'But what the hell...?'

By this point, Cassiel decided it was best to simply watch and wait to see what happened. It didn't look like he could interfere anyway, and the system seemed to be doing things beyond him understanding.

[Searching the user for his true wish.... wishfo und... Granting it... ERROR. Trying again... ERROR. The wish interferes with the previous user's wish..... Solution found. Fulfilling user's wish...]

'Wish...?'

That word struck him. He didn't understand why, but he felt his heart racing when the voice finished speaking, or rather the words ''wish'' made him get excited for no apparent reason.

He wanted to ask questions, but he wasn't even sure if that voice would answer him. Ignoring his doubts, he waited.

"..."

Cassiel waited, in case the voice suddenly shouted "ERROR" or something similar again. A few minutes passed in silence.

Luckily, they were in a rest period at the moment, although from the outside it was curious how he had suddenly frozen in place.

So much so, that the rabbit came over and gave him a couple of taps on the side of his paws.

Cassiel, who was still waiting for the voice to return, reacted to feeling the blows. He looked down and saw the rabbit watching him doubtfully.

Cassiel finally reacted, let out a slight snort and conveyed that all was well. Then he simply lay down on the ground to rest, patiently waiting for what was to come.

The good thing was, every time one of the beasts evolved, the researchers did nothing to them, even if they failed the tests. So, for now, he had time to process what had happened.

As he lay down, the rabbit climbed on top of him, but Cassiel paid no attention to it. He simply waited for a while, but eventually... nothing happened.

'Is it over already? Now what...? Hey, are you there...? Answer...'

He tried to communicate with the voice that, until a few moments ago, kept talking, but got no answer. He tried several times, but only silence answered him until the break time was over.

Luckily, it was the last round of the day. This time, they would face ten golden-maned lions. Cassiel remembered that the first time he had fought one of these, they had only been allowed to face two in the entire group.

Now, the investigators seemed to have determined that they could take ten, along with the secondary orders, which lately were getting ridiculous and there was almost always punishment.

Then, one of the investigators said:

"Make the rabbit kill half in less than three minutes."

Cassiel felt the urge to spit in their faces and then incinerate them, but he restrained his intention.

He had already learned to control his thoughts so that thing in his brain wouldn't punish him with a pulse of pain.

Now he understood more or less how it worked. Although the pain didn't come, something inside his heart stirred: a small, but nostalgic, feeling of mana responding to his will. However, he repressed it. It was still too soon.

He had risen in rank, but now that he had better magical discernment, he understood that the knights guarding the scientists would not be easy to deal with.

Besides, he had yet to understand how this system he had somehow acquired from Amaryllis worked.

Just as he finished with one of the Golden Lions, the voice that had previously not responded to him manifested again.

This raised many questions in Cassiel, but right now he was in the middle of the fight so she put that aside.

'Let's see... It lines up perfectly with the amount I hit last...'

Cassiel, now in what was more or less his room by the end of the day, where he used to sleep isolated from the rest of the intelligent beasts, could finally think calmly about the previous message.

Curiously, by testing, he found that just by thinking about wanting to see the window from before, it appeared. And now, just by wanting to check what appeared to be a mission, the previous window showed up before him again.

'Yes, it seems to be something intuitive... Let's see, there are things I don't understand and it doesn't seem to be answering.'

Cassiel began to break down and recall everything he heard when he first received the system. It had seemed like endless verbiage to her before, but now it was her only guide.

'Given what Amaryllis said and what it briefly showed earlier...'

Cassiel tried to put the pieces together. Perhaps, because he was in another world now, the way the system showed him things had changed, but that wasn't what was important, since it's not like he understood the difference between now and before.

What really mattered to Cassiel was that that system had said a lot of things that seemed to hint at something important.

He wanted to analyze it, but any conclusions he drew at this point would be no better than the hypotheses he already had, so, while important, he decided to set that aside as well.

What was really important to his current self was:

'It seems that I can use my magic after all, especially fire magic.'

It was a doubt he had had since he reincarnated, but now it was resolved. He felt reassured because, when he got angry with the investigators, he felt a hint of movement inside him.

