Chapter 41 - Riveria's Transformation

Bell groggily stirred in his bedroll, feeling the warmth of the High Elf in his arms. He ran his fingers through the locks of her fine jade hair as she slept, a serene expression on her face. He then came to a realization: they were both nearly naked. As he rolled over, he felt a piece of fabric on the pillow. The garment was unmistakable: Riveria's leggings. He must have undressed her in his sleep. Panic set in.

His first thought was to slip them back on her without arousing her. He needed to delicately balance his weight on his sleeping lover as he mounted the bedroll, then gingerly fit the leggings where they would comfortably meet her form.

Taking care not to make a sound, he pulled the sheets down, revealing that Riveria was indeed reduced to just her tank top and panties. This is my chance, he thought, and began to shift his weight around stealthily.

"Kuh—!" His heart betrayed him.

As he placed his foot on the ground, Bell pulled Riveria's covers down too low, exposing her bare, tender leg. In his attempt to cover it, Bell lost his balance, causing the entire bedroll to shake violently.

Riveria woke up in a flash. "Wh-wha—!...Sheesh, you scared me."

"I-I'm sorry!"

They looked at each other briefly before Riveria timidly sat up. "Did I fall asleep?"

"Um...yes. When you did, I tucked you in. I'll apologize as many times as I need to!"

Bell had apologized already, but Riveria's gaze was on her bedding, which had been moved. Her expression softened as she grabbed the leggings from under her pillow.

"Hmm."

"Eh?!"

She wasn't angry in the slightest, even after discovering that Bell had removed her leggings. "Bell Cranel...were you trying to take advantage of me?"

"What...m-me...?" Bell's face turned a bright shade of red.

Riveria teasingly poked him with her question. "Well, my clothes didn't take themselves off. So answer for it, boy!"

She thrust her finger in Bell's face. He'd seen this side of Riveria several times already. She didn't suffer fools gladly, but Bell couldn't tell if she was being serious or just teasing him.

Fidgeting restlessly, he raised both shoulders and hung his head, trying to make himself as small as possible. Riveria smiled warmly, deciding to show mercy.

"Hmm, it's a little warm in here anyway, so I won't need these," she said with a smirk, tossing her leggings to the side and lying down again. She gestured for him to crawl back under the covers with her.

"B-but—"

"You don't want to?"

"No, that's not it, but..."

Bell's concerns were swept aside by the allure of the lovely elf who beckoned him to her side.

After that, Bell didn't speak for a while, and Riveria didn't inquire further. She lay beside him, her jade hair draped across his pillow, her presence a soothing balm to his restless mind.

"Riveria, you've changed," Bell finally said.

"Changed?" she mumbled, her eyes still closed.

"Yeah." Bell paused, wondering if he should continue. "You used to be so upright and humorless. So proper, strict, and mean."

Bell flinched after those last words left his lips. What if she got angry? However, Riveria's long eyelashes remained unmoving. She didn't react at all to what he had just said.

"At least that's how I saw you...That's how it actually was."

Even at his most polite, Bell couldn't take back what he'd just said. Riveria's mouth opened ever so slightly, almost as if to speak, but no words came.

"Are you saying I've gotten soft?" she asked.

"I wouldn't go that far...Maybe you've gotten more comfortable around me."

Bell looked up at the ceiling, thinking about what he'd just said. "But it's different from being soft or easygoing. It's more like the mood is always better...This is weird to say, but the atmosphere feels a lot warmer...that's how it was..."

"I fell in love with a certain boy." Riveria's eyes remained closed, but her words were firm and strong.

"With him, I had a sense of freedom I'd never known before. I'm embarrassed to say I enjoyed myself to the point I'd let loose...Until that moment, I'd never experienced something like that."

"Ah..."

"Bell Cranel, you changed me. So, don't call me rigid. I was unrefined and had no interest in other people's affairs. That's why you should be able to understand."

Riveria reached her hand up and around Bell's neck, pulling him closer to her chest. The way his cheek pressed against her breasts felt almost as though he had a home to return to in her arms.

Her eyes stared directly into his, her gaze soft but firm. Riveria had no doubt in her mind that her love for Bell had fundamentally altered her life and made her a better person.

"Bell Cranel...When you met me, was I intimidating?"

"Uh... well, that's not the right word. I'd say harsh but fair. But you always had a motherly warmth to you."

Riveria was struck dumb.

The elf was absolutely sure he wouldn't have been able to say that had it been the day they had first met. That side of her was born only after she'd fallen for him.

"You've had a similar effect on other women, haven't you, Bell Cranel? Ais, for instance, and the waitress from the Hostess of Fertility."

"Eh?!"

"It's no surprise. Even goddesses have fallen for you...Such a strange boy."

"Ais-san, Ryuu-san, and Riveria-san... you're all cool beauties."

"That's your type, is it?"

Bell's face turned bright red as he quickly tried to explain himself. He shook his head and arms at an incredible pace before sitting up and shouting his answer.

"All of you are so good and kind at your core...there's something special that keeps drawing me in..."

He didn't mean to say that last part out loud, but Riveria giggled nonetheless, bringing her face close to Bell's as her eyes gazed at his. She kept their noses from touching and sealed off any escape route he might have.

"I confess, I've been interested in you for a long time. You've inspired so many in my familia, Ais in particular. My curiosity about you grew ever since Ais spoke so fondly of you. At first, I had no idea why someone as aloof as Ais would fall for such an innocent boy."

"Ais-san spoke fondly of me?"

"Yes, she did. 'A boy with white hair and ruby-red eyes who shines brighter than anyone.' That was the first time she'd ever smiled...It was impossible to ignore from that moment on."

Bell's cheeks flushed bright pink as he took in the whole meaning of her words.

Riveria's gentle voice had a different tone than usual, Bell could feel himself getting pulled in, unable to resist as her beauty enchanted him. The elf's otherworldly presence was irresistible.

Riveria wrapped her arms around his shoulders. Bell felt the sensation of her breast against his shoulder blade as the beautiful elf brought her lips to his ear.

"I know you've already seen Ais and Tiona naked before..."

Bell's breath caught in his throat.

"Eh?" He blushed furiously.

Riveria's lips curved upwards, her expression hiding a hint of amusement. "I'm not angry," she said. "Remember your little escapade on the 18th floor when you peeped on the girls bathing?"

Bell's flush deepened. "R-Right," he muttered.

"Did you enjoy it?" Riveria asked.

Bell hesitated. "I can't deny that they were beautiful. Ais especially. But...seeing Ais' naked body only made me even more embarrassed," he said.

Riveria raised an eyebrow. "So you didn't want to see any more?"

"No, I did!" Bell blurted out, clapping a hand over his mouth as if to take back those words. Riveria laughed a melodic sound that sent shivers down his spine.

"Honesty is a good trait in men," she said.

"S-Sorry," Bell mumbled.

"Don't apologize." Riveria smiled at him and took his hand.

"Your hair's a mess," Riveria noted, her voice carrying a gentle tease.

