"Sakazuki, you have the determination to implement justice, which really makes me very happy, but the danger level of the New World is far beyond your imagination," Kong sighed. He took Akainu very seriously; after all, the man had become a colonel at a very young age, captured many vicious pirates in the Grand Line, and made firm contributions to the Marines, all while carrying the name of justice deep in his heart. This kind of character was admired not only by Kong but also by the senior management of the entire Naval Headquarters. At the same time, however, Kong couldn't help but worry about Akainu's extreme personality.
"Ah la la, does that mean no matter how much we request today, we still can't go to the New World?" Aokiji scratched his head. "Yes," Kong nodded. Hearing this, Akainu, Kizaru, and Aokiji glanced at each other, then prepared to leave. Kong had made it clear they would not be sent to the New World, so staying was pointless.
Just then, hurried footsteps echoed outside the corridorātake tread treadāand several Marine executives rushed to the door of Kong's office. "You guys, what are you doing in such a hurry?" Kong asked with a frown. "Steel Marshal Kong, there is news from the World Government," one reported anxiously. "Ayr, the strongest pirate in the New World, and Edward Newgate, the captain of the Whitebeard Pirates, have invaded the Holy Land Mariejois."
Kong's pupils shrank. Ayr had been focused on commission-based operations in the New World and hadn't shown much movement in recent years, while Whitebeard had made major moves across the sea before things calmed down. Now both were invading the Holy Land? Akainu frowned deeply, recalling how often he had heard Ayr's name despite never setting foot in the New World. Ayr was officially recognized by the World Government as the strongest pirate there. Kizaru thought seriously about how unpredictable both men were, while Aokiji admitted they couldn't possibly figure out what New World pirates were thinking. Though he had never met them, their reputations were well known, yet the Holy Land was heavily protectedāso why invade?
After a moment of silence, Kong asked the Marine executive if the information was confirmed. When the man nodded, Kong demanded to know their purpose. The officer shook his head, but Kong insisted they wouldn't risk such an assault without a reason. The last time Ayr and his group had invaded, it was to obtain the eternal pointer to the Valley of the Gods, and they had even clashed directly with the Five Elders. Back then, they had learned firsthand how terrifying the Five Elders were. Now, knowing the dangers and the Holy Land's heavy defenses, Ayr teaming up with Whitebeard again must mean they had a solid strategy.
With resolve in his eyes, Kong declared he would go to the Holy Land Mariejois. Although Garp, Sengoku, Zephyr, and Tsuru were already present there, he still felt uneasy. Ayr was too much of a threat, and Kong sensed a deeper plan at work. "Marshal Kong, we want to go too," Akainu said. "Why?" Kong glanced at him. Aokiji replied, "We can't go to the New World, but at least we want to see the top pirates from there." Kizaru added lazily, "Let us just go along and observe, Marshal Kong. You can't deny us that." After a moment's thought, Kong agreed but warned them not to approach Ayr or Edward. In earlier days, Garp, Sengoku, Zephyr, and Tsuru had been sent to the New World as colonels to observe the Rocks Pirates, but Akainu, Kizaru, and Aokiji had never been there. Kong decided it was time they experienced it. The three nodded in unison.
On the battlefield, Ayr was using Shinra Tensei and BanshÅ Ten'in repeatedly, controlling the flow of battle and keeping pressure on two of the Five Elders. Although confident in his strength, he knew going one versus two was risky, so he used his abilities to avoid prolonged direct confrontation. The Five Elders' seamless cooperation, however, gradually wore away his advantage; at first, he had managed to isolate one, but as the battle continued, he lost the chance for a one-on-one. Each exchange now had him fending off attacks from both simultaneously.
"Ayr, can you block this punch?" the blond elder taunted before lunging forward with a heavy strike that smashed into Ayr head-on. His body flew back at extreme speed, tumbling through the air for a hundred meters before he stabilized. As expected, with two Lords of the Five Elders working together, Ayr could barely keep upāresisting, but not overpowering them. Kizaru recalled there was a time limit to Ayr's strength-enhancing ability, and if he failed to end the battle before it expired, he wouldn't survive this clash in the Holy Land Mariejois.
