Miri's Pov
I sat between their beds, elbows on my knees, fingers tangled in my own hair, trying not to think about the stillness.
Riven and Caius lay side by side, their bodies looking deceptively peaceful. Neither of them stirred. The only sign they were alive was the steady rise and fall of their chests, the occasional twitch of a hand or eyebrow that probably meant nothing.
If I hadn't already been told by the coven that the haze blocking Caius' mind was gone, I might have been climbing the walls. They'd said Riven had succeeded—he'd gotten through to him—but what if they just… didn't wake up?
That thought gnawed at me more than I wanted to admit.
