Cassandra stepped in, holding a teacup, her golden hair gently curled and cheeks flushed with color. She blinked, noticing the tension in the room.
"…Did I interrupt something?"
Noah turned red instantly.
Charles straightened up like a soldier caught slacking. "No, we were just… debating important matters."
Edward leaned back, whispering, "You mean screaming like kids."
Cassandra looked at Noah, then at Charles. Her eyes narrowed slightly.
"Were you yelling… because of me?"
Noah opened his mouth to speak, but Charles cut in. "Noah said he likes you. And I said no. Simple."
Cassandra stood there frozen, teacup trembling in her hands. "You… you said what?"
Noah stepped forward, cheeks burning. "I said I like you, Cassandra. I do."
Silence.
Cassandra's lips parted in surprise. Her gaze flickered to Charles, who looked like he was about to explode again, then back to Noah.
She set the teacup on the nearby table with a soft clink, then took a deep breath.
