Chapter 298 - chapter 97

Not long after, Hao Ran's smiled began to fade. His work had been progressing well and he could decipher some portions of the vampire's words.

"Dmitri…formation." His heart thumped.

Boom.

Boom.

Boom.

Sweat dropped down his forehead and dripped into the air, quickly dissipating in the heat born from the light being released by Lin Feng, Chen Ming and Wang Wei.

He opened his mouth. Vocal chords vibrated, but nothing could be heard.

***

"Unlock!" Dmitri opened his eyes and walked forward. He observed his hands, "Interesting."

In the overall battlefield a Reverse Formation had activated. It used deep underground stores of reverse crystals in a way to cause a few different affects within the fighting areas.

It affected both Yi Sect and the other major sects fighting against them. One positive, one negative.

Dmitri looked above him where the light which had been pouring out of the trio's bodies had become dark. The Laws had reversed and in turn, compatible with Dmitri's cultivation.

He held out his hand and the light which was meant to be an attack had turned to nutrition. The others had paused, trembling user the pressure of a high ranking vampire.

Though he was only a Baron, the lowest of nobles, with the formation active he could have power comparable to a Viscount or even Earl.

He flicked Lin Feng with his finger, instantly his exposed Spirit Stone Soul shattered and he died. He turned to Wang Wei…

***

Hamar grimaced, he had the power to help…but he couldn't. If he helped it would only harm the big plan, he understood this but it didn't mean it hurt any less.

Thoughts raced within his mind, searching for a way to use a minimal obstructive method to have the best outcome.

At the same time, all across the battlefield, Hamar had spread himself to help as many as he could. He was never just helping one person, he was a massive strategist, using the smallest of interventions to save the most people.

Already, a small causality profit had been made, but now…he could feel that such a strong attack would only mean even stronger causality to affect it.

***

Hao Ran was frozen, much like his peers or even more so, he was, after all, the weakest tof the group. Though that weakness was the very thing that would save him in this case.

Hamar chose him to be his conduit for change. He suddenly found himself able to move. His finger wiggled and he controlled his breathing, if he exposed it to Dmitri he would likely to have time to even finish a breath.

He didn't know why he could move. But he could, and he had critical info. He had deciphered the command Dmitri had used to activate the formation it could be sued by formation masters to help deduce a counter.

He watched the vampire slowly march towards Wang Wei. He put his hand on his comrades shoulder, then his chin, push up, bite. He sucked his blood and drained him until he barely lived and he fell to the ground.

Moving swiftly, he made his way to Chen Ming. He had not long before he was next.

Thoughts crashed and he tried to deduce a method to escape.

'what can I do?' he shouted silently towards himself.

Like a lightening bolt,

***

Hamar, or the part that paid attention to this small part of the battlefield, thought hard. It had already used it's causality to allow Hao Ran to move, only possible due to his already good knowledge of reverse crystals.

He knew what they were, how they worked and could simply deduce, with Hou's help, how the formation worked and find a small loophole.

"ah…that's how, I see." he stressed to his "main body" (he had not physically split his thoughts but metaphorically speaking) the importance of using causality for this.

He was granted a slither more, using it to send a thought into Hao Ran's head.

***

Like a lightning bolt, a thought came to Hao Ran. He smirked, 'it's crazy, but it might work. I don't know why I would think of this, oh boy…'

Hao Ran stood up, only to fall to one knee and bow his head. He took a deep breath, "GREAT MASTER! I HAVE BEEN SENT TO TELL YOU…"

Dmitri turned his head, "You." he let go of Chen Ming, "How can you move? I have frozen this whole room."

Hao Ran pretended to be out of breath, he could not seem unaffected…something seen as a threat.

"Gre-great master…it is" he breathed heavily, "it is Lord's plan, he sent me - sent me to be your informant." he looked up and opened his eyes, putting on the best performance he had ever done.

"Hmm, is that so…" Dmitri cautiously tried to look into Hao Ran's thoughts but fearing that it was real he refrained from forcing anything after it did not work.

'How convenient…to question the Lord though, he does have a short temper. But how else would he move, disrupt my thoughts reading at his level…' he fought his own suspicion with the absolute truth that he could not think of any way to explain what Hamar did, he accepted it.

***

Hao Ran's heart almost jumped out of his chest, an hour after he saw his fellow sect members perish with a single flick, he bowed the their killer and, without a lick of harm, flew out of the enemy's headquarters.

With the token acknowledgement of their killer, he flew continuously deeper into enemy territory, he had somehow become a double agent. After a while of flying he crashed to the ground with anxiety and held his heart.

He covered himself in a light shell, made of Light of Justice, which would protect him from any spying. He rummaged his pockets and pulled out a token.

"Lin Feng's Token…If it's broken I should be able to get a one-time communication with the grand formation directly." Be squeezed it tight, "My bluff worked, and even got him to hand his own downfall to me."

He held it to his heart and looked back, "I was supposed to die…" he thought back to the mysterious force allowing him to move, "I will take the chance and act as a double agent."

***

And that is how Hamar's actions affected this small group of Light Bringers. It was a few mere decisions but they had a great effect. The major sects gained a double agent with the knowledge of Yo Sect's Reversal Formation and even more he has get to gather.

Though…it was not a win, not entirely. War was brutal, and he could not save everyone. He had tried to save Lin Feng and the others…hear their stories but in the end…

In the end, they died; a small win for Yi Sect.