Although it was a tiny sensation, it felt familiar, so he was relieved. For Cassiel, this would be his strongest weapon, and he was glad he could use it even in this life.

'Well, I guess it's that authority thing: Codex of the Eternal Flame? It doesn't seem to be more than that.hummm...'

Cassiel didn't understand what an authority was, but he instinctively knew that's where his fire magic came from. Now he had to try to understand the rest to get a more complete picture.

He understood things like him name, race and a bit about his affinities and personal rank, but he didn't know what area ranks or authorities meant .

Not to mention skills, jobs and so on there seemed to be a standard regarding everyone's strength... That didn't exist in his previous life.

For him ,humans or any humanoid race, became strong by accumulating mana and knowledge if he was a mage, or training the body if he was a warrior, there were no strict power ranks.

Amaryllis had told him that the system quantified power, but that only applied to her.

The others could only have a vague idea of the opponent's strength thanks to intuition, experience, and sense of mana.

In him previous life you only knew that he was strong or weak in relation to yourself, nothing else.

However, the rankings didn't seem to be just his thing. It aligned with what the researchers were discussing, so it seemed to be general knowledge in this world: a more or less accurate measurement of strength.

Cassiel thought to that point. If that was the case, he had to take it into account, because if there was a system of ranks, the difference in power between them should be obvious.

He himself had noticed it when he ascended: he immediately felt three times stronger, including his mana.

Such a radical and obvious change did not occur unless one had an epiphany or something similar in his previous life.

He thought of the beasts of his previous world. They too only became strong continuously by devouring each other, consuming rare materials or absorbing the energy of the environment if it was peculiar.

There was no such thing as suddenly becoming stronger upon reaching a certain point, the laws of this world are definitely different from the one he knows.

'Hmm... There are many things to consider, but seeing as this is the power that put Amaryllis' family as leaders of their race...'

Cassiel remembered the mission. It said that if he completed it, he could choose from three rewards.

The first option intrigued her. She didn't quite understand the concept of Skill , but she could deduce it.

In his past life, both humans and beasts seemed to have innate abilities, including himself. Here, however, they seemed to be more concrete and established.

If this system allowed him to gain skill from other beings, that would explain a lot of the oddities in Amaryllis' power, which from his perspective seemed bizarre.

'So, the second obcion.... Where's the store?'

----------------------------

[Shop]

Balance: -99,997

>Skills

>Artifacts

>Materials

----------------------------------

'Well, as I thought... it's intuitive. I just have to understand what I'm capable of... But more than that it's a minus? Because even... Oh! By which this was meant by loan.'

Cassiel was beginning to understand a little bit how this worked, but now he realized that he was in debt. His balance was in the negative.

Seeing as the bounty only gave 20 coins, it didn't look like he could use that feature anytime soon.

'Anthropomorphosis.'

Cassiel thought about the origin of his debt and remembered how little he understood after obtaining the skill. his status had changed, and with it, the jobs section appeared.

Cassiel deduced that this was something exclusive to humans or humanoids, and the system needed it for him, even at the cost of a debt he didn't ask for.

'But then ir went crazy again and changed jobs twice... And in the end it left me with normal mage. Also, the skills and authorities underwent a change from the first time.'

Cassiel was trying to deduce as much as he could, even if he still had errors in him reasoning. With what little he understood, he needed to analyze his situation.

After many trials and remembering a few things Amaryllis told him, he was finally able to get a fuller picture of what this system was and how this world seemed to work differently than his previous life.

And that fascinated and excited him, more than ever.

Cassiel didn't understand exactly why, but ever since he heard the word 'wish' in the system's voice, something inside him burned more than ever.

He didn't know the exact reason... And that was exactly why he wanted to find out with anticipation.

Whatever he was, he removed the last traces of thoughts of giving up with this life.

Now, Cassiel felt strangely motivated to go out, understand and explore this world. Something inside him demanded it... And Cassiel didn't object.

Now more than ever, he was motivated to destroy everyone responsible for this place and burn them to ashes while laughing over their corpses.

'Hahahaha!... I'll kill you bastards~!'