Bell grimaced, touching his disheveled white hair. He had washed up after sparring with Tiona and Tione, but his bedroll wasn't precisely a fancy pillow. Riveria reached forward, her slender hands running through his locks and straightening them.

Bell melted under her touch.

"Good grief, what am I going to do with you, Bell Cranel?" Riveria murmured and pressed her lips to his.

Bell chuckled, fingers combing through his disheveled locks. "Yeah, it's been a rough few days."

Riveria shifted closer, her bare leg brushing against his. "Let me," she offered, lifting her hand to his hair.

Riveria then rose gracefully, her movements fluid and deliberate. Bell felt his eyes widen at the sight of her alabaster skin in the lamplight. His heart fluttered at the sight of Riveria's nymph-like form; she was statuesque, a goddess of incomparable beauty. Her jade hair tumbled past her shoulders, spilling onto her firm breasts and toned abdomen.

The tent's fabric rustled softly as she reached her small pack. She rummaged through it briefly before extracting a finely crafted comb, its handle adorned with delicate elven patterns.

Riveria noticed him gazing and flashed a coy smile. "I'm not used to showing skin in front of others," she said, her voice soft, "but I don't mind being a little more revealing for you."

Riveria moved towards him, her hips swaying from side to side. Bell swallowed as he watched her, mesmerized by her graceful movements, her underwear tapering between her bare, elongated, shapely legs.

Returning to the bedroll, Riveria knelt down beside Bell and began to smooth his hair gently. Her pale fingers brushed against his forehead as she carefully straightened his white locks.

Bell closed his eyes and let himself sink into her touch.

"Relax," Riveria whispered as she climbed onto his lap. "Now, let me comb your hair."

Bell complied, his eyes following her every movement. There was something almost ceremonial about how the comb was poised in her hand like an artist's brush.

Riveria took his white hair and gently brushed it with her comb. Bell sighed softly, enjoying the sensation.

Riveria began at the crown of his head, drawing the comb through his hair with measured strokes. The comb's teeth slid smoothly through the tangles, each pass a methodical unraveling of the day's trials and tribulations. Bell closed his eyes again, surrendering to the care she bestowed upon him.

Riveria's focus was unwavering, her eyes tracing the path of the comb as it moved through Bell's hair. Her eyes were soft as she gazed down at him. Her full lips curved upwards, a slight smile playing upon her countenance as she observed Bell's tranquil face.

"Your hair's very nice," she commented quietly. "It's soft, white as snow, and has a beautiful sheen to it. I could brush it for hours."

"It even matches your underwear," Bell breathed.

Riveria blushed, then leaned forward and pressed her lips to his ear. "I only ever wear white, Bell Cranel," she whispered. "Or are you interested in seeing me in more... salacious colors?"

Bell felt the color rush to his face. "I didn't mean it like that!" he spluttered.

Riveria's smile widened, but she didn't answer his protestations. "Do you prefer black?"

"I prefer white," Bell said softly, averting his eyes from hers. "It's the color purity."

"Hmm." Riveria resumed combing his hair. "And it reminds me of you."

She shifted in his lap, straddling him so that her upper thighs hugged his hips. Bell tensed at the sensation of her soft flesh on his own. He dared not look down for fear of what he might see.

Riveria drew closer, the warmth of her body emanating through the thin fabric of his underwear.

Her hands continued their meticulous work, moving lower now, smoothing out the strands until they lay perfectly straight and untangled. The intimacy of the act was not lost on either of them; it was a quiet testament to how far they had come together.

Riveria was so close to him now that Bell could feel her breath tickle his ears. He trembled as her hands roamed lower still, traveling from his head to his shoulders.

"Riveria," he said, "you're gorgeous."

Riveria gazed at him, her face inches from his. "You're sweet," she said. "But beauty is subjective. You may think I'm beautiful, but others may not."

"No. You're objectively beautiful. More beautiful than a goddess. It's a fact," Bell argued.

Riveria flushed slightly, looking down at her hands. "Thank you," she said softly. "That means a lot coming from you."

Riveria's expression softened as she finished her task, setting the comb aside with a satisfied nod. "There," she said quietly. "All done."

Bell opened his eyes and turned to face her fully. "Thank you," he said once more, this time with even more profound sincerity. "That felt amazing."

Riveria gave a faint smile and reached out to brush a strand of hair from his face.

Bell stared at her for a moment before slowly leaning in towards her and gently pressing his lips to hers.

"Mmm." Riveria smiled and kissed him back.

The two embraced, sharing a kiss that spoke more than words could say. They had done this before, but this time was different.

Riveria pulled away from the kiss, her eyes sparkling with a mixture of amusement and tenderness. She traced Bell's cheek with her fingers, her touch lingering. Bell's heart raced, his breath shallow as he stared into her emerald eyes.

"You've grown so much," Riveria murmured, her voice barely above a whisper. "Not just in strength, but in spirit."

Bell blinked. "Thanks," he mumbled, unsure of how to respond.

Riveria's hand trailed down the length of his neck before finally coming to rest upon his bare chest. She could feel his heartbeat quickening in pace with every passing second.

"You're nervous," Riveria observed, a hint of teasing in her voice. "Don't be."

Bell swallowed hard, unable to speak. Riveria leaned forward, her lips hovering over his.

"Relax," she whispered before closing the distance between them.

Their lips met once more, her soft ones pressing against his.

Bell inhaled sharply as she deepened the kiss, her tongue exploring his mouth with increasing urgency.

His mind reeled, and all he could think about was how incredible she tasted, how much he wanted her. He kissed her back, their tongues intertwining, their hands roaming each other's bodies.

"You're the fire that ignites everything around you," Riveria murmured against his lips. "Like all flames, it is fleeting, but I will kindle it."

Bell said nothing, listening intently as her words washed over him.

"The flames burn bright, but they also burn out," Riveria continued, her tone softening. "But in your case, Bell Cranel, they are merely embers."

Her fingers danced lightly over his chest, her touch leaving goosebumps in their wake.

"I promise I will never burn out." He said resolutely.

"I know you won't," Riveria replied, her smile widening slightly. "You have a heart that burns with the desire to protect and to love. That's what makes you special."

Bell flushed but was unable to argue. Her words hit home, and he was suddenly reminded of all the times he'd helped others without even realizing it.

"When you're with me, I feel invincible," he said, gazing into Riveria's emerald eyes.

"When I'm with you, I feel alive," Riveria whispered, her hand moving lower along his chest.

Bell could hardly breathe, and his heart beat wildly as she continued her exploration. His fingers traced the smooth contours of her waist, marveling at the way her skin felt against his.

"Riveria-sama..." he moaned, his voice a breathless whisper. "I..."

"Shh," she breathed, placing her finger on his lips.

Bell's hands trailed along the curve of her back, his touch hesitant at first, then growing more confident as she responded in kind.

Riveria cupped his face in her hands and kissed him deeply, her lips brushing against his. She could feel his pulse quicken beneath her fingertips as they moved over his skin.

Bell's fingers traced the contours of her face, following the lines of her jawbone and cheeks.

Riveria leaned in once more, pressing a gentle kiss to his forehead. "Rest now," she whispered against his skin. "Tomorrow brings new challenges."

