The next few weeks passed by without incidents, Hamar explored the world travelling from city to city, town to town.
He would go to mortal towns and experience life, comprehend different laws. He would visit a dying man and comprehend more of the Death Dao. He would meet with a swordsman and explore what makes swordsmanship, swordsmanship.
He continued to refine his sword styles and the way he moved. Occasionally those towns would have qi masters and he would work with them to explore how to manipulate qi to a better degree. This in turn even helped his law and aura manipulation.
Then at other times, he would visit a city that had a cultivator. That was when he would do trades, removing excess laws from Hou's body and replacing them with a variety of laws.
He also gained spirit stones which he at times offered to qi masters and mortals alike, giving them the opportunity to cultivate laws.
Then after a few weeks he found another cultivator city. Not a town with a cultivator or two but a while city filled with cultivators.
"So this is Shang City..." Hamar stood at the edge of the city and looked as a steady stream of people filtered through the gates.
He squinted and clearly saw four different lanes, one for mortals, one for QI masters, one for cultivators and one for VIPs.
He stood there for a while deciding what to do. With his aura, he did not store laws on his self. All his laws were in Hou's body so others might not be able to detect them. He could disguise as a QI master or even a mortal.
He flickered between the different lanes until he finally decided to enter as a cultivator. He stood in line while waiting for his turn.
"Next!" It was Hamar's turn now.
He stepped forward and they asked, "Do you have an ID? If not, step aside and we'll ask for payment and make one." The guard waved to his right.
Hamar nodded and took some steps to his left, where the guard was pointing. Then another guard walked up, he had strong fluctuations of laws and Hamar could tell he was stronger.
"Name and purpose."
"Hamar, Information"
The man looked at Hamar up and down. "Information?"
Hamar didn't explain, he just pulled out a token he was given at one point. It had some writing on it, "Night Sky Information Broker Guild VIP"
The guard took a look and bowed lightly, "I apologise for not recognising you, I won't court death and ask for details."
He took out a blank jade token and engraved some characters on it, "VIP, Hamar". He held it out, "Please take it, sir"
Hamar took the token and walked into the city. At first he was amazed at the bustling nature of it, but as he acclimated to it, he saw the seedy nature below the surface.
He turned around, "Do you need anything?"
The strong guard, "Does sir need directions to the information brokers?"
Hamar shook his head and walked away. Even though he couldn't instantly find the brokers, he could find it himself, he didn't want to be watched.
As he was walking he felt a tug in his robe, "A letter?"
A letter from his master had appeared in his robe and awoken the Death Dragon which was sleeping in his robe. Ever since he had gotten the spirit stone and filled it with death laws, it had been sleeping and absorbing those laws diligently.
He would occasionally kill more monsters and animals to make sure those death laws were kept filled. Whenever he bad a breakthrough in comprehending death, the laws he would extract increased.
He stopped in his tracks and quickly looked around, noticing an influx of visitors into what seemed like an inn.
He walked down and stopped at the reception, "A room?"
The clerk looked up with a smile and said, "Identification please"
Hamar took out his jade token and placed it onto the table with a hard clack. She gasped and then bowed dewy, "Junior apologises for not recognised Senior!"
Hamar shook his head, "Lift yourself, I just require a room"
"Or course of course, for you we'll clear the best room!" She hurriedly jogged back and mobilised the entire staff to make sure the best room would be cleared.
She came back and hesitantly said, "P-payment please..."
Hamar nodded and said nothing for a moment. Then he reached I to his robe and pulled out a set off jade-like coins, quickly walking away after that.
He was ushered into his room and then sat on his bed. He burst out large amount of aura causing the air to fluctuate and then he settled it into a barrier. Now if any techniques were to try to infiltrate, they will get destroyed or at least detected.
"Luckily with the deal with Night Sky Information brokers, they gave me a rundown on currency."
He pulled out a few more of those coins, clacking them together, "Spirit coins, refined from Spirit Stones. Used as a universal currency."
He put them away to look at the letter which arrived, at the same time the death dragon snake plopped out and onto the floor.
He wasn't much larger, but his presence was stronger and a denser aura of death followed it. Hamar joked to himself, 'It seems the snake is growing into a real dragon now'
"Why are you awake?"
"I've consumed enough death laws to be fine for now...and that letter has something to do with me in it"
"How can you tell?"
"I just know it. My intuition is telling me."
Hamar shrugged it off and pulled out the letter. Starting to read it.
"Firstly, Hou's whereabouts...thanks for the hint with poison, do you have some of that poison, send it in the next letter...The aura research is progressing well...Rumours have spread outside the sect...aura might be exposed to the world soon enough...We've had a breakthrough in those dragons Hou had left you and Jin...a connection to a Dao...The theory states if you can comprehend that Dao...the dragon should be able to use abilities with it's link to the main Dao...and it needs feeding...your master, Mo Huai"
Hamar threw the letter down and sighed, "It does have something to do with you...but first"
He took out a piece of paper himself and began writing a response, making sure to add in a
The new information he has.
He told Mo Huai about his deal with Night Sky information brokers and how they are using their knowledge to find any possible clues to Hou.
Finally, be sealed the letter with a healthy amount of those poison laws. He undid the barrier of aura he placed around his room to stop spying and let the letter dissipate into pink miasma.
He turned back to the dragon on his floor after reapplying his aura barrier. "It seems you have something to tell me too...do you have any abilities now that you aren't starved?"
