Outside the Bellevue hospital, more wounded Midtown Manhattan men are rushed outside as Alexandria, Olivia and Cassandra are walking, watching the men being rushed in.
Cassandra: It's never going to stop, is it?
Alexandria: What?
Cassandra: This life.
Kyle, Jake, Sarah and Ashley arrive at the hospital, meeting Alexandria, Cassandra and Olivia.
Kyle: Oh, my god....when did this happen?
Cassandra: Two hours ago, and it's non-stop.
Sarah: What do we think it is?
Cassandra: With an attack like this, probably Kronos.....
Olivia: This isn't Zeus Corps. It can't be.
Cassandra: If they are, do you know what they're doing here now?
Olivia: How should I know?
Alexandria: Cassandra, Olivia's been with us for three years now, along with Mary and Charlie. She's pulled her weight and earned our trust.
Ashley: If it is, they're probably raiding for whatever's left ever since...well, since we took them out.
Jake: Kronos? Raids?
Kyle: Sounds like it would make better sense.
Cassandra: Hey.....If this was Kronos forces, then they're are getting thicker. Those men were guarding the fuel depot, weren't they?
Alexandria: Yeah, they were.
Cassandra: Mom, that's right outside the city.
Olivia: Exactly. They're getting deeper in.
A truck arrives as more Midtown Manhattan fighters depart.
Cassandra: At least we have more people.
Kyle: Yeah, but for how much longer is the question?
Kyle turns to Alexandria.
Kyle: Alexandria, I need you to look at most of our recent prisoners we have down in the prison.
Alexandria: Why?
Kyle: I need to know if any look like this woman.....
Kyle turns to Jake.
Kyle: Show her the picture.
Jake presents the photograph of himself and Keera to Alexandria.
Cassandra: Oh...pretty....who is she?
Jake: My wife....been missing for some time...
Alexandria: Well, we can do that....meanwhile, Kyle, you guys can help out here.
Kyle: We can do that, Alexandria.
Sarah: Well, I guess Cassandra and I better head down to prison...see if this woman is there.
Ashley: I can help too.
Sarah: Okay....
Jake: Thanks, guys...I-good luck, all right?
Suddenly, a young man with his bag and rifle join calls out and approaches the group.
Cameron: Kyle Desipich! You're Kyle Desipich? Sigma Squad?
Cameron drops his rifle near his foot but struggles to pick it up.
Cameron: Uh...I'm your new assigned trainee.
Kyle turns to Alexandria.
Kyle: "Trainee"?
Alexandria: Well, the kid wanted to meet Kyle Desipich in person.
Sarah: And he's as blue as the sky by the looks of it.....
Alexandria: Do you have time to train him?
Kyle scoffs.
Kyle: Yeah, whoopty fuckin doo.
Alexandria: Hey, be nice, Kyle....take it easy on the kid.
Alexandria, Olivia and Cassandra walk off.
Sarah laughs.
Sarah: Go easy on the kid, okay? It's his first day.
Sarah walks away, before Kyle speaks to Jake.
Kyle: You want to help me train this kid really quick?
Jake: Sure....think she can find Keera?
Kyle: Hey, don't underestimate my wife or her sister....
Jake: Her sister's just a kid.
Kyle: She's a smart kid.
Jake: Still a kid.
Cameron approaches the two before saluting.
Cameron: Cameron Aires, sir! Reporting for duty, sir! Ready to kill at your command, sir!
Kyle: Stop with that "sir" crap, boy. We're survivors, not the goddamned military. Grab your shit and follow us....oh, and welcome to Sigma.
Cameron grabs his bag and rifle, before following Kyle and Jake. Around parking garage buildings of Midtown Manhattan, Cameron drops his bag, before he grabs his Zeus Corps Assault rifle. Kyle and Jake are seen armed with Zeus Corps Assault Rifles as well.
Cameron: It's an honor to serve by your side, sir....I heard you're the one who-
Kyle: Kid, quit callin me, sir! I'm not that old. You can call me Kyle or Desipich.
Cameron: Yes, sir!...Uh...I mean Kyle...Mr. Kyle.
Kyle: Just "Kyle", man.
Cameron: Okay...Kyle...
Cameron turns to Jake.
Cameron: It must be good to know you're fighting with the hero of the North Wastelands.
Jake: He's just my little brother to me, dude....Name's Jake by the way.
Jake performs a fist bump with Cameron.
Cameron: Nice to meet you...uh...Jake...you a war soldier too?
Jake: Yep...six years.
Cameron: Nice...you kill any monsters out there?
Kyle: Hey, rookie...we can talk about our history later. I need you to focus on training now.....The last thing we need is for you to get all holy from the bible on the field.
Cameron: Sorry?
Jake: "Hole-y" "Hole-y"
Cameron: Oh, full of holes from getting shot....I-I get it...See...I'm...I'm kind of on the spectrum...I have autism....I learn well...but I just don't get jokes too well...like I didn't get your...uh...your "hole-y" joke.
Kyle: Good to know....First things first, rookie. Stay focused on your objective. Best thing to do before the bullets fly out there is make a list of supplies you'll need on a run.
Kyle pulls out a notepad from his back pocket.
Kyle: For example, my objective for today is....
Secretly, Kyle is looking at a shopping list of groceries, which Jake is looking at also, before he snickers and speaks quietly.
Jake: Cheese and gram crackers.
Kyle elbows Jake lightly.