Bell nodded wordlessly, his eyes slipping closed. He wrapped his arms around her and held her close as sleep took hold, his body relaxing in her embrace.

He fell asleep, but not before murmuring softly against Riveria's lips: "I love you."

She smiled as she listened to his breathing slowly. "I love you too," she whispered back, her voice barely audible.

"More than you know."

The camp remained quiet as the night wore on, except for the occasional snore and murmur. The flickering light of the campfire cast long shadows that danced along the edges of their makeshift shelter.

The group slept soundly around them, with Ais's steady breathing, Tiona's soft snores, and Lili's rhythmic rustling as she shifted in her sleep all contributing to an atmosphere of camaraderie and safety.

Bell and Riveria lay close together, their hands entwined under the covers. Though friends and allies surrounded them, this moment was uniquely theirs—a quiet reprieve from the chaos that had defined their recent days.

Riveria watched Bell's peaceful face as he drifted into slumber. Her heart swelled with love and pride for the boy who had become so much more than just an adventurer seeking glory.

He was her hero.

Riveria was roused from her slumber by the sound of her tent flaps being drawn back.

Finn enters the tent

"Good morning, Riveria."

Riveria blinked groggily up at her captain, who stood above her with a quizzical expression on his face.

"Good morning," she muttered, rubbing her eyes.

"You've never been one for cuddling." Finn glanced down at Bell's sleeping form. "At least not with adventurers."

"Finn," she began, but he cut her off with a wave of his hand.

"I won't pry," he said gently. "But remember, we're still in the Dungeon. It's not safe to let your guard down."

"I'm well aware of that." Riveria stifled a yawn, shifting her gaze back to Bell. "Thank you for your concern."

"Of course." Finn gave her a reassuring smile. "We're moving out in due time. Take a moment to get yourself ready."

"I will."

"And where are your pants?"

"They're on the ground," Riveria said nonchalantly, not bothering to glance down at them. "Is there a problem?"

"I did catch a glimpse of your panties."

"!"

"I don't think that matters in the grand scheme of things," Finn added hastily, seeing the look on her face. "It's not like I'm judging you."

"I've been more reckless than usual lately."

"I know," Finn said with a wry smile. "I won't ask you to explain it, but I have my suspicions."

Riveria let out a tired sigh. "You have a sharp eye as always," she said, shaking her head. "Even so, I would appreciate it if you didn't make assumptions about my personal life."

Finn shrugged. "It's none of my business," he chirped. "I trust you to make good decisions, and I have no doubts that you will."

Riveria stared at him, her expression unreadable. Finn sighed.

"Just be careful." His words carried a weight that she couldn't ignore.

"I will," she said, more seriously this time.

"I didn't mean to interrupt anything... intimate."

"Nothing happened!" Riveria insisted, her cheeks now crimson. "We were sleeping! That's all!"

"Both of you have no clothes on."

"It was warm in here!" Riveria said defensively. "We didn't want to overheat!"

Finn regarded her for a moment, then nodded slowly. "If you say so." He reached out to pat her shoulder reassuringly.

"This is just between us."

"What is?"

"The other night... what you did with him," Finn said, tilting his head and gesturing toward Bell. "That sort of thing...It can be addictive."

"What do you mean?"

"It's like a drug... Once you've had a taste, you'll always want more." Finn smiled wryly as he scratched the back of his head. "But please don't take that as me criticizing your decisions. I'm not one to judge."

"I see..." Riveria mumbled under her breath, glancing at Bell's sleeping form once again. She sat up and gave Finn a sidelong look.

"Perhaps."

Finn then turned to leave the tent. "I'll leave you to it, then. We have to get moving soon." He paused at the entrance and glanced back over his shoulder at her. "Also... please put some pants on. Both of you."

"My my Riveria-chan. What a show you've given me today!"

The voice was that of Aisha Belka. It seemed the couple had more visitors.

Riveria flushed even harder at the Amazon's intrusion. "Can't I get some privacy in my own tent?!"

Aisha raised an eyebrow at her response. "Oh? Feeling a bit bold this morning, are we?"

"It's nothing you need to worry about," Riveria said, sounding more exasperated than annoyed.

Aisha chuckled and leaned over Bell, examining him from every angle. She could feel his heart beating beneath her palms as she pressed against him, relishing the feeling of power she had over him in this state.

"So, is he good in bed?"

Riveria grimaced and tugged at the hem of her top, trying to cover herself up. "Must you be so vulgar?" she muttered.

Aisha smirked and licked her lips in anticipation. "I think I might have a go myself. Can't let you elves hog all the fun."

Riveria frowned at Aisha's lewd suggestion. "You wouldn't dare—"

"Oh, relax!" Aisha interrupted with a wave of her hand. "I'm just messing with you."

Riveria sighed in relief and then looked down at Bell's sleeping body once more.

"Still...He's quite handsome... especially when he's vulnerable," she remarked.

Aisha stared at Riveria's exposed curves before answering with a suggestive grin: "Want to trade places?"

Riveria recoiled in disgust. "No," she said curtly, folding her arms across her chest protectively. "I'd rather not."

Aisha shrugged and turned away from them. "Suit yourself," she said, walking to the tent entrance and crouching down to leave through the opening. "By the way, nice panties."

"Can everyone stop talking about my underwear, please?" Riveria shouted after her retreating form. "Honestly!"

"Be a little more discreet next time, won't you? We're in the middle of a quest," Aisha said, chuckling to herself.

Riveria let out an exasperated sigh. "Your underwear is showing all the time, and yet I've never seen you get scolded," she muttered under her breath as Aisha sauntered away from the tent.

"Glad you're emulating the dress code of us Amazons, Nine Hell." Aisha laughed. "But seriously, he is pretty cute, huh?"

The sound of Aisha's laughter echoed through the tent as she disappeared from view. Riveria shook her head in disbelief before turning her attention back to Bell, who was still sound asleep beside her.

Riveria contemplated the Amazon's words, wondering if perhaps she'd let herself become too caught up in the moment.

Riveria groaned and buried her face in her hands. "This is not happening," she mumbled.

"Time to rise and shine, everyone!" Tiona's cheery voice joined in. "Up and at 'em! Today's our big day!"

Riveria turned her head to see the brunette girl striding into the tent with a wide grin on her face.

"T-Tiona! I'm busy!" Riveria sneered. "Show a little restraint."

"Busy doing what?" Tiona asked, genuinely confused.

"She was busy sleeping. Duh," Aisha said flatly.

Tiona pouted. "Uh? But sleeping is boring! I thought we were going to have some fun today!"

"Having fun is fine, but let's save it for after we finish this quest," Riveria said sternly.

Tiona's expression brightened immediately. "Alright then!" she exclaimed, clapping her hands together excitedly.

"Are we all good to go?" Finn inquired as he exited the tent.

"Yep!" Tiona chirped happily.

Riveria sighed and shook her head at the younger girl's enthusiasm. She rose from her bedroll, gathering her clothes from the ground and quickly pulling them on.

"Hey, Riveria-san, can you zip up the tent flaps?" Lefiya spoke up.

