After proceeding to smack around a kids Butterfree with Haunter, I found myself now enjoying dinner with Cynthia. We had gotten a corner spot for some privacy.
"What was it like raising a dragon like Garchomp?" I asked curiously and Cynthia hummed as she smiled.
"It was interesting. I got her egg as a gift and I took care of it growing up. The day she hatched I was so happy, of course when raising a dragon it's not so simple." She laughed softly and I watched her curiously, there was definitely happiness in there, but a hint of melancholy too.
Probably related to her parents. Her only known relative was her grandma.
"She liked to bite things, especially me, in the beginning. It was a process from there. She liked me, I did hatch her, however she didn't quite listen to me till one day we were attacked by some thieves, she evolved to protect me when I tried shielding her, and our bond was forever cemented there." Cynthia laughed softly as she seemed to think back on that.
As expected of Cynthia.
"What about yourself? Who's your starter pokemon?" She asked and I smiled at my shadow which let a small cackle out.
"Haunter, he was a little Gastly with some issues, and a friend introduced us, it was history from there. We battled. Eventually during our second gym battle he soloed the gym and evolved into Haunter. We've never had issues, well communication ones that weren't because I grew overconfident in our power. Blaine, the fire type gym leader, helped iron me out." I laughed as I remembered the small little gift I had decided to leave Blaine, a better mustache disguise.
"Interesting, your Sylveon, she's an eevee evolution right?" Cynthia asked and I nodded.
"A fairy type."
"I've been thinking of getting a fairy type pokemon, but I'm not quite sure which I want, there's so many choices." Cynthia pouted and I laughed softly, this was classic Cynthia, indecisive in the face of choice. Maybe that was just with Ice Cream and this was a different thing on its own?
"Well what type of pokemon are you looking for. Speedy. Attack. Defense. All around?" I asked her, because I wanted chaos damnit.
"Defense. To round out my team." She decided and I internally cackled at the chaos of the future. Her team was already strong, a powerful fairy tank inclusion would bring so much chaos.
"Then I think I know just the pokemon for you. Florges. The Flower Garden Pokémon. It evolves from Flabébé. It's a very tanky type pokemon with a pure fairy typing. It evolves from Flabébé into Floette, then into Florges." I said as I pulled it up on my phone and showed her.
"Ohh, they're so cute! Where can I get one?" She asked curiously.
"I know three regions for sure. Kalos, Alola and Paldea. You might find some rarely due to migration issues, but besides that, those three are where they are most abundant." I said as she nodded happily before pausing and nodding to herself again.
"Let me see your phone, I'll put my number in. I'd love to talk again with you after this cruise is over." She said and I smiled at her.
"Who am I to deny a beautiful girl my number?" I asked rhetorically as she blushed slightly as she entered her number and handed me back my phone.
I'm also blushing aren't I? My face is warm slightly.
Dinner was mostly silent after that, I think we were both slightly embarrassed, for reasons to both of us.

"Finish them off with a [Dark Pulse]." I said as Haunter let the attack off and smack into my opponents Arbok.
"AND OUR WINNER FOR THIS BATTLE IS RAVEN INANIS!" The referee was getting more and more hyper, plus louder, it was annoying.
Would anyone be mad if I threw my shoe at him?
"Kakakaka we kicked ass. As expected of our greatness." Haunter cackled away as he floated besides me as we walked off the field. My opponent nodded his head in acknowledgment before returning his mon and walking off also.
"You did good Haunter. Next time let's try using some [Dark Ball]'s to try and work on improving the move on trained targets." I said as he nodded happily and slunk into my shadow. He's so cute when embarrassed.
"Good battle, your Haunter is truly powerful." Cynthia said as she walked up besides me, I offered her a smile, but didn't respond as I stared at my next opponent.
They were battling a guy with the same pokemon they've been using the entire time. Gallade.
A decision had been made for the final to happen on a third day instead, apparently so everyone could come watch the battle.
However I had a feeling this was when Team Rocket would decide to rob us all. We'd be about in the middle of our trip and a good time away from any assistance or rescuing.
Less said if they have Mewtwo right now.
"AND TELMOS BELOVAN HAS WON HIS BATTLE ENSURING HIS SPOT INTO THE FINALS TOMORROW AGAINST RAVEN INANIS! WHO WILL WIN!? TELMOS WITH HIS GALLADE OR RAVEN WITH HIS DIVERSE TRIO OF POKÉMON!?"
I really want to throw my shoe at that guy…
"You are Raven right?" Telmos asked as he walked up to me and I nodded my head.
"I am, a pleasure." I said offering a hand as he shook it. His Gallade offered a small bow as well.
"I hope our battle goes well tomorrow then." He said, and I inwardly snorted at his tone, he was overconfident and didn't think I could beat him, but at least he was nice, and he wasn't trying to be rude either, it's just what he seemed to believe, or so I think based on his tone and body language.
"I as well Telmos. Let's give it our all tomorrow." I said as he smiled and walked off.
"You seem annoyed." Cynthia noted and I grinned at her, my battle hungry face. She raised an eyebrow at me and my grin only grew wider.
"Oh I am, in fact, tomorrow I plan to humble him. I believe it will be quite interesting battle and day, that's for sure." A brief cackle left my lips as my shadow expanded, four glowing red eyes in it unseen by anyone.
"Very interesting." I repeated as I walked off.
"Garchomp?"
"I think I understand him just a bit more now, but yes, he's definitely a battle junkie." Cynthia responded to her Pokemon. She laughed softly before heading off to her room. Garchomp behind her.

Next chapter will be interesting and longer then these slightly 1000+ word chapters.
Raven will put Telmos, a randomly chosen name, he's not relevant to the story, probably, in his place, but will he actually, or will he find a trainer who can give as good as his ego is for once.
Who knows, besides me of course.
I thought about using Koraidon for that battle, but then I was like, no, Raven wouldn't quite do that yet because of the risk of Team Rocket taking a interest in him for her.
Now I'm off to try to go to bed, life as an adult sucks. Work even more so. I wish I had infinite adult money.
