Chapter 11 - contract

A crow landed on a building in one of the crowded streets of London.

Lucy thought, 'I bought that house. Now, it's a small shop in a shopping district. A lot has changed since the 90s.'

However, what bothered her more was the situation of the people and magic.

'How strange, there are a lot more people with magic in this future. Although the scent is different, I can tell it's something 'magical'. I have yet to meet a wizard or witch.'

The crow landed in a dark alley, and what came out of the Dark alley was a tall blonde woman in a black trench coat, with a beige shirt and dark jeans.

She entered a small, single-floor commercial shop squeezed among other similar shops in the district.

As the woman entered the shop, she was greeted, "Welcome, what-"

Lucy interrupted his greeting, saying, "I have no business with you or this establishment. I would like to meet the owner of this place and tell her that this place is originally mine and I will sue her if she doesn't give me an explanation."

She's surprised by the remodeling of her house by reading the businessman's memory. Even though this is a business place, this is just a single room. There is a whole house attached to this room, granted a small one, but it's such a convenient place.

Soon enough, the owner arrived because of the serious accusations. Lucy took her to a coffee shop nearby to chat.

"May I know you, Miss..?" Olivia, the owner of the place, asked, seeing the intimidating Lucy.

However, Olivia's presence perplexed Lucy to no end. In Olivia's memories, she lived in Lucy's house in the 90s with her family. And the building has not been remodeled since. It's been like that since the 90s, completely different than what Lucy remembered.

'Have I come to the wrong place? But my memory can't be wrong. Lay-outs have changed, sure, but the general directions are very clear. '

Although this is a concerning and confusing situation. Lucy decided to think about it for later. She improvised her plans.

"My apologies, my sister would like to buy your place to start her own business. I don't think you would come here if I said that. So, I had to lie. Before you refuse, she is willing to pay 700,000 pounds in liquid"

Olivia's eyes widened; she is in dire need of money. And a lump sum of 700k is a lot of money for her. Although the property is worth only 400,000. She can't get a buyer because it is in a shopping district. There is a lot of crowd there. So, only business personnel would want it, but even they would just rent it. Instead of buying it.

"Are you sure? I don't think my property is worth that much."

Olivia doesn't want to reveal its actual price, but she's also not sure why someone would buy it for way more than what it's worth, fearing she's being scammed. But there is small hope, what if it's true? She would miss a fortune.

"Money isn't a problem for us. Same spot, tomorrow, she will pay you cash first. Then, you can transfer the property in our name."

Olivia understood right then and there. She's in front of the real deal.

"Deal, but I would like to deposit the money in my bank account before transferring."

"Sure, we'll do it your way."

After the chat, Lucy once again went to a dark alley.

"I seem to have an affinity with dark alleys. All I'm missing are my parents and a thug with a gun to turn me into a superhero."

She joked as she transformed into a raven and flew into a street where multi-millionaires live.

She flew into one of the luxury mansions and slipped through a window by turning into a paper.

Sophia, a blonde young adult working late on her laptop, looked at the paper that landed near her leg and then fainted.

The paper transformed into Sophia's lookalike.

Lucy, now transformed into Sophia, tried to recreate her body with additional minor details like copying fingerprints and blood type.

'Oh, it seems I can even recreate organs, but it's useless for me anyway.'

She didn't bother to recreate organs. After transforming into Sophia, Lucy pondered seeing the body of the original Sophia.

"I wonder..."

A vertical slit appeared on Lucy's chest and a mouth opened up with a tongue in it, the giant tongue grabbed and devoured the original Sophia's body. When she absorbed her, Lucy's body swelled into a two-meter giant.

"Now that I think about it, I didn't eat, sleep, or drink water in the last two days, and the coffee is also just in my body even now. So, it seems I will just add 'mass' if I consume something. Hah~, Good news Sophia, I originally wanted to kill you but, I see no reason to do so now"

Lucy released Sophia, transformed into a hollow skin of Sophia, and absorbed the original Sophia while keeping her knocked out.

"If I get the reverse curse technique, I will destroy and restructure your brain to remove all the trauma. I will also return your identity when I figure out what's going on. I promise"

Lucy promised wholeheartedly. She knocked Sophia out by influencing her brain, this caused mental trauma as a side effect. The original Sophia cannot be a functional adult anymore, even if Lucy released her.

At that moment, to Lucy's surprise

[ Mission 1: Form a contract with a living being(completed)]

[Reward: 33% Assimilation.

Would you like to receive it?]