The elf scowled as she strode towards the tent's opening and closed it behind her, grumbling as she did so. "This is so undignified!"

"Isn't that great?" Finn inquired with a chuckle, peering past her shoulder at the campsite. "Everyone's in a good mood."

Riveria looked over her shoulder, staring blankly at him. "Is it really so unusual for adventurers to be in a good mood before a mission?"

Finn shrugged. "Sometimes." He tapped the tip of his spear against his temple as if contemplating something important. "But with this lot... we're most likely going to encounter some sort of calamity today."

Riveria let out an exasperated sigh and threw up her hands. "Great."

"Well, that's an adventurer's life for you," Finn said with a wink.

"Medusa really has it out for me," Riveria said. "I keep foiling her plans to make Bell Cranel hers."

"Ah, yes. The big scary snake lady." Finn mused.

"So much effort for a single man," Riveria continued with a sigh. "She's a stubborn one."

"Women always fall for him in droves," Finn quipped. "I wonder why."

"Oh, Finn, you'll never know if you have to ask."

The prum warrior smiled wryly and patted her on the shoulder. "Let's get moving. We've got a long day ahead of us."

Riveria nodded and followed him out of the tent.

Finn stood at the center of the camp, spear in hand, his eyes scanning the faces of his comrades. The sun had just begun to rise, casting a golden hue over the forest. The adventurers gathered around him, their expressions a mix of determination and anticipation.

"Everyone, listen up!" Finn's voice cut through the morning air, commanding attention. "We've come a long way to reach this point. Each one of you has shown incredible bravery and strength, but our journey is far from over."

He paused, letting his words sink in. The adventurers stood in silence, their focus unwavering.

"Today, we face one of our greatest challenges yet," Finn continued. "Medusa's power is formidable, and her hatred for us—especially Riveria—is unmatched. But we are not just any group of adventurers. We are Loki Familia and fight with the strength and unity that no enemy can break."

His gaze shifted to Bell, who stood with Riveria by his side. "Bell Cranel personifies the true spirit of heroism with his unyielding courage and unwavering determination. His exceptional qualities have not only propelled us to where we are now but have also instilled in us the confidence to face the challenges that lie ahead."

Bell's cheeks flushed slightly at the praise, but he nodded resolutely.

"We have faced countless dangers in the Dungeon," Finn continued. "We have faced fearsome creatures that would send most adventurers running. But through it all, we have remained united. Today is no exception."

He raised his spear high, its tip gleaming in the morning light. "We fight not just for ourselves but for each other. For Riveria's sacrifice, the future of Orario, and the bonds that make us stronger than any foe we face."

The adventurers' eyes burned with a shared resolve as Finn's words fueled their spirits.

"Remember your training," Finn said firmly. "Believe in your companions. Above all, have faith in your own abilities."

A murmur of agreement rippled through the group.

"Today, we will not falter," Finn declared. "We stand united against Medusa and her army of Gorgon-Spawn. Victory is ours as we fight with the heart of heroes."

He lowered his spear and met each pair of eyes around him with a steely gaze. "Let's demonstrate to Medusa what it truly means to take on Loki Familia!"

The adventurers cheered as they raised their weapons in unison, their spirits ignited by Finn's rousing speech.

They braced themselves to confront whatever awaited them in the Dungeon's depths.

"Alright, everyone. We're moving out," Finn instructed. Make sure you're completely geared up."

The camp buzzed with activity as everyone prepared for the upcoming mission. Gear clinked and rustled as weapons were sheathed, armor was adjusted, and packs were filled with essentials. Bell Cranel moved swiftly among his companions, checking in with each one to ensure they were ready.

"Ais-san, how's your sword?" Bell asked, his voice carrying a newfound authority.

Ais Wallenstein nodded, giving her blade a final inspection. "Sharp and ready."

Lefiya Viridis fumbled with her staff but managed to secure it to her back. Tiona and Tione adjusted their weaponry, exchanging determined glances.

Asfi held a map, tracing their route with her finger. "If we maintain our pace, we should reach the next waypoint by nightfall," she said.

Bell acknowledged her with a nod before moving to Riveria's side. She sat quietly, eyes closed in meditation, recovering from her recent ordeal. He placed a gentle hand on her shoulder.

"Riveria, are you feeling up for this?"

Her eyes fluttered open, meeting his gaze with unwavering resolve. "I'll be fine, Bell. Let's focus on the mission."

Nearby, Aisha watched the exchange intently, her expression unreadable. She'd been observing Bell closely since his return from Medusa's labyrinth. His transformation was evident not just in his demeanor but also in the way he carried himself—confident and determined.

"Aisha," Bell called out as he walked towards her, breaking her train of thought. "How's everything on your end?"

She gave him a once-over before responding, "We're good to go. I'm just making sure everyone's focused."

Bell offered a grateful smile before turning to address the group. "Alright, everyone. It's time to disassemble the camp. Let's move quickly."

The team sprang into action. Tents were collapsed and rolled up efficiently, while cooking supplies and personal items were packed away in record time. Even amidst the chaos of preparation, there was an underlying sense of unity and purpose.

Riveria rose slowly, supported by Lefiya and Ais. She caught Aisha's lingering gaze on Bell and raised an eyebrow.

"Something on your mind?" Riveria asked softly as they passed by.

Aisha shook her head slightly but couldn't help the curiosity that lingered in her eyes. "Just thinking how much he's grown."

Riveria glanced at Bell, who was now coordinating with Finn and Welf about their next steps. She felt a swell of pride mixed with gratitude.

"Yes," she agreed quietly. "He really has."

When they'd first met, he'd been an awkward, unsure teenager. But she'd witnessed his growth firsthand during his time imprisoned in Medusa's artificial world. He'd overcome his fears, pushed his limits, and even took on the leadership mantle when needed. Now, here he was, the spitting image of a hero from an old epic.

"You would know first hand in the bedroom. How much he's grown." Aisha joked, grinning wickedly.

Riveria's face flushed at the comment. "I don't know what you're talking about," she mumbled defensively, averting her gaze.

Aisha snorted, her arms crossed, eyes glinting with mischief. The campfire crackled between them, casting dancing shadows on their faces. "If you say so."

Riveria squirmed under her scrutiny. "Do we need to discuss this now? We have more pressing matters at hand."

Aisha grinned wolfishly.

"After this, let's have a chat." Aisha purred, her eyes glinting mischievously.

Riveria shot her a sideways glance before turning back to the others. She took a deep breath and steeled herself for what lay ahead.

Bell Cranel stood at the center, his eyes scanning the faces of his companions. He felt the weight of their expectations and the gravity of the mission ahead. Riveria, though still recovering, stood resolutely beside him.

"Ready?" Finn asked, breaking the silence.

Bell nodded wordlessly. With that, they began their march towards Medusa's lair—towards adventure and destiny.

"Remember, stay close together."

As the group trekked deeper into the Dungeon, tension and anticipation filled the air. The flickering torchlight created an atmosphere of danger and determination. Bell led the way, with Ais by his side, a comforting reminder of their shared goals.

