Months pass, and the empire settles into a new rhythm. With the immediate crisis behind them, Roxanne is finally able to return her full attention to the matters of ruling, rebuilding, and strengthening the territories now under her rule.
Reports arrive every morning, trade agreements require her approval, nobles request audiences, and new policies move between the capital and the outer territories. It's the ordinary work of an emperor, she had pushed it aside while the empire was dealing with war with the Calonian orcs, and Roxanne finds that she almost enjoys the return to it.
Gerhard is among the first to bring her good news. The taxation and integration plan for the Aerthysian settlers has been completed, allowing Elaris to become economically independent without placing an unreasonable burden on the refugees.
