"Hahaha!"
Flying high in the sky, Su Xiaoqi was laughing so hard he was nearly doubled over. He could hardly wait to see what would unfold when Smoker ran into the others—things were bound to get entertaining.
Zhu Zhuqing, watching her boyfriend gloat so shamelessly, asked curiously, "Alright, spill it—what wicked stuff have you been up to this time? And what's the real story with Tashigi?"
"Eh?"
Vivi and Chopper, startled by her question, exchanged glances. Was there really more going on than they thought?
Su Xiaoqi grinned. "No rush. Once we get to the next city, I'll explain everything in detail."
In the city of Yuba, Alabasta — inside a certain inn...
After listening to Su Xiaoqi recount his recent escapades, Vivi and Chopper's faces were a riot of expressions. Zhu Zhuqing pinched him hard and scolded, "Seriously, what kind of grudge do you have with Nami? Was this really necessary?"
"Of course it was. If I don't give her a little payback this time, I won't be able to sleep at night," Su Xiaoqi growled, still holding a grudge from that humiliating night—the darkest mark on his record.
"Vivi, this plan is only halfway done. The next half depends on your help. Will you do it?" he asked, locking eyes with her.
Faced with Su Xiaoqi's gaze, Vivi found it hard to say no. Still, Nami was her dear friend—she felt she had to at least try to reason. "So what exactly do you want me to do?"
"Nami, you and Su Xiaoqi can keep in touch through the chat group. But I'm not like that—so please allow me to be a little selfish just this once."
After rationalizing her decision to herself, Vivi leaned in to hear the rest of Su Xiaoqi's plan.
Ten minutes later, Vivi, Zhu Zhuqing, and Chopper all sat there with jaws hanging open. They hadn't expected Su Xiaoqi's plan to be that ruthless. Poor Nami!
"Um… Is it too late for me to back out now?" Vivi asked nervously, sweating bullets. If Nami found out what role she played in this scheme, their friendship might not survive it.
"Vivi, I know what you're worried about," Su Xiaoqi said smoothly. "Don't worry—if Nami ever comes after you, I'll take full responsibility. And besides, this is way more fun than your little spy games at Baroque Works, isn't it?"
Vivi looked at him. "You'll really take responsibility for me?"
"Of course," Su Xiaoqi nodded solemnly.
Vivi's face turned red, and she looked down, mumbling, "Then… I'll do whatever you say."
Zhu Zhuqing, watching the exchange, was speechless. Are you two even having the same conversation right now...?
She'd already noticed Vivi stealing glances at Su Xiaoqi earlier. At first, she found it odd—now it made perfect sense. The princess clearly had a thing for her man.
Zhu Zhuqing wasn't one to interfere in Su Xiaoqi's personal life. She knew he had enough self-control not to mess around. Back in the Douluo Continent, he could have easily gotten together with Ning Rongrong or Meng Yiran—those two couldn't have been more obvious. You'd have to be blind not to notice.
Now that Vivi had fully committed, she even offered some suggestions to improve Su Xiaoqi's plan. Since they were already playing dirty, they might as well go all in—especially with Su Xiaoqi taking "responsibility."
Su Xiaoqi looked at her with new appreciation. No wonder she survived undercover at Baroque Works for two and a half years. The girl's got talent.
Zhu Zhuqing sighed quietly to herself. At this rate, the princess was bound to be completely led astray.
Chopper, meanwhile, was trembling where he stood. In his mind, he could already imagine the hellstorm that was about to erupt when Nami found out.
Elsewhere, things were getting lively with Nami's group too.
Not long after Su Xiaoqi left, Tashigi regained consciousness. To prevent her from escaping, Nami—after getting Zoro's permission—had her tied up. How to convince her? Well, if words didn't work, they could always follow Su Xiaoqi's advice and... seduce her.
Meanwhile, Sanji and Sakata Gintoki had resumed their usual bickering now that their shared enemy, Su Xiaoqi, was gone. Both were eager to show off in front of the girls, which meant their temporary alliance had completely collapsed.
An irritable Nami occasionally punched the two of them just to vent her frustrations.
Lu Linglong and Kaya chatted quietly along the way, while Luffy and Usopp were on the lookout for Ace.
But instead of finding Ace, they managed to attract someone else—Smoker.
And the moment Smoker laid eyes on Nami… Su Xiaoqi's anticipated moment arrived.
Smoker didn't even glance at Luffy. Instead, his gaze went straight to Nami and the white-haired, dead-eyed man with a wooden sword labeled "Lake Toya" at his waist.
"So the Straw Hat Pirates really are close with the Yorozuya Pirates. Looks like the alliance is real."
Sakata Gintoki, feeling uncomfortable under the intense stare, snapped, "Hey, Smoke Guy, why are you staring at Silver-san like that? I'm not into greasy old men, alright?"
Ignoring the insult, Smoker asked flatly, "You're Sakata Gintoki from the Yorozuya?"
Gintoki blinked. "That's right. But if you're here for an autograph, you're out of luck."
Then Smoker turned to Nami. "And you must be Nami?"
Nami frowned. Something about his questions felt off. She didn't respond.
Smoker continued, "Did you kill that Marine captain from the East Blue—Captain Nezumi?"
So that's what this is about. Nami cursed Su Xiaoqi silently in her mind, then replied coolly, "I don't know anything about some 'Captain Nezumi.'"
Smoker took a long drag from his cigar. "Release Tashigi. You and that man come with me to Navy HQ for questioning. Refuse, and I'll haul everyone here back by force."
"Arrest me?" Nami scoffed. "I'm in a bad mood today. You'd better not mess with me."
Sakata Gintoki stepped forward. "Nami-chan, let Silver-san teach this guy a lesson!"
But all he got in return was Nami's iron fist. WHAM! "Can you use Armament Haki? Can you even hit him?"
"Violent. No hesitation to hit her own people." Smoker mentally slapped another label on her.
"In that case," he said coldly, "I'll take you in myself. I won't go easy on you just because you're a woman."
Smoker launched his attack in typical fashion, turning his body into smoke and flying toward Nami.
Nami stopped the others from interfering. "Stay out of this. I need to blow off some steam."
As Smoker rapidly closed in, Nami formed three simple hand signs and shouted, "Water Style: Water Dragon Bullet!"¹
**"Damn it—she's a Water-Style Devil Fruit user?!"**¹
Caught off-guard by the sudden water dragon, Smoker didn't have time to dodge. He took the full force of the blast and was sent crashing to the ground, soaked to the bone.
"That's it?" Nami sneered, walking over. She slowly pulled out a coin, struck a signature pose just like Misaka Mikoto, and flicked it with force.
"So strong."
"Terrifying."
"Can't afford to mess with her."
"Nami-chan is the best."
That was the collective thought running through everyone's heads.
Just when they thought it was over and Smoker had been defeated, Nami walked up to his battered form, clenched her fist, and—
"That's for choosing Vivi!"
"That's for leaving me behind!"
"Screw you, Su Xiaoqi, you bastard!"
Watching her commanding officer being turned into a punching bag, Tashigi struggled free from Zoro's grip and cried, "Please! Stop hitting him! If you let him go, I'll join your crew!"
At that, Nami finally stopped, turned to the others, and gave them a sweet smile. "Everyone, you didn't see anything just now… right?"
"Nope! We didn't see a thing!"
Everyone present frantically shook their heads in unison.