Lefiya noticed changes in their surroundings and quietly alerted Tiona and Tione, who readied their weapons. Asfi kept watch from the rear, scanning for any potential danger.

"Stay close," Finn advised, his spear held firmly. "We're entering Medusa's territory now."

Bell glanced back at Riveria, who offered a reassuring nod. He knew she was still weak from her ordeal, but her spirit remained unbroken. He drew strength from her presence and focused on the path ahead.

The Dungeon's corridors twisted and turned, each step bringing them closer to Medusa's lair. The stifling silence was sometimes broken by distant echoes and the soft murmur of water dripping from unseen sources. The adventurers moved with caution, their senses heightened.

Suddenly, Ais halted, raising a hand to signal for silence. The group froze, listening intently. The faint sound of slithering reached their ears, growing louder with each passing moment.

"Get ready," Bell whispered, drawing his weapon.

From the shadows emerged a group of Gorgon-Spawn, their snake-like bodies gliding across the stone floor with eerie grace. Their eyes gleamed with malice as they approached, muskets raised.

"Loki Familia!" Finn's voice rang out. "Engage!"

The adventurers launched into action, their battle cries echoing off the cavern walls. Weapons clashed, sparks flying as metal met stone, and the air filled with shouts and screams of anger and pain. The Gorgon-Spawn fought ferociously, but Loki Familia was relentless, their movements precise and coordinated.

Bell quickly moved through the approaching enemies, his sharp blade cutting through them with precise and calculated strikes.

Ais unleashed a relentless assault, her rapid and lethal movements carving a path of devastation wherever she went.

"Gimme one of those!" Tione bellowed, referring to the twin Vespyad forged axes she was wielding. She expertly knocked another Gorgon-Spawn aside before swooping in on Tiona, who was also laying waste to the serpentine soldiers.

"You know where these babies are kept! Let me have one!" Tione insisted.

Tiona smirked and handed one of her blades to her sister. "Just be careful."

"And make sure you don't die," Tiona added, smirking at her sister's eagerness.

Tione responded with a grin before jumping back into the fray, slicing through the air with pinpoint accuracy. Tiona watched with amusement as her sister unleashed a flurry of blows, quickly reducing the Gorgon-Spawn forces to rubble.

Tiona and Tione fought as a seamless unit, their blades moving in perfect harmony. With Tione's twin blades and Tiona's Urga, they unleashed a relentless barrage of strikes, creating a whirlwind of steel and stone that no enemy could withstand.

Bell felt Riveria's presence behind him, weaving protective spells to shield her allies from harm. He stole a quick glance at her as she murmured the incantations, her intense focus evident on her face. Despite her weakened condition, Riveria remained capable in combat, her magic fortifying their defenses and offering crucial support.

The battle raged fiercely but was swiftly won; Loki Familia's unity and might swiftly triumphed over the Gorgon-Spawn. As the final foe crumpled to the ground, Bell took a moment to exhale deeply and gaze around at his valiant companions.

"Everyone alright?" he asked.

A chorus of affirmations answered him as they regrouped and continued their journey through the Dungeon's labyrinthine corridors.

Their resolve was unshaken; they would face whatever challenges lay ahead together as one formidable force.

The weary party set up a makeshift camp in a secure area within the Dungeon for the night. Finn directed the group in pitching tents, laying out bedrolls, and starting a small fire for warmth and comfort amidst the cold, damp air.

"Let's keep watch rotations," Finn instructed. "We can't afford any surprises."

The adventurers agreed on the plan. Tiona and Tione took the first watch, Ais sharpened her sword, Lefiya checked supplies, and Asfi examined the map.

Bell moved quietly among his companions, ensuring everyone had what they needed. His eyes occasionally drifted towards Riveria, who sat slightly apart from the group, her back against a boulder. She looked pale but composed, recovering from her earlier exertion.

As the night deepened and his companions began to drift into uneasy slumber, Bell made his way towards Riveria. He approached her with soft steps, careful not to draw attention.

"Riveria," he whispered, crouching beside her.

She opened her eyes slowly, meeting his gaze with a mixture of weariness and warmth. "Bell," she replied softly.

He extended a hand to help her up. "Come with me," he urged gently.

She hesitated for a moment but then took his hand. Together, they slipped away from the main camp, finding a secluded spot just beyond the reach of the firelight. The distant sounds of their companions' breathing and occasional murmurs faded into the background.

Bell spread out his cloak on the ground, creating a small space for them to sit together. He settled beside her, close enough to feel her presence but not intruding on her personal space.

"How are you feeling?" he asked quietly.

Riveria sighed softly. "Tired but grateful," she admitted. "You've all done so much for me."

Bell shook his head slightly. "We owe you everything," he said earnestly. "You saved my life."

They sat in comfortable silence for a few moments, the weight of their shared experiences hanging in the air between them. Bell's hand found its way to hers, fingers intertwining gently.

"I'm here for you," he whispered.

Riveria's eyes softened as she looked at him, a small smile playing on her lips. "And I for you," she replied.

They remained there through the night, drawing strength from each other's presence amidst the encroaching darkness of Medusa's realm.

Bell and Riveria, exhausted from their journey and the day's battles, eventually fell asleep in each other's arms. The rhythmic rise and fall of Riveria's breathing lulled Bell into a rare moment of peace, his fingers still intertwined with hers. The overbearing weight of the Dungeon seemed to lift slightly as they rested, drawing strength from their shared warmth.

Hours later, Bell stirred, sensing a change in the atmosphere. He blinked his eyes open to find the fire reduced to glowing embers, casting eerie shadows on the rocky walls. His heart skipped a beat as he noticed a figure standing at the edge of their secluded spot.

It was an apparition, shimmering with an ethereal glow—a manifestation of Medusa herself. She was in her exquisitely beautiful human form, but there was something sinister about her presence. She wore her signature red and black dress with intricate golden detailing around her eyes, enhancing her ominous presence.

"You may have escaped my vengeance," Medusa purred, her voice dripping with venomous delight. "But you will never escape my wrath. I know all your dirty little secrets."

Bell tensed, instinctively moving closer to Riveria as if to shield her from the apparition's gaze. His mind raced, struggling to process the sudden intrusion.

Medusa took a step forward, her movements fluid and deliberate. She reveled in Bell's discomfort, savoring his unease like a fine wine.

"You see, my dear Bell, Riveria was not the only one who could forge a bond with you. I have crept into the dark side of your heart, and now you carry me with you wherever you go." Medusa continued, her voice dropping to a sinister whisper. "The day my venom entered your blood, and the day it found the darkness hidden within your heart, you were mine."

Bell's blood ran cold at her words. He recalled Riveria's warning about Medusa's influence and felt a creeping sense of dread take hold in the pit of his stomach.

She stopped beside Riveria's sleeping form, leaning down to brush a lock of jade hair away from her face. Bell's heart pounded in his chest as he watched helplessly.

"Oh? It appears the heir of Celdia has been tainted. The virtuous century-old maiden has been violated by a mere human." Medusa then ran her finger along Riveria's exposed collarbone.

"What are you talking about?" Bell said defiantly.

