Chapter 4 - Chapter 4 – Written Exams

Konoha, Year 32

Konoha Ninja Academy

(First Person POV)

I woke up to the warm morning sun filtering through my window, stretching lazily. 'Alright… yesterday's training was brutal. At least that bastard was kind enough to add a recovery feature to this system, else I might have ended up like that short, overworked, malnourished guy from another world.'

After a quick breakfast, I headed to the academy. On the way, I spotted Mikoto walking alone, humming softly. Her presence had a calming effect, as always. 'There's that gentle and caring Mikoto I know,' I thought, smiling.

She looked up, catching my gaze. "Ryo… about yesterday, I—" she hesitated, cheeks slightly pink. "I'm sorry for my attitude. I just… wanted you to focus on your training and schoolwork. I didn't mean to be harsh."

I chuckled softly, feeling warmth spread in my chest. 'Classic Mikoto. Gentle, caring… and somehow she still makes it feel like I'm being scolded while actually being encouraged.' "It's fine, Mikoto. I know you only want the best for everyone. Thanks."

We walked together to the academy, chatting lightly about classes and the upcoming exams. Choza and Shikaku trailed behind, arguing over whose lunch had more calories. The usual chaos, but somehow comforting.

Once in the classroom, everyone settled silently. The teacher handed out the written exam papers. I blinked at the top of mine:

Question 1: Calculate the optimal angle for throwing a kunai to hit a target 10 meters away if the wind is blowing east at 2 m/s.

Question 2: If a ninja eats 3 rice balls giving 600 calories and fights for 45 minutes burning 500 calories, how many more rice balls are needed to maintain stamina?

Question 3: Draw a diagram of the ideal shuriken spin for maximum velocity without injuring your own fingers.

'Oh wow… who even comes up with these questions? Not that it matters—let's see if I can answer this without exploding my brain.'

I focused, scribbling carefully. The room was silent except for the occasional sigh or pencil scratch. Every eye was on their paper; no one dared talk. Even Nawaki looked unusually serious, probably still sore from yesterday.

Time passed quickly, and soon the teacher was collecting the papers. A light tiredness settled over me, but I felt satisfied with my answers.

Walking out, I ran into a few classmates. Minato caught up to me first, his confident grin in place. "You surprised everyone yesterday. Keep it up. Maybe you'll make things interesting for the rest of us."

I chuckled. "Guess I decided to stop being average for once. Can't let your skills overshadow me every day."

Tsume Inuzuka smirked. "Finally seeing the cute guy actually try. Not bad"

I left school quickly, eager to finish today's training. The sun was still high as I started my 10 km run, making up for the distance from school to home. 'Let's push it. Today's task doesn't complete itself.'

After finishing the run, I knocked out 100 push-ups, 100 sit-ups, and 100 squats in record time. I collapsed to the ground after the last push-up, completely exhausted. Then, like clockwork, the system triggered the full recovery for task completion, and I felt every ache vanish.

Once fully recovered, I sat cross-legged, preparing for chakra extraction. 'Alright… let's see if those old rumors about chakra extraction draining your lifespan are true. Time for myth-busting.'

I focused, feeling the energy build inside me. Slowly, a strand of chakra was extracted. 'Hmm… that's it? No sudden pain, no life-stealing effects… just the usual hunger and slight fatigue. Looks like people in the original world exaggerated again.'

After completing today's chakra extraction, I checked my panel again:

I lay back on the grass outside my house, watching the sky turn orange with the evening sun.

With a final stretch, I got up, cleaned myself off, and headed inside. Soon, sleep overtook me, body and mind completely satisfied. Tomorrow would be another day of growth.
