A searing, burning pain spread across my eye, making it water instantly. My vision got blurry from all the tears and I fell on my knees.
I woke up on the bed with Feng's dad watching over me.
"Are you alright? What happened out there?", Feng's dad asked me in a worried voice.
"My eyes ... they aren't blurry anymore." I said while getting up.
"You were passed out near the well. Did someone do this to you?", Feng's dad asked.
"No, it's fine, there was no one besides me there. There was burning pain in my eyes, and it seems I passed out from the pain." I replied.
"Burning pain? Shall we go to Mr. Yuan's place to get it checked?", Feng's dad asked.
"No it's fine, besides it's not hurting anymore, and I can see just fine." I replied calmly.
"If you say so. Then come, let's eat." Feng's dad said as he walked to the door.
I looked at my hands again, there were no symbols, and my eyes didn't have the burning sensation. We ate dinner together, sat around the table. Feng's dad went rambling about how he defeated monsters with his adventurer friends, and with all that, this hectic day came to an end as I went to bed.
This world is like that of a fantasy novel, monsters and adventurers, all naturally exist, and people have adapted to hunting monsters for a living. I died in my original world, cut and stabbed several times, I was helpless in front of him. The light that I saw before I died must be the reason I ended up here with my memories intact. If that is true, then could it be possible for him to have fallen in this world as well?
I've read these stories where the main character of the novel falls into another world and has adversities thrown at him one after another. And usually, the main character has a helping system that allows him to become overpowered in some way. In that case, could I also have some special abilities?
I fell asleep as I thought to myself, lying on the bed.
...
Drifting weightlessly through an endless void, darkness stretched infinitely in all directions. There is no up, no down — only the sensation of falling. In this nothingness, there shone light shaped in the form of eyes, which felt like that of some being staring down my falling body.
"I saved you, now, return the favor." It said, which echoed throughout the darkness.
Though asleep, I felt conscious. Watching the eerie eyes staring down on me, I wake up, short of breath and huffing. The pain in my eyes returned before the strange symbols glowed again on my hands, ultimately taking a shape of a small dragon like tattoo.
"A favor?"
"I bestow upon you a tiny fraction of the beast king's power. Become an adventurer and travel to the Demon Realm, where you shall find me and your nemesis."
The echoing voice filled my head several times before fading away.
This being that claims to have saved me, whatever it maybe, I need to become strong enough to face it. The demon realm it mentioned probably isn't somewhere anyone can wander to, and the only nemesis I could have in this world is him.
