Chapter 37 - Consequences - (3)

I struggled to defend myself, but with each hit my consciousness slipped further away.

A few more strikes, and everything went black.

I woke up to a voice in my head, the one who thought of himself as Zero, because he doesn't know about his past nor his present, his only job is to fulfill his goal. He kept shouting until I finally came to.

And when I did, No. 7 was already there, waiting. He asked me to join GID, promising that if I did, I could have all the power I wanted.

I refused.

He only smirked, as if he expected that answer. Then he pulled out a box of files. Inside were documents about me, about my past, my family, the ones who abandoned me, and even my current one.

He began reading them aloud, every single detail. From the day I met the woman who was supposedly Suhee's mother, the event that started everything, to every place I had gone, every person I had met. He knew about Mr. Park, Mrs. Park, even Yumi.

I asked him why he was telling me all this.

He replied, "I just want you to understand, we know everything about you. Where you go, what you eat, the people close to you. Everything. You should know what happens when you go against us."

My body was writhe with pain. Staying conscious was a battle in itself, but I forced myself to face No. 7, clinging to every shred of strength I had left.

Then, after receiving a signal on some kind of device, he left. I was stranded in a plain white room, with nothing but a bed.

Hours passed before a buzzer rang. A guard in a 'GID' uniform entered, carrying a tray of food. He ordered me to eat.

I refused.

For all I knew, the food was poisoned.

This routine repeated for days, until finally, hunger broke me. I gave in only after the guard tore a piece of bread from the tray and ate it in front of me to prove it wasn't poisoned.

I was broken, waiting for Mr. Park to come and rescue me. Life itself seemed to stall, time crawling forward at a painfully slow pace.