Kyle: Teach the rookie the rule of the wasteland.
Cameron: Oh, I know that rule; "always be cautious of who approaches as-"
Kyle: Not that rule. The Golden Rule.
Cameron: The Golden Rule? What's the Golden Rule?
Jake: Kill or be killed.
Kyle, Jake and Cameron walk into the field where bottles are laid out.
Kyle: Shooting a gun is not like riding a bike. You have to respect the weapon. Aim at what you want to kill. Aim like you mean it. That right there is a 2011 Zeus Corps Assault Rifle....you had any training with a gun before?
Cameron: Uh...with a BB...
Kyle: Well, that ain't no BB and it'll kick back a hell of a lot more than a BB....
Jake: watch me.
Jake shoots his assault rifle, putting bullet holes into the side of the car.
Cameron: Damn!
Kyle: Your turn, rookie.
Cameron: Okay....head down....check your surroundings...aim.....take steady breathes...squeeze...don't pull the trigger.
Cameron aims his assault rifle at a bottle and shoots, hitting two bottles.
Jake: holy shit.
Kyle: I'll be goddamned. You know what you're shooting, rookie. Where'd you learn how to shoot?
Cameron: My brother taught me before he died. Shooting bottles reminds me of being a kid.
Jake: Yeah, enjoy those moments while you can.
Kyle, Jake and Cameron walk out further into the field, where suddenly a creature scurries by on the other side of the fence.
Cameron: What the hell was that?
Kyle: Relax. It's probably just a stray dog. There's plenty of those out here.
Cameron: No. It was bigger than a dog. It looked like a humanoid monkey-looking thing.
Jake notices a Skinner in a building staring at the three though a window.
Jake: Up there! Skinner!
Kyle shoots at the Skinner as it runs off.
Cameron: Hey! That's the humanoid monkey looking thing I saw!
Jake: You hit him?
Kyle: Damn it! No. Looks like he got away.
Cameron: You ever seen that thing before?
Kyle: Yeah.....but something like that...usually travels in packs.....which means there's more in the area....We cleaned it up last time.
Kyle, Jake and Cameron cautiously search the area, before reaching a gated section, where the three find grenades.
Jake: Man, someone did not do a good job doing an ammo sweep.
Kyle: Thought I told Mitchell to always clean up after training those kids here....This'll come in handy though. You know how to use these, kid?
Cameron: A grenade? Sure. You just pull the pin and toss it.
Jake: Just make sure the explosion's not near you. You'll lose a limb if you survive.
Kyle, Jake and Cameron pick up the grenades as Cameron inspects them, noticing a Zeus Corps label on them.
Cameron: Zeus Corps? You know I thought about joining them....well, that was before I came to Midtown Manhattan. I mean, I'm glad I didn't....otherwise, I'd be dead....or maybe, joined you guys.
Kyle: Trust me, kid...you'll be glad you didn't...
Jake spots the Skinner in a parking lot building.
Jake: Guys! That thing is back!
Kyle: Hey, what'd you call that thing? a humanoid monkey? I got a banana it won't resist.
Kyle takes the pin of the grenade.
Kyle: Fetch!
Kyle tosses the grenade into the building as the creature examines the grenade, before it explodes, killing it.
Cameron: Whoa! Awesome!
Another Skinner scurries by the gate.
Cameron: Hey! There's another one!
Cameron pulls the pin to a grenade and tosses it, but the grenade bounces off the wall and lands near the gate.
Cameron: Uh-oh.
Jake: Not good.
Kyle: Get down!
The grenade explodes, knocking down all three survivors. Kyle, Jake and Cameron recover with Jake tending to an injury.
Jake: Shit.
Kyle: Jake, you want to get that looked at?
Jake: Nah...just needs a few stitches. It can wait.
Kyle walks over to Cameron with an annoyed look.
Kyle: You do that shit again and you're going to get an unexpected blade in your ass training.
Cameron: My bad....sir...I mean Kyle!
Kyle, Jake and Cameron head into the parking lot building, where they spot an advanced vehicles called Junkies and trucks passing through the highway.
Jake: Almost looks kind nice up here. People. City. Reminds us of peace.
Kyle: Barely.
Kyle, Jake and Cameron search the wreckage of the grenade explosion.
Cameron: Damn. Did all this come from your grenade?
Kyle: Sure as fuck didn't come from yours. That's for damn sure.
A few rats scurry around Kyle, Jake and Cameron.
Kyle: Well, it's just some rats....ugh...
Kyle shutters.
Jake: Bro, you still scared of rats?
Kyle: I'm not scared, man...it's just...little creepy bastards with fur carrying rabies crawling around your feet just give me the heeby jeebies.
Cameron: Uh....I have a fear of cats...Their claws and teeth.
Jake: You're fuckin jokin, right?
Kyle, Jake and Cameron head back to the hospital, before another tremor shakes the whole city.
Cameron: Whoa! Hey! Those buses are in a hurry!
In the distance, Midtown Manhattan Survivors in armored buses drive towards the Hospital.
Jake: Shit! That came from the hospital.
Kyle: looks like training's over.....Cameron, head back to the drop off...you stay there til I call you on your radio.
Cameron: But, Kyle...I can help you...I just-
Kyle: That's not a suggestion, rookie! It's an order!
Kyle turns to Jake.
Kyle: Jake, let's move.
Kyle and Jake head towards the Bellevue hospital.
