Ayla tried to make him understand that she shouldn't be here. "Sir......….."
"Not a word from you, Ayla, save it." His voice was clipped.
All her progress was going down the drain, "But......…"
"Not a word."
Ayla kept quiet and anxiously waited for his next move.
He picked up his phone, "Come immediately."
A few minutes later, a beautiful nurse walked in. "I got your call, Sir, " she said enthusiastically.
"Tend to her."
"Yes, Sir."
The nurse touched her foot, and she grimaced,
"As expected, you twisted your ankle pretty badly."
She nodded,
"How did it happen?"
"I fell by mistake."
"Clumsy, I see." The nurse replied.
She left out the part about Gabby, and the nurse put some ointment on her foot. She rubbed her foot.
When she was done, the nurse wrapped a bandage.
"You are good to go, but don't put much pressure on it and put some ointment on it."
"Thank you so much. I feel better."
"You are welcome."
The nurse turned to Xavier, "Anything else I can do for you, Sir?"
"No, that is all."
The girl's face dropped,
"Alright, have a great afternoon."
She could see that the nurse was leaving reluctantly, as if she wanted to say more.
"Likewise."
The nurse left the office, and Ayla sat there not knowing what to do decided to break the ice once more.
He didn't seem as if he wanted to or he was waiting for her to thank him, which was only natural after he had gone out of his way to help her.
"Thank you, Sir."
He did not respond as he carried on typing; he was probably busy or stressed from his deadlines, and it was her cue to leave.
"I will take my leave then…"
She began to stand up slowly,
"I did not dismiss you yet."
Oh, so he could hear her after all.
She sat back down quickly. He was already irritated with her, so she didn't want to make it worse. "Of course, apologies, Sir."
She sat back down, and he was not saying anything, and she grew more tense as time went BY, till she couldn't bear it anymore,
"Sorry to inconvenience you like this. I didn't mean to be in this predicament, and I should have been more careful. I have definitely learnt my lesson. This won't happen again, and you won't have to bother yourself with something like this."
She groaned inwardly. Why was she rambling so much? Something about him unnerved her.
He did not respond, and Ayla reclined back. The more time she took, the worse it was getting out there.
There would be speculations. Why couldn't he just leave her by the nurse's office? So that was Gabby, the girl she had run into.
They were truly a match made in heaven, and she knew her place but had a few questions about their one night stand.
Thinking about it brought so much color to her face, how he kissed and touched her,
"NO!"
Xavier looked at her and felt a lot more embarrassment creep into her,
"I meant no! as in some escapade..........."
She stopped trying to explain, he went back to his work, and she leaned back, "May I please leave, Sir? I have a lot of work to do."
"Did I ask you, Ayla?"
"No, it's just that."
"Keep quiet, I need to focus."
She shook her head; he had the nerve to not let her work, and he went back to his work. She reclined in her chair, thinking about the amount of work that she would have to catch up.
She would probably have to work overtime,
Ayla roused awake when Xavier was lifting her from her chair,
She realized where she was. How could she fall asleep so easily in her boss's office? Did he think of her as lazy?
"Put me down, put me down, Sir, I can walk on my own!"
He scoffed at her,
"Sure you can."
"I'm being serious. And what time is it?"
"Everyone has gone home if that's what you're worried about."
"You should have woken me up."
"Why?"
"Everyone will be on my case."
They got downstairs, and Xavier sat her down by her office desk,
She took her bag and some books. Xavier lifted her once more as if she weighed nothing,
"I can walk; please put me down."
He did not listen to her and put her in his car.