Medusa smiled wickedly at him, her lips twisting into an expression of mockery and amusement. "Don't play the fool. You know exactly what I mean." She pulled her hand away from Riveria's neckline, bringing her fingers up to her face for a tantalizing sniff. "Her scent is unmistakable."

Bell's breath caught in his throat as Medusa's eyes met his once more.

"Your precious Riveria," she whispered, her voice a sinister caress. "She's carrying your child."

Bell recoiled from her, his mind reeling. Medusa's words sank into his consciousness, poisoning his thoughts with their poisonous truths.

A child. My child...

His heart clenched painfully in his chest as the realization struck him like a blow to the gut.

"You see Bell, when you defiled Ljos Alf, my venom entered her body." Medusa smirked at him, her expression full of malicious pleasure. "Whilst I have no direct influence over Ljos Alf, I see into her mind and body."

Bell could barely breathe as he processed what Medusa had revealed. He was going to be a father—but at what cost?

The price was Riveria's freedom, her virtue—tainted by the filth of a human boy who was destined to destroy everything she held dear.

"You know, dirty little secrets like these have a way of... leaking..." Medusa continued, her words laced with venom. "Secrets like these have a way of destroying reputations and ruining lives."

Bell's blood ran cold as the implication of her words hit him.

"When the other High Elves learn of this, Ljos Alf and you are finished. Her own father will disown her. She will become a pariah of her own people." Medusa taunted cruelly.

Bell felt tears well up in his eyes as he gazed at Riveria's peaceful form, knowing that everything she'd fought so hard to build for herself was threatened by their relationship.

"And you, Bell Cranel, will be burned at the stake." Medusa's voice dropped to a hiss, her eyes flashing with rage. "After all, you corrupted their purest and holiest of maidens."

"Why are you telling me all this?"

"I have a little proposition for you."

"!?"

"Kill your unborn child. Kill it and Ljos Alf's honour will be restored." Medusa flashed a sinister grin at Bell. "Save your lover."

"Why do you hate Riveria so much?" Bell asked, trying to buy himself time to think.

"Because this privileged, spoilt High Elf had everything handed to her on a plate. And then she comes out of nowhere and steals your heart away." Medusa snarled.

"No. That's not why you hate Riveria." Bell insisted. "It's because she's ruined your plans."

Medusa scoffed at him, shaking her head slowly. "It's true this one is a thorn in my side. But the fact that she is carrying your spawn is what truly angers me."

"Our child is innocent."

"The offspring of a mere human and High Elf cannot be innocent." Medusa spat bitterly. "It is an abomination! Kill it! Kill it now!"

Bell recoiled from her in disgust, his blood boiling at her words. "Never," he swore. "I will not murder an innocent life."

Medusa's eyes flashed with hatred as she glared at him.

"If you do not slay this abomination, then your dirty little secret will be out, and your lives will be ruined, and you will go from hero to zero."

Bell stared defiantly at the Gorgon.

"I have sacrificed too much for Riveria's freedom. I will not let your poison endanger our future."

Medusa let out a peal of malicious laughter.

"I have ways of making sure everyone knows. Kleptos, my faithful servant, is still active on the surface, and he has control of all the printing press."

"!"

"I will leak this story to every printing press in Orario and beyond."

"You wouldn't!"

"Oh, I would, and I will." Medusa sneered. "You will be pariahs, scorned by your own people, and hunted by humanity. And when your precious Sword Princess finds out, I promise you that you are finished."

Bell struggled to contain his rage at Medusa's threats. His fists clenched tightly at his sides as he fought to control the urge to attack her.

Riveria's brows furrowed, and Bell realized his trembling had awakened her.

Medusa straightened up, a triumphant smile playing on her lips. She relished the chaos she had sown, knowing it would haunt Bell long after she had gone.

"Remember," she said as she began to fade away. "You can never escape the darkness. All your lights are about to go out. I'll get a hold of your baby either way, and I'll eat it whole."

Bell watched as Medusa's apparition vanished into thin air, leaving him alone with his thoughts and the daunting prospect of facing his demons.

"Bell?" Riveria's sleep-dazed voice snapped him back to reality.

"You're awake," he said softly.

"What's wrong? You seem agitated." Riveria rubbed her eyes groggily. "Did something happen?"

"I..." Bell hesitated, unsure how to tell her what Medusa had revealed to him. "Oh, Riveria! I'm sorry! I'm so sorry!"

Riveria's expression turned from concern to fear as she realized the gravity of Bell's distress.

"What's wrong?" she demanded, her voice laced with worry.

"Medusa appeared," Bell admitted finally, unable to hold it in any longer.

"What did she say?" Riveria asked, her eyes wide with concern.

"She said..." Bell struggled to get the words out, tears forming in his eyes. "She said that you're pregnant with my child."

Riveria froze, her entire body going rigid with shock. Her eyes widened, her cheeks flushed red, and she suddenly felt lightheaded.

Bell continued to speak despite the pain in his heart, "She also said that if I don't kill our child, then we both will be burned at the stake."

Riveria sat in stunned silence, unable to process what she was hearing.

"So we are having a baby?" She breathed, still in disbelief.

"I'm sorry," Bell whimpered, burying his face in his hands. "I'm so sorry, Riveria."

Riveria didn't respond, her mind reeling from the revelation. A myriad of emotions threatened to overwhelm her, swirling within her like a maelstrom: joy, fear, and uncertainty.

The silence between them stretched on until finally, Bell spoke again, his voice heavy with remorse. "Medusa threatened to leak this information to every printing press in Orario and beyond."

Riveria's breath hitched in her throat as she absorbed the total weight of Bell's words.

"Oh gods... Oh, Bell..."

"I'm so sorry," Bell cried, tears streaming down his face. "I'm so sorry."

Riveria moved closer to him, wrapping her arms around his shaking form in a comforting embrace. She could feel his heart pounding against her chest as they clung to each other desperately, seeking solace in their shared pain and fear.

"I'm afraid that everyone will treat us differently once they know." Riveria lamented. "How can I ever face the other High Elves?"

"I'm so sorry," Bell sobbed, clutching her tightly. "This is all my fault."

"No," Riveria whispered fiercely, her voice trembling with emotion. "This should be a happy moment. I already chose you over my own people. And our love has born fruit. A child just like Eina, a half-elf of High Elf blood. Half of our peoples."

Bell sniffled, rubbing at his eyes as he tried to compose himself. "What are we going to do?" he asked brokenly.

Riveria hesitated for a moment, then took a deep breath and steeled herself.

"There's only one thing to do. Tell everyone the truth."

"!" Bell's eyes widened in shock as he looked at Riveria.

"We must own up to our feelings. We cannot keep hiding our love like some kind of dirty little secret." Riveria's voice was steady despite the fear she felt in her heart. "It's also the only way to throw a monkey wrench into the works of Medusa's scheme."

Riveria and Bell returned to the camp, their expressions somber but resolute. The group, still drowsy from their interrupted sleep, gathered around the fire, sensing the gravity of the moment.

Riveria took a deep breath, her hand gripping Bell's for support. She stepped forward, her voice steady despite the tumultuous emotions roiling within her. "Everyone, there's something important I need to share with you."

