. She is Logan Emerson wife not a bad luck". Logan said in a controlled tight voice.
"Even if she is your wife, she will always be a bad luck to me. That girl is cursed. And I will never accept her as my grand daughter. Never and not in the next life to come". Grandma Emerson said bitterly and turned away from her grandson.
Carie patted her grandmother's shoulder in a soothing manner.
"Grandma, don't be upset. You should know that's how Logan has been since he was a child". Carie said in his defense.
"Oh really? Your brother just insulted his blood all because of an outsider? A mere outsider, someone who isn't from a rich background. She belongs to the low class and pit she came..."
"ENOUGH AUNT!" Logan warned in a threatening tone.
Tessa rolled her eyes at him in anger and kept mute.
"Grandma, you very well know I won't apologize for the way I spoke to you. So can you tell me what father and grandfather did that made you think they have lost their minds?" Logan asked without beating round the bush.
Grandma Emerson stood up from the conjoining chairs and walked towards her grandson.
"Did you do a background check on your wife?" She asked and Logan didn't say anything. He wasn't the type of person that let anyone enter into his life, but who would have thought that a middle class naive girl would have entered into his life and he had totally forgotten to do a background check on her. Maybe he had believed that she sky do anything to harm him or so he thought.