"Woah! This is a welcome surprise. So, a contract doesn't have to be something on paper. As long as there's intent of promise, it's a contract."

Lucy's original plan after reading Olivia's mind is to buy the house with a contract, completing first and second missions at a time.

But the situation changed. She accepted the reward.

Lucy felt Cursed energy, and additional information on Cursed energy reinforcement and barriers techniques.

But what caught her off guard is

"Wait...this smell"

Her senses picked up the familiar scent from the moment she entered civilization from the forest.

At that time, she chalked it up to modern-day magic being a little different and common.

Olivia's memories and cursed energy in everyone meant one thing...

"This is not the world of witchcraft and wizardry anymore, but the world of sorcery."

She opened her status window, and the [World] setting immediately made sense.

The new set of plans immediately emerged in Lucy's mind, but more importantly, one thought spun in her mind

"What's the point now?"

The next day, Olivia saw a different Blonde girl sitting on the meeting spot.

"Excuse me, are you...?" Olivia asked the Blonde girl.

"Right... I'm Sophia. And yes, I'm the one who is looking to buy the property. I'm sorry, can we make this transaction fast? Here's the check instead of cash due to a situation. "

Hearing Sophia's dull demeanour, Olivia's heart skipped a beat, fearing Sophia would lose her heart to buy the property.

Her eyes glossed over the check of 700k and relaxed a little bit. But seeing the Dull Sophia, she understood she must do everything fast before Sophia changed her mind.

And sure enough, in one day, the property is officially transferred to Sophia.

[Mission 2: Enforce a contract(completed)]

[Reward: 33% Assimilation.

Would you like to receive it?]

She didn't even bother to receive the reward this time.

Olivia explained the situation to the businessman and was about to ask him to evict, but Sophia stopped her.

"No need, just pay the rent to me from now on instead of her. You can stay"

"Miss Sophia? Don't you like the place?" Olivia asked.

"No, it's not that. It's just that I lost interest. Excuse me, but I have to go home now. "

Sophia went to her mansion. Sleeping on the bed, she pondered

"What now?"

"There's no point in existing... "

If it's her first time reincarnating in this world, perhaps she would be excited to meet the cast, her favourite characters.

But with her experience, she understood, these 'characters' are not 'characters' anymore, they are more than their plot, they have a life outside on their own.

Regardless of what she knows about a character, it's only relevant to the plot, and it's pointless in the long run because a plot only stays for a short time.

Beyond it, the rest of life is just living, facing new circumstances, and people change depending on that.

"Like Lily and James. Hah~, what now? Revenge was my goal, but those people are no more. Why was I chasing power anyway?"

"To get to Level 6? But why though? It will just get me answers on the system. It doesn't impact my life in any other way."

"Is it happiness? Or lack thereof? Right, I was chasing magic because it fascinated me."

She summoned the cursed energy from her body. She can detect that her cursed energy output is significantly higher than Reggie Star's. A blue aura formed around her.

[Mission 2: Enforce a contract(completed)]

[Reward: 33% Assimilation.

Would you like to receive it?]

Lucy accepted the second mission Reward. This time, she got Reggie Star's innate cursed technique, 'Contractual Re-creation'.

She printed out a few receipts online.

Lucy channeled the cursed energy into one of the receipts, burning it in the process.

In place of the receipt, a mass of electricity appeared. Lucy felt like she could command it, and so she did.

The electricity danced around for a while and vanished.

Lucy smiled a little. "This feeling is not bad, I understand how wizards and witches feel now."

Lucy created a talisman with some paper and channeled her cursed energy into it.

A twisted blob with wings dropped to the ground, and it struggled to fly initially, but it did eventually.

"Good, now go and find a cursed spirit for me."

The shikigami followed the command.

"This is what I wanted in that world."

Lucy sighed as she slept on the bed. Besides her, the printer is printing every unique receipt from the internet. Especially those with guns, all sorts of weapons, electricity, house, furniture, cooking, food, water, explosives, medical, ores, spas, resorts, training courses, etc.

Contractual re-creation is a technique that is especially powerful in the modern-day setting.

After collecting every type of receipt.

Lucy tried the reverse curse technique. As a monster, she has a higher grasp of cursed energy than Reggie Star. She instantly manipulated Cursed energy from her core and herself, creating positive energy. She can even output it herself.

After restoring Sophia to perfect health by destroying and regenerating the brain. Lucy left, transforming into a giant eagle.

Sophia woke up later that night feeling better than ever, even more surprised that she had slept for a whole 24 hours.