The companions exchanged concerned glances, their curiosity piqued.

Riveria continued, "I am... pregnant. And Bell is the father."

A deafening silence settled over the group as they struggled to process the unexpected news. Shock and disbelief flickered across their faces before they were replaced by a myriad of other emotions: confusion, hurt, anger, betrayal.

Finn did not speak, his expression unreadable.

"Bell Cranel... What have you done?" Alicia asked in a tone of disbelief, staring at him accusingly.

"How could you do this?!" Tiona cried angrily, glaring at him.

"I can't believe it," Tione said, shaking her head in disbelief.

Riveria steeled herself, meeting their gazes evenly. "Don't take this out on him. Take it up with me. I must tell you more: Bell Cranel and I are married."

Silence settled over the campsite once more as Riveria's words sank in.

"Bell is not just the father of my child but also my husband," Riveria continued. "We kept our love secret from all of you because of fear. But now that Medusa has learned of this and has threatened to expose us, we no longer have a choice."

Riveria took a deep breath, steeling herself for the onslaught of questions and accusations that would surely follow.

"Married?" Lefiya repeated in disbelief. "To a human? It's... It's an outrage!"

"But the high elf and the white rabbit...?" Tione said, blinking rapidly, still processing the news. "For real?"

"That's right," Riveria confirmed. "The birth of our child will hopefully change the stuffy, insular worldview of the High Elves."

Lili's eyes widened in shock and horror. "H-How could you?! Marriage?! What about my Bell-sama?!" she asked accusingly.

"Lili, Riveria loves me very much, just as I love her," Bell replied. "And our marriage is not just for show."

"No! No, no, no! I've loved Bell-sama ever since he saved me! We're supposed to get married and have kids!" Lili whined.

"Sorry, Lili-chan..." Bell apologized.

"Can you really live with yourself for stealing him away from me?" Lili accused Riveria. "I mean, he's supposed to be mine!"

"I did not steal him from you," Riveria responded calmly. "He chose me, just as I chose him."

Lili scowled at her, her eyes filled with anger and resentment.

Riveria remained stoic despite Lili's outburst. "I understand how you feel," she said sympathetically. "But our feelings for each other are real. And I can't change that."

Lili huffed in indignation and stormed off, stomping away into the darkness of the Dungeon. Bell called out to her but received no response.

Finn sighed, shaking his head slowly. "This is not good."

"I'm sorry, Finn." Riveria hung her head in shame. "But I couldn't live with myself if I kept this hidden."

"I understand, Riveria. And I know you wouldn't have done this lightly." Finn replied. "But this is going to create many problems for both of you. And for Loki Familia."

Riveria nodded in understanding.

Tiona leaped to her feet, her expression a mixture of anger and disappointment. "How could you do this?" she demanded. "You knew this would cause trouble for all of us!"

Lefiya stood by her side, her eyes shining with tears as she gazed at Riveria accusingly.

Tione joined her sister, a fierce scowl on her face. "Yeah! This is ridiculous!"

Ais stood silently by their side, her expression carefully controlled but her eyes filled with anguish.

Riveria stared at them defiantly, her voice laced with anger and shame. "I'm sorry that you feel that way," she said coldly. "But I have made my choice."

"But, Riveria-san!" Lefiya protested, her eyes filling with tears. "This is a sacrilege!"

Riveria's resolve wavered at Lefiya's words, but she remained firm. "My relationship with Bell is not sacrilege," she insisted.

"Argonaut... you've broken my heart," Tiona murmured before turning away from him in disgust.

Ais walked up to Bell and Riveria, her eyes filled with sorrow and confusion. "Bell, why didn't you tell me?"

Bell averted his gaze, unable to meet her piercing gaze. "I'm sorry, Ais... I wanted to tell you, but..."

"You were too ashamed," Ais finished for him.

Bell nodded, his eyes downcast. "Yes. I didn't want you to think badly of me."

Ais shook her head slowly, her expression unreadable. "I don't know what to think," she admitted softly.

"Please, Ais! Don't go!" Bell begged desperately.

Ais didn't respond, turning away from him without another word. She walked away from the campsite, disappearing into the darkness of the Dungeon, her heart aching with each step.

Tiona followed after her, trailed by Tione.

The rest of Loki Familia watched in silence, their expressions a mixture of anger, disbelief, and disappointment.

Haruhime's eyes filled with tears of joy as she clasped her hands together. "Am I the only one who thinks this is wonderful news?" she asked, her voice wavering.

The rest of the group fell silent, struggling to reconcile their conflicting emotions. They looked from Riveria to Bell and back again, their expressions filled with uncertainty and disbelief.

"Bell Cranel is a disgrave!" One Loki Familia member exclaimed.

"Riveria is an adulteress!" Another Loki Familia member shouted in protest.

The rest of the group began to whisper among themselves, their voices laced with disapproval and disdain.

"Oh, grow up, all of you!" Aisha sneered, breaking the silence. "So what if they're having a baby? It's not the end of the world!"

"You don't understand!" Lefiya exclaimed angrily. "This is a terrible violation of our ancient traditions!"

"Fuck your ancient traditions!" Aisha scoffed. "Times are changing. Deal with it!"

Lefiya stared at her in horror. "How can you be so flippant about this?" she demanded incredulously. "This is an affront to everything we stand for as Elves!"

"Admit it. You wanted Bell Cranel for yourself, didn't you, Thousand?" Aisha pointed an accusing finger at Lefiya. "And you were furious that Riveria got to him first."

Lefiya spluttered incoherently, her face flushing red with indignation.

"I agree with the Amazon," Ryuu said, stepping forward with unwavering support for both Riveria and Bell. "Bell Cranel is a human worthy of the deepest respect, and we should support Riveria-sama unconditionally."

"Heh, didn't expect you of all people to agree with me," Aisha mused with a wry smile.

"We're all adults here," Ryuu replied coolly. "Let's act like it."

Lefiya and the other Elves scowled at her in response.

Welf stepped forward, placing a reassuring hand on Bell's shoulder. "Congratulations," he said sincerely, his voice warm and supportive.

Bete Loga rose, looking agitated as he always did.

"Tch! Better late than never, old hag. And congrats, rabbit. I guess." Bete hissed.

"Thanks, Bete," Bell replied quietly, feeling a small glimmer of hope amidst the chaos and turmoil surrounding them.

Finn took a deep breath and finally spoke up, his voice steady and measured. "This is certainly unexpected news," he began, his expression solemn. "But it is not the end of the world."

"Finn!" Lefiya protested, her eyes brimming with tears. "How can you say that? This is a serious matter!"

"Lefiya, please calm down," Finn said gently, his eyes filled with sympathy and understanding. "I know this is difficult for you to accept, but we must not allow ourselves to be overwhelmed by our emotions."

Lefiya reluctantly backed down, still fuming but no longer willing to argue her point.

"The bottom line is that Riveria and Bell Cranel have chosen each other," Finn continued. "And we must respect their decision—no matter how unconventional it may seem to us."

