Chapter 39 - Escape - (1)

Meanwhile, No. 7's visits became less frequent. Weeks passed, and eventually, he stopped coming altogether.

In his absence, I grew closer to the guard who brought me food. At first, whenever I tried to start a conversation, he only gave me short, one-word replies. But after a few days, he began to open up, and soon, our exchanges turned into real conversations.

Still, time dragged on. Weeks slipped by, and I had no idea where Suhee was, or whether help was coming at all.

One night, as I lay awake, I made up my mind: I would escape on my own.

My plan was simple, reckless even, I'd ask the guard for directions and then fight my way out of the facility.

The next day, when the guard arrived, I told him I needed to know where the exit was. He hesitated, but eventually gave in. At the same time, he warned me: escaping would be nearly impossible.

He explained that three of the numbered members of the "GID" were currently inside the facility, and the rest would return in a few days. There were thirteen in total. Each one bore a number on their body, and each one possessed abilities that were frighteningly powerful.

I had already fought No. 13 and No. 7. Both had been more than tough, they had been overwhelming.

That only meant one thing. If I was going to try, it had to be tomorrow. Before the others came back.

To be continued...
