"Hiss… That hurts."
As Smoker regained consciousness, he rubbed his bruised face. He vaguely remembered a dream… a dream in which a woman beat him to a pulp.
At that moment, a kindhearted little girl walked up to him with concern. "Mr. Navy Officer, do you need to see a doctor?"
Still dazed and confused, Smoker stared at her. The girl then handed him a mirror. "Here, see for yourself."
When Smoker angled the mirror toward his face...
"Who the hell is this pig-faced guy?!"
An unprecedented wave of rage and humiliation surged through Smoker. He suddenly recalled something Su Xiaoqi had once told him:
"Don't be fooled by her harmless looks—she's one of the most ruthless pirates out there."
"Nami of the Yorozuya Pirates—I won't let you get away with this!"
Gritting his teeth, Smoker limped toward the nearest Marine base, determined to report the Yorozuya Pirates to Marine Headquarters and demand an official bounty.
Meanwhile, the mastermind behind all of this—Nami—was currently "welcoming" the newly recruited Tashigi.
"Now that you've joined us, you'll have to completely cut ties with the Marines. Don't even think about escaping—I hate being abandoned. Got it?"
All Tashigi could do was nod obediently. The image of Nami's earlier rampage was still vivid in her mind.
Satisfied, Nami smiled. "Relax. I'm actually easy to get along with. Since you're Zoro's long-lost twin sister, he'll be responsible for looking after you."
Tashigi wanted to protest that she wasn't anyone's twin, but the moment she glanced at Zoro's intimidating expression, she gave up and nodded again. Compared to Nami, the green-haired swordsman seemed much easier to deal with.
Lu Linglong, watching Nami with a calculating glint in her eyes, confirmed her earlier suspicions. She immediately opened the chat group and messaged Su Xiaoqi.
[Private Chat – Lu Linglong]: Did you mess with Nami again?
[Su Xiaoqi]: Mess with Nami? I have no idea what you're talking about.
[Lu Linglong]: We just ran into Smoker. Guess who he went after?
[Su Xiaoqi]: How would I know? Anyway, I'm busy now. Gotta go.
[Lu Linglong]: That so? Then I'll go have a heart-to-heart with Nami. Maybe tell her some of my theories...
[Su Xiaoqi]: Alright, alright—you win. What do you want?
[Lu Linglong]: Tell me your plan. If it's fun enough, I want in.
[Su Xiaoqi]: Isn't Nami your good friend? Aren't you ashamed of yourself?
[Lu Linglong]: Then I guess I'll just go spill everything to her now.
[Su Xiaoqi]: Fine! You win again. I'll tell you—but you have to swear not to tell Nami. If you do, I won't help you win the Spirit Tournament anymore.
[Lu Linglong]: Deal, deal! Hurry up and spill—I'm dying of curiosity!
Back in Rapeseed Town, Nami's crew had no luck finding Ace. After a quick discussion, they decided to wait one more day. If Ace still didn't show up, they'd move on to their next destination: Rainbase.
Elsewhere, Su Xiaoqi filled Zhu Zhuqing and Vivi in on Lu Linglong wanting to join their side. Both girls were surprised—and quietly worried for Nami. They could only hope she wouldn't completely break down in the end.
Two days later, Lu Linglong arrived with two new faces: Kaito Kuroba and Kurumi Tokisaki.
Kurumi was only able to join the One Piece world thanks to Lu Linglong's personal guarantee, which was enough to convince Nami to allow her in.
After a brief introduction between Vivi and the newcomers, Su Xiaoqi turned to Lu Linglong. "Linglong, you guys didn't raise any suspicion when you left, right?"
She smiled. "Relax. I made up a perfect excuse. The 'enemy' suspects nothing."
Everyone nearby twitched at her casual use of the word enemy. She was getting into character faster than even Su Xiaoqi.
Satisfied, Su Xiaoqi turned to Kaito. "Do you have everything ready?"
Kaito patted the backpack slung over his shoulder. "All set."
Su Xiaoqi handed out scripts to everyone. "Let's start rehearsing. Memorize your lines. I saw several Baroque Works agents in town today, so they're likely making their move soon."
As everyone got to work, Kurumi turned to Su Xiaoqi with a mischievous smile. "Ara, everyone else has a job to do—what about me?"
"Yours is an important task," Su Xiaoqi replied. "You'll be protecting Kaito and Vivi. Anyone who tries to harm them—deal with them however you like. I've already cleared it with Vivi."
He looked her over as he spoke. No wonder she had such overwhelming popularity—her blend of cuteness and dark charm was absolutely captivating.
Kurumi smiled sweetly and handed him a delicately wrapped box. "A gift. A special-edition figure of yours truly. I promise, the feel of this one is much better than the ones you've pulled from gacha before."
"Gulp…"
Su Xiaoqi was tempted. Zhu Zhuqing had confiscated all his previous Kurumi figures. Not that he had any weird motives—he just liked to admire the craftsmanship.
After a quick glance to ensure no one was watching, he discreetly stored the box in his spatial ring, then asked (pretending to be casual), "So, Kurumi, what's the situation in your world?"
Kurumi answered, "Mostly the same as Date A Live. Except for one thing—there's no Itsuka Shido. Instead, there's a girl named Itsuka Kotori."
"…What?"
Su Xiaoqi nearly yelped aloud. Kotori Itsuka?! What kind of plot twist was that?!
But after a moment, he understood. This Kurumi must be from a parallel universe. Which meant…
Su Xiaoqi, burning with curiosity, looked at her seriously. "Kurumi, I have a very important question…"
"…Are you a lesbian?"
He couldn't help it. In the original work, the "spirit-sealing" process involved mouth-to-mouth kissing. So if both participants were girls, then, well…
Kurumi blinked, then leaned in close, smiling slyly. "Ara~ You're curious if I'm a lesbian? Want to find out for yourself?"
Just then, Lu Linglong's voice cut in from behind.
"Su Xiaoqi, can we skip this line? It's way too embarrassing."
"I'll go check on her. You hang out here for a bit," Su Xiaoqi said hastily, fleeing the scene in a flustered panic. He knew Kurumi was just teasing him—but it was still too much.
Kurumi giggled, watching him retreat. "What a fun guy. Next time, let's prank him instead."
Su Xiaoqi reached Lu Linglong and looked over the line she mentioned. With dramatic seriousness, he declared:
"Linglong, that line is the heart and soul of the entire act. It must stay. If you're embarrassed, just wear a mask—but you'll miss half the fun."
Lu Linglong squinted at him. "You're not secretly roping me into this too, are you?"
Su Xiaoqi rolled his eyes. "Why would I do that? My character has a whole cringey monologue too, y'know."
"…You're right." Lu Linglong checked his script and nodded. Still a bit wary, she warned him, "If you do screw me over, I'll out you to everyone. And I'll never team up with you again."
"Relax! This time, I'm only messing with Nami."
Just as Su Xiaoqi finally convinced her, Chopper called out, "Su Xiaoqi! Why do I have so few lines? I want more screentime!"
It was a hectic day for Su Xiaoqi, playing the role of director. He had to walk everyone through their parts, prepare for unexpected situations, and adjust the script on the fly.
But to him, all of it was worth it.
He was determined to give Nami a memory she'd never forget.