He turned to Riveria, his eyes filled with warmth and support. "I'm proud of you, Riveria. And I know that you and Bell will make this work—no matter what."

Riveria's eyes glistened with unshed tears as she struggled to contain her emotions. She looked at Finn, then at her companions, and back again, seeing a mix of both negative and positive reactions to the news.

"Thank you," Riveria said quietly but firmly, her voice thick with emotion. I appreciate your support more than you know."

Bete Loga crossed his arms defiantly, glaring at Riveria. "I still think it's gross," he grumbled. "But if you're happy, I guess that's all that matters."

Riveria smiled at him, grateful for his acceptance—albeit begrudgingly.

Gareth had finally arrived at the campsite, carrying a sack full of provisions and a bottle of wine. He set the sack down and looked around in confusion, noticing the tense atmosphere among the group.

"What's going on here?" he asked curiously. "Did I miss something?"

Finn motioned for him to approach, his expression serious but determined.

"Gareth, you're the only one who doesn't know yet," Finn said quietly, his eyes glittering with mischief. "But you might want to prepare yourself."

"?"

Finn nodded towards Riveria and Bell, who were standing side by side, their hands clasped tightly together. "Congratulations are in order," he added cryptically.

Gareth's eyes widened as he struggled to process Finn's words. "You're not saying..."

Riveria took a deep breath and looked at Bell, who offered a reassuring nod.

"Yes," she confirmed. "Bell and I are married."

Gareth stared at them in disbelief before his face split into a wide grin of pure joy. "Oh my gods! That's wonderful!" he exclaimed, rushing forward to embrace them both in a bear hug.

"And I'm pregnant, so don't suffocate me, you boorish dwarf!" Riveria grunted.

"Even better!" Gareth laughed heartily, releasing them from his bear hug and patting Bell on the back. "You finally did it! Congratulations, lad! This calls for a celebration!"

Ais burst back into the campsite, her expression wild and feral as she barrelled towards Bell. She stopped abruptly, her sword at the ready, its tip pressed against his chest.

Bell stumbled backward in surprise, his heart racing at the suddenness of Ais's attack.

"Ais! What are you doing?" he cried in shock and dismay.

Ais stared at him, her eyes filled with a mixture of sorrow and rage. "How could you?" she asked hoarsely. "After everything we've been through together... How could you betray me like this?"

"Ais! It's not like that!" Bell protested. "We never meant to hurt you!"

Ais shook her head slowly, her tears glistening in the flickering firelight. "I thought we were friends," she whispered brokenly. "I thought we were more than friends."

Bell hesitated, unsure how to respond to her words.

"Ais, please listen to me," Riveria interjected, stepping between them. "I never meant to hurt you either."

Ais glared at her, her eyes filled with pain and fury. "You took him from me," she hissed accusingly. "You stole him away! I'll never forgive you!"

Riveria met her gaze evenly. "I am sorry, Ais."

Ais tightened her grip on her sword, her knuckles white with tension.

"I'm not perfect," Riveria continued, her voice softening slightly. "And I've made mistakes."

"Then tell me why?" Ais demanded fiercely. "Why did you choose him?"

"Because I love him," Riveria replied simply but firmly. "Just as much as you do."

Ais staggered back, her eyes wide with shock and disbelief before her sword suddenly thrust towards Riveria's chest.

Bell's eyes widened in horror as he leaped forward, pushing Riveria out of the way just as Ais's blade plunged into his chest.

Bell groaned in pain as he looked down at the sword piercing his chest, blood spurting from the wound. He collapsed to his knees, his breaths ragged and labored.

"Bell! No!" Riveria cried, rushing to his side as he slumped against her.

Ais pulled her sword free and staggered backward in shock and horror at what she'd done. She dropped her weapon and stared at her bloodied hands, trembling uncontrollably.

"Bell! You're going to be okay! Just hold on!" Riveria pleaded, applying pressure to Bell's wound with trembling hands as blood pooled on the ground beneath them.

"No! This can't be happening!" Ais sobbed, sinking to the ground in despair. "What have I done?!"

Riveria was frantically using her healing magic on Bell while Welf was trying to stem the bleeding.

"I'm sorry, Riveria, I didn't mean to hurt him..." Ais whimpered. "Please... forgive me..."

Riveria ignored her pleas as she focused on trying to save Bell's life, the shock and despair clear on her face as she felt his pulse fading.

"No... Please don't die on me, Bell!" Riveria sobbed, desperately using her healing magic to try to save him. "Amid! Amid! Help! Help him! Help me!"

"Riveria! Hold on! Amid is on her way!" Welf yelled to Riveria as she clung to Bell's lifeless form, sobbing uncontrollably.

Lefiya was crying inconsolably beside them. "This is a nightmare! This is a nightmare!" she wailed.

Haruhime was crying, and she clung to Tiona, who was also crying and hugging Haruhime. "Argonaut-kun... Noooooooo!" Tiona wailed.

A distraught Ryuu joined Riveria in healing Bell, and together, they worked furiously to try to save his life.

"Please, Bell, don't leave me. Stay with me. Our baby needs you!" Riveria pleaded desperately. "Please stay with me! Please! I can't lose you now!"

"Damnit! You've got to pull through this, Bell!" Welf shouted urgently, tears streaming down his face as he applied pressure to his friend's wounds. "You can't die on us like this!"

Riveria cradled Bell's body against hers, sobbing uncontrollably as she tried to heal him. Ais knelt beside her, her face streaked with tears as she pleaded for forgiveness and begged Riveria not to hate her for what she'd done.

Amid rushed into the campsite and immediately began assessing Bell's condition. "Move aside," Amid commanded, kneeling beside the dying adventurer and taking over the healing magic.

Riveria didn't resist as Amid took over the healing and she let go of Bell as she no longer had the energy to cry out anymore. Her shoulders hunched forward as she sunk her face into her hands, trying to muffle her sobs as she sobbed in despair.

"Amid, is there anything we can do?" Finn asked solemnly as he approached them.

"I'll do everything in my power," Amid replied as she focused her magic on Bell.

Riveria looked up and stared at Ais in pure horror. "Ais! How could you?!" Riveria screamed in rage and despair. "You killed my husband! My baby's father!"

"I... I just... reacted... my body just moved on its own." Ais tried to explain.

"It's murder!" Riveria screamed in rage, her tears blurring her vision as she rose to her feet and lunged towards Ais with fury.

Finn and Welf stopped Riveria from attacking Ais.

"Riveria... please forgive Ais-san..." Bell said weakly. "I'm in no hurry to die..."

"Bell... stay with me... I love you... please stay with me...!" Riveria pleaded desperately as she reached out to stroke his cheek tenderly, tears streaming down her face.

"I... love... you too... Riveria... I don't want... to leave you... and our baby... behind... I can't..." Bell managed to say before he slumped against Riveria, his breathing shallow and ragged.

"No! Bell! Stay with me!" Riveria begged him desperately. "Don't leave me! Don't leave us!"

Bell's eyes fluttered open and closed as he struggled to stay conscious.

Bell and Riveria's whole world collapsed before them. Had Medusa beaten them?
