Chapter 19 - The Golden Swordsman

"Tch, what a bore." Charles said in a voice that had a hint of disappointment mixed in it.

Teke had passed out due to fear. His brain couldn't process the fact that he was so overwhelmingly overpowered by a kid two years younger than him. Charles automatically won the match.

There was shock on everyone's faces, the entire atmosphere went silent, no single noise, no cheer, everybody's eyes were widened at the surprising event they had encountered, Charles overpowering Teke with what seemed to be only a fraction of his power. He didn't even use magic or flames, just pure physical stats.

"He.... He's just like THAT Flameworth, The abandoned one." James said as he recollected himself and regained his composure, folding his arms and looking down on the Place where the fight had just taken place with cold eyes.

'he could quite possibly hold his own in a fight with me, how amusing, he's only four years old they say?' James thought as an uncommon, ugly grin appeared on his face.

"I knew it!!" Perry said in a loud voice, his voice echoed in the silence of the field.

Everybody present turned to look at perry, the mad man who dared to shout in this sanctified moment.

"Haha!!! I knew you were a true man!!"

James sighed, he knew that whenever Perry got like this, there was no stopping him.

"I'm out." James walked out, he had seen what he came to see, he had fulfilled his objective and analyzed his competition for the head of the Flameworth's.

~Thud!!

Dust filled the air, trying to escape from him and the ground shook as the bear like Perry landed on the ground, jumping from high up where he observed.

"Charles Flameworth! I have seen that you are a true man and have deemed you worthy!!" Perry roared.

The spectators watched silently, trying to see if they would get another match, between a fifteen years old six foot giant and a child of about four years, as small as children his age ought to be.

"Fight me!" Perry roared finally, pointing his finger at Charles who stood looking at him with an unreadable expression on his face.

'This monster? No thanks, that's enough fighting for me today.' Charles thought as he narrowed his eyes, looking up, directly at Perry's eyes, watching him grin like a mad pervert.

'How can I even intimidate someone as huge as him? I'll just leave. He can't stop me, I'm a flameworth.' Charles thought to himself as he held his hair.

"No." Charles said, his voice filled with indifference, his movement was non chalant.

Perry was frozen, unable to believe that Charles had just rejected him blandly.

Charles wasted no time and immediately turned to make his exit out of the training ground filled with countless nuisances of people and make his way back to his room.

He made one final glance, looking at the Matriarch who observed him with calm eyes, he nodded his head slightly as she nodded too, returning his little greeting. He made his way back to his room.

Back in Ludia, Alex, whom had not been in contact with his family and his Charles for a while was busy with a secret mission, given to him by the Emperor himself, a mission that can only be carried out by a Flameworth with the title 'Arch'.

And this mission was simple: To subdue Lance Orero Armstrong , the banished golden Swordsman of the Kafer Empire, in the continent of Alumcapour. He was banished for a reason, hated and chased out of his empire and hunted by his continent. He had sneaked into Jalozi without anyone knowing.

"Go. Bring him to me. I have questions to ask him." This was the command given to Alexander by the Emperor, a man shrouded in complete mystery.

Alexander had spent a long time searching for Orero, he had to retrace his steps from the very place Orero had reached when he crossed the border, sneaking in with a ship that carried imported goods.

He followed his traces, investigated and found out that he was hiding in a place not too far from his territory, only two weeks away. Alexander was riddled with anger.

'He snuck into our Empire and hid in Ludia like a f**king rat!' These were the thoughts of Alexander, the Archmage of flames.

"You're very lucky I was high. A very lucky man you are, Alexander." Oreros said. His voice was low and muffled as he sat on a heaped pile of debris, his every breath was haggard and laced with effort.

He looked down on Alexander who was lying down on the ground, he glared at Oreros dangerously as he breathed raggedly, clearly exhausted from battle.

The bar they had first clashed was burnt to ashes, the entire street where they fought was leveled down to the ground, it was made incapable of housing any individual, it became a land filled with sword marks and ashes.

'i almost went feral, I just got so frustrated from this stupid mission. It's a good thing I held back.' Charles thought to himself as he wiped the sweat off his face, standing up to try talking to Oreros.

"How does it feel to fight with one of the five great lances, the golden Swordsman Oreros?!" Oreros yelled, he laughed out loud like a man who took Cocaine for the first time.

"Retired. Aren't you a mercenary now?" Alex grinned as he replied.

"But you fought for three days straight without rest with a retired swordsman Flameworth? Hahaha!" Oreros laughed histerically, like he had cracked a funny joke.

"Oreros. That was a good fight." Alex smiled a deep smile that went from ear to ear.

Oreros's eyes widened in surprise.

"..."

He closed his eyes and shook his head from side to side slowly.

"It was a good fight Alex. Now, you said something about your Emperor looking for me? What for?" Oreros asked Alex in a serious voice. His demeanor had shifted greatly.

'what a funny man. Fight first, business after huh?' Charles thought to himself as he wiped the grin off his face, to show his seriousness too.

'the fight really was a great stress relief.'

"Yes. I believe it is something of great importance and concerns your Empire, something only you, the former Golden Swordsman of the Kafer Empire can do." Alex said as he walked slowly towards the place where Oreros was sitting.

Oreros's expression changed, his face twisted from surprise, to confusion, then realization and finally, full rage! He was angry, not at Alex or his damned Empire, but at Kafer!

"I see. Treason is it? No, it can't be called treason, an Empire that betrayed me can no longer be called home." Oreros said as he exhaled deeply, tracing his eyes to follow Alex's movement as he approached him, to check if he was going to attack him.

"Take me to your Emperor." Oreros said with a voice that confirmed his resolve. He was going to get back on the damned Empire, his revenge!

"Gladly. but first, how about we have a Little drink together? I'm not the only one exhausted am I?" Alex said as he sat next to Oreros, showing no hostility.

Oreros chuckled.

'this guy is really likeable, not like the many rumours I've heard about him.'

'Emperor of Kafer, you and Kale. I'm coming for all of you soon!'

They both drank the remaining alcohol that Oreros saved on his belt strap.

Under the glow of the evening, the moon and the sun in the complex process of exchanging job shifts, the sky was clear.

The smell of Ashes and flames filled the air and the cool evening breeze danced on Alex and Oreros as they drank their alcohol, forming a new bond from a shared fight.
